Title: Faith No More Reuniting; Mike Patton Scores First Feature Film
Post by: Kalika on February 25, 2009, 07:01:33 PM
When questioned last year about the possibility of a Faith No More reunion, Mike Patton (Fantomas, Mr. Bungle, etc.) said "I highly doubt it," yet in another interview said that he "wouldn't rule it out." Well, guess what? Last night, Patton's publicist confirmed that a Faith No More reunion is indeed in the works, with a European tour slated for the summer. Faith No More's last show was way back in April 1998.

Details are currently scant, as the news was tacked onto the bottom of a press release about Mike Patton completing his first major motion film score - for Crank 2: High Voltage - but we'll be sure to keep you updated. Oh, which reminds me: Patton just completed his first major motion film score for a movie called Crank 2: High Voltage.

Meanwhile, Patton will perform with labelmates Zu (who are awesome) March 19 in San Francisco and at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival April 17 with beatboxing extraordinaire Rahzel.

When the title says 'scores' it means he will write the musical score for the film.

He beat me to it. :(

Everything Mike Patton has ever done, is doing, and ever will do, is worthless and unlistenable.

Also, he eats his own shit.

From Blabbermouth

Quote
FAITH NO MORE bassist Bill Gould has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"FAITH NO MORE has always stood out as some sort of unique beast; part dog, part cat — its music almost as schizophrenic as the personalities of its members. When it all worked, it worked really well, even if the chemistry was always volatile.

"Throughout our 17 years of existence, the mental and physical energy required to sustain this creature was considerable and relentless. Though amicable enough, when we finally split, we all followed paths seemingly destined to opposite ends of the universe. Yet during the entire 10 years that have passed since our decision to break up we've experienced constant rumors and requests from fans and promoters alike. Nevertheless, for whatever reason, none of us kept in regular touch, much less to discuss any possibilities of getting together.

"What's changed is that this year, for the first time, we've all decided to sit down together and talk about it. And what we've discovered is that time has afforded us enough distance to look back on our years together through a clearer lens and made us realize that through all the hard work, the music still sounds good, and we are beginning to appreciate the fact that we might have actually done something right. Meanwhile, we find ourselves at a moment in time with zero label obligations, still young and strong enough to deliver a kick-ass set, with enthusiasm to not only revisit our past but possibly add something to the present. And so with this we've decided to hold our collective breaths and jump off this cliff.... BACK, GOD FORBID, INTO THE MONKEY CAGE!!!

"We can only hope that the experience of playing together again will yield results erratic and unpredictable enough to live up to the legacy of FNM.

"Who knows where this will end or what it will bring up... only the future knows. But we are about to find out!"

FAITH NO MORE 2009 is:

Mike Bordin - Drums
Roddy Bottum - Keyboards
Bill Gould - Bass
Jon Hudson - Guitar
Mike Patton - Vocals

Patton's publicist told MTV News that FAITH NO MORE was playing in Europe only, with no North American dates scheduled.

The exact dates and countries have yet to be confirmed.

This all means diddly squat, until the day they announce an Aussie tour, then will there will be a rise in my trousers, and a void in my wallet.

Saw them years ago at the entertainment center. Mike was sick he fell off the stage bass player was perfect and saw the drummer bust a skin and the roady changed his snare mid song without missing time. That was the best bit. But nothing compares to the carcass gig FUKERS!!!!

Anyone know what Jim Martin is doing these days?
His early 2000's album, Milk and Blood, is quite often available at Dirt Cheap CDs in the City. I got it for $5... Really worth checking out. Includes a bizarre (see pointless) version of Surprise, You're Dead with Martin on vocals (he does vox on the entire album). But, it's a cool CD with the unmistakable Jim Martin guitar tone and it's great if you like '90s alternative rock.

Classic Fotze!
I was at that gig too, good times.
Pretty wild they played such a small venue considering what they became.

The amateur videos on Blabbermouth we're awesome, they made "Just A Man", a deliberately cheesy song sound really cool.
Cant believe their still doin' Jizzlobber !!!

What an awesome set list, 24 songs including 2 encores. And Jizzlobber, which is strange because Jim Martin wrote that song. I really hope they can bring something like that to Australia and not on a festival so they aren't restricted by time limits.

The amateur videos on Blabbermouth we're awesome, they made "Just A Man", a deliberately cheesy song sound really cool.

That and King for a Day will always be my two favourite songs from that album.
