Yeah man, Dio (who is Italian) is widely believed to have introduced it. The concerned housewives then turned it completely around to make it "evil" and guess what - the fans thought it would be cooler if it was an evil sign. Welcome to our subculture.

Thats all well and good, but I think Dio totally over-uses it. I know its supposedly his thing and all that, but man, how many times in one gig do you need to throw the horns? I guess when you're 4'10" you need to put your hand in the air as often as possible.
