Title: 70,000 tonnes of METAL!
Post by: Teeman on January 14, 2010, 10:56:57 PM
I've been to some pretty epic festivals but this one would take the cake :o

70,000 Tonnes of Metal (http://www.70000tons.com/home.htm)
24th Jan - 28th Jan

Quote
Imagine starting the year in style. In January 2011, when everyone else is stuck with cold weather, snow and rain, 40 Heavy Metal bands and 2000 fans will take over a luxury cruise ship in the Caribbean for a 5 day and 4 night trip of a lifetime.

Tons of onboard live shows on several in and out door stages, open mic nights, bars that never close, a fun- and sun-filled day on the beautiful island of Cozumel (Mexico) and an opportunity to mingle side-by-side with the artists in this incredibly fan-friendly scenario that has no comparison.

It's like everyone has a backstage pass. You might even need a vacation from this vacation when all is said and done!

Line up so far includes Amon Amarth, Sodom, Sonata Arctica and Stratovarius!

So who else is keen to take the trip to Miami?? :headbang: :cunning:

Flights and accommodation start at $4000

2011?
Got a while ;)

Sounds freakin awesome though!

P.S. Where'd ya get $4000?

http://www.70000tons.com/pricing.htm

Highly amusing, but depending on the dates of our tour, Lozza and I MAY be able to get to this on the way home ;)
I'd probably have a small fit if it actually happened...

Although I find the idea interesting, it's gonna need a better line-up than that to convince me to come along.

Plus I'm a hell cheapskate.  ;)

This cruise needs some good W.A. representation just like Wacken etc.
Perhaps it should be added to Soundworks Metal Festival Travel?  :headbang:

Good for novelty factor.. not so sure about value.
Instead of 4 nights on a boat, for the same price you could probably spend a month in Europe and go to 3 or 4 festivals.
I guess it would be good for a different experience. Amon Amarth, Sonata Arctica and Stratovarius wouldn't really be convincing enough to make me want to go though.

I love that it's a cruise. Here's another one that might be tempting:

That would be very tempting if we could get some of these set up:

Sonata Arctica's "Wind Beneath My Wings" cover makes them the best band ever.

Saw the newer version. Altho I'd be more worried about getting sick from either uncleaned aircons or other people who happen to be sick than that sort of thing.
