Despite masterfully dominating a rain-drenched Formula One race there, Jackie Stewart called it "The Green Hell" without any sense of irony. For over eighty years N?rburgring Nordschleife has stood as the definitive one-lap test of man and machine, becomming a Mecca for automotive enthusiasts worldwide. There is nothing else even remotely like it in the world. Nestled among the endless dark green trees of the Eifel mountains in western Germany, this 13-mile circuit is arguably the most difficult and dangerous track anywhere in the world?and despite that, it's open to the public! Truly a gift only the Germans could give us.
The Nordschleife (literally, northern loop) features sweeping curves, variable surfaces, rapidly changing weather, dramatic climbs and drops, and a straightaway over a mile long where terminal speeds can be reached. It is the yardstick by which all production cars are measured. It is as unique as it is overwhelming. There may be other tracks, but there is only one N?rburgring.
Also add Graspop

I should also mention that I'll be going to the Nurburg Nordschleife this year.

In short, it's the worst longest, most difficult and deadliest race course in the world. It's also a toll-boothed, open speed limit public road!
And this won't be a visit, I'm going to rent a race-prepared sports car and drive; something I've wanted to do since I was a kid. If you're down with that, let me know as I've already got 2 other mates interested.

I just realised that it's a couple of months earlier than anything else, but how good does Norwary's Inferno Festival look :Quote(https://www.wf.com.au/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.roadrunnerrecords.com%2Fblabbermouth.net%2Freviewpics%2Finferno_top.jpg&hash=302e9ef860998082a1a47dd4985c33de9df3f11e)

Another OP updated with a few more festivals. The big update comes from a G'Map I've whipped up with the currently listed festivals on display to make it a bit easier to get your head around where and when fests are on.

So far I'm looking at Hellfest, Tuska, Metalcamp + Magic Circle, (maybe) Kaltenbach, Dong, Stonehenge aaaand Party San to wrap things up.
All reasonably small except for Hellfest and Metal Camp, very noice :)
It's doable for about $350 (including flights, bus, accomo overnight in some POS Venesian ghetto), much to the disagreement of SODs analysis :P
I've just got a decent amount of time to kill in between Hellfest and Metal Camp and I haven't been to Scandinavia yet sooooo
Um. Holy shit. I've just seen the line up for Tuska (http://www.tuska-festival.fi/)
Hypocrisy, Pain, Bloodbath... All with Peter :o
Mastadon, Satyricon, Testament, Overkill, Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Devin Townsend, Megadeth, Nile...
Plus it's in a bit of a window, 2nd of July to the 4th (juuuust before Metal Camp). I'm totally going with a line up that BLAZING hot, anyone else?? ;D
The thirteenth annual Tuska Festival in Helsinki, Finland is extremely proud to announce that DEVIN TOWNSEND will perform his ZILTOID THE OMNISCIENT concept album in its entirety on Friday July 2nd as a special, one-off world exclusive show.
Hmm looking at the Metal Camp lineup... :hmm: Not as sure as I was earlier now that all the big names have been confirmed.
EXUMER :o
POSSESSED BY FIRE!!!!!!!!
Stonehenge Festival has been added, pretty sweet one-day line up too
Gorod
haha tell me about it, Cannibal Corpse not once, not twice, but three times in three weeks.
We worked out that if we're lazy no good drunk-all-the-time metalheads (natch) then we'll see about 100 bands over the three weeks. But if we put in some real effort we could see far more :D
Haha I was watching the PSOA 2007 dvd last night.
Jamie: PILLERMAN, FOTZE, ARSCH!
