Title: The Movie Thread
Post by: BaileyHorizon on February 09, 2010, 02:08:55 AM
What movies have you seen lately?

Could be new releases, old classics, or just half ass not worth watching crap.

I saw Death Race the other day. Was pretty awesome, but I'm a huge Jason Statham fan and the semi trailer getting owned was one of the biggest highlights for me. :)

The Hurt Locker.
Check it out, its been nominated for as many awards as Avatar and I reckon it will pick up best picture. Its about a bomb defusal team in Iraq. It hasn't gotten much hype here though unfortunately.

The one I'm looking foward to this year is Inception (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HilwtqaN4Gs). Its by Chris Nolan (Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Prestige, etc). This guy never does wrong with his movies, so this should be good.

Law Abiding Citizen is sweet.

I thought Hurt Locker kinda sucked. It was good for for an hour and a half or so but then it just didn't really go anywhere and got real boring.

District 9, Scarface, Outbreak, The World's Fastest Indian, The Last King Of Scotland, Paranormal Activity, Orphan, Heat, the Bourne trilogy, Inglorious Basterds, Boogie Nights, and Gran Torino are some of my favourite movies. If there are any in that list you don't have, I strongly recommend you check them out.

Also, Antichrist (2009) with Willem Dafoe is pretty sweet if you wanna see a horrendously fucked up and graphic movie. It's not gratuitous at all, it's a drama, but it's pretty full on.

Oh and I forgot Rambo IV. Best movie ever.

Just recently watched Orphan - Awesome awesome movie, It's currently a newie at the video store ala fresh upload to bittorent. ;D

Also just watched Cannibal Holocaust for the first time the other night.. Pretty messed up.

Have downloaded Dead Snow but haven't watched it yet. I hear good things - but then how can nazi zombies possibly be bad!!  :cunning:

Orphan has a pretty great last sequence, really liked it :)

Anyone else seen The Road lately? Holey moley :o I think I'd prefer to sit right under the bombs as they drop.

Did he cry? Almost every single Nick Cage movie, he cries at some point. Even Con Air.

Funny you mention 'Knowing' -It was bagged by just about everyone when it came out, but I loved it.

Jokes like this were aplenty... (awesome drawing of nic cage, though!)

I'll vouch for this 10 times over, probably the best black comedy i've ever seen.

Easy to find on torrents ;)

I had heard about it before but you guys talking about it reminded me so I watched it yesterday. Was alright but I think I was expecting more. Most of it was fairly predictable. Definitely worth watching once, but zero re-watch-ability.

I could list a whole heap of cool movies but don't have time right now, but as far as freaky ones go I'd recommend watching The Exorcism of Emily Rose (which is based on a true story). Not really explicit but watch that in the dark at say.. 3am  8)
