Obituary Down Under

Obituary in Perth Well if you haven't heard yet, Obituary will be playing here in May - the artwork I've been sent is for the Perth show on May 19. An awesome old school death metal band playing here on a Saturday night... oh yeah, this will be huge.

Their first time to Australia but I got to see them a few months back in Germany and can tell you, they're still rocking hard after over 20 years of pioneering death metal in Florida.

Congratulations to Enforce, Left Ablaze and Gallows for Grace for the support slots. Tickets on sale now, available from:

OUTLETS: All BOCS Outlets, 78 Records, Beat Karrinyup, Planet Video, Musicfinder (Perth) & CD Warehouse (Perth)

Western Front Awards '06/'07 Voting Now Open

I've tallied up all the public nominations for the Western Front Awards for the previous year and now the voting form is up.  Voting will take place for two weeks and then the top bands will perform, and the awards will be given out on the special night.

The awards night will take place on April 20 at Capitol, Perth. I have to say the nominations were more broad and diverse than any previous year, so it is good to see everyone getting involved. Now head over to the Voting Form and let the voting begin!

Insurgent EP Launch

Insurgent EP Launch poster Insurgent are the new featured band as they are launching their debut EP "Cutthroat Tunes" next weekend, on February 24, at the Charles Hotel in North Perth. Joining them in support to help launch the EP will be Wardaemonic, The Alchemont and Bereavement, so it should be a good one.

Not only that but you will receive a FREE copy of the EP upon entry to the gig - sounds like a good deal to me! Now go check out the Insurgent feature page .

As to be expected, the demand for tickets for the Slayer / Mastodon shows has been huge - the Perth concert selling out in just over a day. So there you go - if you missed out the first round here is your chance again. The Perth show is on Thursday the 12th of April with doors open - 6.30-10.30pm (Slayer on stage 9pm). Tickets from 78's, Planet, Beat and bocs 08 9484 1133 www.bocsticketing.com.au
