Title: Home almost commercial quality (???) metal recordings if you want to check out
Post by: Overseer on June 01, 2010, 01:03:37 PM
I recorded this using a shitload of plug ins:
Drums i hooked up the drummer from an electric kit then used Superior Drummer 2 sounds
Guitars a Digitech GSP1101 taking out it's amb simulator and replacing it with impulse responses
Bass used the Ampeg plug in again with impulse responses
All electro and choir sounds were either pro tools plug ins or Eastwest choirs/synths used a lot of compression/eq's on this.
Acoustic Guitars were done via a RODE condenser mic closed up. You can hear the acoustic sounds on the song First Contact for the intro.

No vocals have been recorded atm as we are currently looking for a singer.

Basically just did a shitload of Compression and EQ on everything to make it pop out.

You can hear the songs at our myspace:

Thanks guys, yeah impulses are definitely the way. Makes everything sounds less fuzzy and give it space if that makes sense?
Forgot to mention the parts are double tracked as well to add a bit more size to it which i found helps quite a bit!

Great job, I'm really enjoying listening to that.  I especially like your use of panning.  The guitars and synths are top notch, the one thing I would say is that the drums sound a bit thin and synthetic.  I would like to hear a bit more punch and presence for the drums.  But seriously, the recordings sound great.

great guitar tones and a A+ for composition playing/phrasing.
agreed RE other comments about the drum sound, but at least thats an easy fix since the drumming/programming is tight as!

hope you a find a good singer/vocalist/front man (or woman)

Hey guys thanks for the feedback! Hopefully will be recording some new tracks soon at an actual studio with real drums instead of the electric kit.. and get some Mesa/Engl guitars happening instead of the synthy vst like guitar sound used on this demos.

Vocalist has pretty much been found and we're just recording atm, if you guys are interested add us on myspace or facebook and also link us up to any of your bands to check out aswell.

I'd love to play in that band.
