Title: Stolen Equipment
Post by: Muscles on July 23, 2009, 05:31:43 PM
Last night my car was broken into at the Planet Video carpark while I was doing Critical Mass.. I lost all my cymbals and my double pedals..

This has to be the worst timing considering all my savings are going into a US / Canada trip at the end of year and I have a gig tonight and tomorrow..

The cymbals stolen were;
14" Z Custom Hi Hats
18" Z Custom Medium Crash
19" Z Custom Medium Crash
20" Paiste Rude Ride
20" Sabian HHammered China
8" LP Bell

The double Pedals were Pearl Eliminators..

Fuck..

Just called Cashies.. They basically said they have people bringing in cymbals all the time so they can't do much..

I think they are gone..

That sucks...our singer's girlfriends car got broken into when he went down there for Critical Mass a few months back when Burgerkill were in Perth.

Sounds like that carpark is a dodgy area to park after dark?

If Cashies actually tried to help people get their stolen music gear back, they'd go out of business.  :err:
I mean, who here has ever sold a guitar/drums to Cash Converters? They offer you fuck-all... you'd have to be extremely needy to accept their usual valuations on gear.  :(
Don't worry Brenton, there will be a shit load of people with their eyes peeled for your stuff. I sincerely hope you get it back!!

Man, that sucks. Fucking scum.
I say we set up a sting operation to snare (forgive the pun ::)) the culprits and turn them into drum skins.
How satisfying would every hit be then. ;D

Something tells me Ed's motives were something a little different to revenge though!

We could always park a car with a nice looking guitar in the backseat in this car park and then beat the everlasting shit out of anyone who tried to steal it. It's not like there'd be any consequences.. he's not going to take you to court knowing full well he was about to steal a guitar now is he.

I like that line of thinking. Though it would be difficult to organise an angry mob to be there at exactly the time when some low life tries to break in to a car.

Theres plenty they can do. Give them a list of whats gone. Anyone bringing a whole bunch of cymbals in at once should arouse suspicion anyway. If its still the same as I recall, the Police TAG system requires them to log ANY gear they take on and to hold it for a minimum of two weeks. The idea being, if you have reported your gear stolen to the police, and a list of the same stuff comes through to the Police from cashies, a flag goes up and they go to investigate.

It is ILLEGAL for second hand dealers to palm off your gear straight away, so you may have a short amount of time to hunt the gear down.

Get the fax numbers for as many Cashies stores as you can and fax it through to them. Do not email.

I have stolen gear in the past by doing this. The only time you have an issue is when morality gets in the way of profit, and store owners dont log what they can easily resell, for fear it will be confiscated from them as stolen gear.

Sorry to hear dude, thats fucked up.

This nearly became my worst nightmare a month ago too, except the dumb fuck that broke into my car decided to steal everything that wasn't valueable. Like my stick bag and half my burnt cd's just to name a few useless items. Was sooo relieved to see my cymbal bag and the rest still sitting there untouched, whilst i was majorily pissed off.

will keep a lookout for ya aswell.

It's probably worth having a look in the Quokka and the Sunday Times too. Some cockjockey could be selling exactly what was stolen. It's unlikely, but it is a possibility.
