I wanted to warn you all about a possibly dangerous person in the Metal Scene.
On Western Front he calls himself "Sedaal" and on Facebook "Russell Lowe". Tonight he got hyped up on whatever and decided to start some shit on facebook, apparently it is all based on something said on Western Front a month back or something, not long before he got banned for being a dick. Whatever the excuse, he messaged me about 15 times with his usual pointless insults, but I couldn't be fucked with him and his crap so I told him to fuck himself and that I would be a bad dude to try to antagonise, and to avoid an escalation I blocked him, but he decided that that wasn't good enough, harrassing my wife on her facebook account and hounding me by other means.
As if that wasn't enough, he went as far as to threaten my wife and kids with violence.
At first I was angry and wanted to take steps to protect my family, but after I asked around on Facebook and elsewhere it has come to light that he has done this many times before to other people, mainly the girls. It seems that he has made a lot of enemies in this same way, provoking an argument and antagonising the situation until he can threaten people with violence, and that he is obsessed with knives and takes a lot of acid, a very unsafe combination. Much of this is hearsay of course, but I can tell you now that I have known some unstable people and he reminds me of them big time. One of them was my best mate at school, and he just snapped one day and is doing life for murder.
It has also come out that he is very aggressive to women and at least one restraining order has been put on him by one of our own metal ladies. Apparently he likes to threaten people and not just a few, intimidating and abusing women is something he is known for. From what I am being told he suffers from delusions also, and believes he is evil and does these things to prove it. He loves the attention he gets from his behavior and I don't want to encourage him here, but it is possible that he not well and I would advise you all to have nothing to do with him.
This is NOT a joke, I am genuinely appalled by his comments and the things I am hearing from others and I think it is the right thing to do to warn you all, especially the ladies. What you choose to do with this information is up to you, but my lady has decided to talk to the cops tomorrow.

There were more messages sent last night to my lady, and they are creepy as Hell. He keeps going on about how we really should listen to his demo and that people are all just jealous of his success. (?) There's more gibberish too, like that I apparently hate my life and am a failure, its all very demented stuff. The messages that are the spookiest are the ones which don't make any sense at all.
It's freeky being the in focus of a basket case, the guy needs to check himself into hospital. He keeps doing this shit and eventually he's gonna come up against the wrong person, and they are gonna off him. 10 years ago I would have gotten a crew together and dealt with this guy, but that aint me anymore. From speaking to people about him I have found out that he is a sad little weed with few friends, no female companionship, lives with his mummy, mental and drug problems and his only joy is bullying people on Facebook.
He needs to be pitied and avoided, not bashed.

Keep all of his messages and threats that are in writing, and record the time and date etc of any phone calls or visits. If you can get a restraining order for your family, do it, you don't want to take any chances with this clown. Would probably be a good idea for everyone he's hassled to keep everything too for a while, incase he decides to go back and become more of a problem down the track. No one should have to feel scared going about their daily lives.

Whatever shit he was on seems to have worn off now, and the messages have stopped. Maybe he has decided to pull his head in, maybe not. Either way, on advice we have decided to leave the cops out of it at this stage, at least on an official level. Some people I know are gonna keep a close eye on my home and family for a few nights, but they reckon that they have experience with this type of shit and 99% of the time it is all just wind. Besides, they reminded us that in the past I have had far more dangerous confrontations with the local tribes and yet I always walked out of those situations just fine.
I WAS gonna have to pull out of this gig for this weekend because my lady is afraid that I would cop a knife in the back or something, but that is no longer going to be an issue.

from one caring husband/father to another... any threats against my family, no matter how idle and pathetic they seem will be taken seriously by me, and I will do ANYTHING to make sure that shit goes no further. If I recall correctly, he made some snide remark about raping my children in a thread when he first burst his way onto WF and that was the last straw for me, whether he was joking or not. This guy might have a fucked up mental state or some problems with his grey matter, but to make threats like this to your family, Jez.... a dirt nap is all someone like this deserves; not pity or reasoning.

But maybe you are right. Those of you who remember me from ten years ago on WF would remember that I was a basketcase too back then, always in trouble, always wanting to fight everyone. Having my life become so much better for me in general took the worst of my homocidal urges away and having children made me a bit more patient. Getting off the dexies and living better made me less likely to get violent over stupid shit like this, but ultimately it took a bit of a jolt to make me realise what a prick I had become and to pull my head in. When I was at my worst though, people were always too scared to tell me that I was being a shithead, the few that did like Louise I thought were enemies and tried to destroy them, it was years later that I relised the truth and since then I really respect that little savage.
Apparently Sedaal is about 28 now, the age known as Bull-Moose in blokes in which you are about as unstable and aggressive as you will ever be. Maybe he needed a jolt himself to get him to take note of the way people see him, and just maybe he can pull himself together and stop being such a nightmare. The fact that he has decided to stop trying to escalate this shit gives me hope that maybe he is salvageable. If he keeps to himself for a few days I will ask Daz to delete this topic, and I am glad that I was able to keep my lady from involving the cops.

Another night and no more harrassment or threats, I think he has decided to go underground. Just as well, because if the PMs I have been getting in bulk are true, his mates have all walked away from him and nobody has his back. I have had personal assurances from some of his formerly best friends that they are appalled by his personality shift since getting on the drugs and should he decide to show up to a gig and act threateningly they will not protect him.
Life shouldn't have to be this way, this is a keen example of how drugs can really fuck someone up.

Then we just gradually lost contact, no fucking idea what it was. He had sent me some weird messages too, we just stopped talking. Then he would be weird if i approached him at gigs.
All things aside though, i did have a large amount of respect for russ about 1.5 years ago.
And i've never seen someone have a personality shift over night, but i find it absolutely enthralling that he is showing threatening behavior in a scene so small and taking it upon himself to make it personal at the same time.

Can you get people sectioned in WA? Surely this guy has drug induced schizophrenia. He shows all the symptoms, his thoughts are not linear he has delusions of grandeur and he obviously has lost all social skills and ability to interact with others. Not only is he self harming but he's threatening to harm others. The requirement of being committed in most places is the potential to harm yourself or others, he's already harmed himself and the longer he fantasizes about hurting other people the more likely he will act. I feel sorry for this guy he obviously has some serious issues. I think a better authority to go to than the police could be the mental health board or whatever. Maybe some of his former friends instead of denouncing him for his actions should be trying to get him the help he needs.

Yeah, it all seems really bizarre. Back when he was spamming all over WF with nonsense I think he messaged me as well, and was basically asking to be banned etc, so I gave him what he asked for.. it wasn't until after that I found out who it actually was.
I'd actually been at get togethers where he'd been.. in fact he came to a couple of my parties, and he always seemed like a really polite and nice bloke, if anything more than the average joe. So it came as quite a surprise. Then I wondered if it was some kind of 'stage personality' for his band, until all the extra stuff and crazy behaviour came to light.
If it is drug related then that is a shame and seems to be one of the more extreme changes I've seen before. In any respect it is still not acceptable behaviour and hopefully he wakes up to himself, sooner rather than later.

I had a pretty good talk about music with Russel a while ago when he was interested in buying a kit from me - which he ultimately did.
He was (at that point in time) a pretty grounded guy with a serious intent to make the best music he good.
He was polite and a cool guy. To be honest, I kinda wished there were more like him.
It would indeed be a shame if this is not the personality he carries with him today.

I remember having a great conversation with him at the Railway about a year or two ago, having never met him before. Seemed completely normal, a polite and all round nice guy.
If you believe him to be a genuine threat to himself (which is evident from the cutting photos) or others (threats should never be considered idle) he can possibly be involuntarily admitted under section 26(1b) of the WA mental health act; however it isn't as simple as it sounds. I've done this before, so if you are concerned about Russ then give me a PM and I'll let you know the steps I went through.

That gibberish he posted above is typical of the shit he was spouting at me, and yesterday he started in on Dan from Sins. The guy is twisted right outa shape and needs to be put away. I pity him, but I hate him too. In truth - and go ahead and jugde me harshly if you wish - I would be equally happy with him receiving medical treatment or a pick axe in the head, just as long as he stops harrassing my friends and family.

The word has gotten back to me that he has now started posting my address on a public forum as a further implied threat to my family. Rowland and Hatefueled are keeping tabs on it and that is good of them, but for fuck's sake, is this shit ever gonna end? I don't understand what he wants from me. To unblock him? Why, so he can send me 20 posts a day about how smart he is and how shit I am? What is that gonna accomplish exactly?
Well, enough of this shit. If something isn't done about this by those that care about him then I am going to have to take steps to protect my family.

I decided to do this the smart way.
I made a call to the cops this morning to register the problem, and they said that if I have enough evidence they can have him charged. I have a fair bit already, including the original threat, the half-threat about the nailbomb and the rest of his insane ramblings. The posting of my address is the clincher and is enough to have him picked up by the cops, but I haven't got that proof because the guys have been thoughfully deleting it, but next time he posts it could someone give me a link before they delete it? Once I have enough evidence - and assuming the shit keeps coming - I will make an official report.
All his photos have been catalogued as evidence that he is a fruitcake, and his online confession about abusing hallucagenic drugs was very interesting to the cop I spoke to. I also spoke to my mate's solicitor about a restraining order just now. He says it isn't his speciality but he ran me through the process and it is way easy. As far as the law stands, a existing restraining order can have names added to it at any point, you just have to speak to the original magistrate and show the evidence, so if anyone else feels that they would like a guarantee that he never come near you again or contact you in any way, feel free to drop me a line to discuss it.
I never really dealt with cops before, but now that I have done it I don't feel anywhere near as dirty as I thought I would. It is different when you know the cop personally, it feels less like being a dog.
I also found out my exact rights as to self defence. As long as it is within the bounds of my property, I am legally allowed to use "Whatever force I feel is necessary" to protect myself and my family. Considering the weight of evidence I have here, I feel that the force I deem necessary may be quite a bit. Unfortunately, my dogs have no rights whatseoever.
Other than the threats, this situation has worked out really well for me, I have met a lot of new mates and reconnected with some older ones, all of whom have offered nothing but support and advice, and in some cases muscle. One even offered to spend a few nights here just in case of trouble. That's the Perth metal scene in a diorama, we hang together and have each other's backs, and troublemakers are outcasts. Fucking glad to be here, and I think under the circumstances I may have to reconsider my promise to never host another party again.

The cunt beat the shit out my sister so I beat the shit out of him. BUT... he came back with weapons.... When I thought it done and was dealt with.
The best thing to do is end it quietly on the best terms possible.

That said, there are other odd things at play here. Anyone who was at my place on New Years or can read a phone book can find my place, and the neighbours told me today that they saw a large blue sedan, not a recent model in our street acting suspiciously a couple of days ago. One guy in it and he fucked off quick when he realised he was being watched.
After making enquiries, it seems that Sedaal owns a blue large sedan and not a recent model.
The neighbours thought the car they spotted might have been an LTD, and if the facts I am being presented with are true, then Sedaal owns a Berlina. But there are some similarities there for sure.
To be honest, I would imagine that it is conincidence, there must be 20 000 dark blue sedans in Perth. When there is a boogeyman around, you see them under every bush.l

I don't know if you had much to do with the HDT drama, but he upset a few girls online and at a gig, which turned into a myspace/wf to and fro and ended in a restraining order. The guy talked some shit but he wouldn't hurt a fly yet the hearsay and bullshit that was flying around online was dragged on and in the end - no-one has heard shit from him or the people he bothered.
Pretty much the same thing here - idle threats from mentally unstable/attention whores/people who love a good drama fuelled by the bystanders of this scene (myself included).

If your house is broken into and you believe your life, your wife's, child's or sister's lives are in danger, you may use what ever force is necessary to protect yourself or family. If they break into a house that has young children living in it, it is upgraded to aggravated burglary automatically.
As far as having weapons in your car, Im not 100% sure but my understanding is it's all about time, place and circumstance. Ie 4 blokes in a car with baseball bats at 2am Vs 4 blokes with baseballs bats, baseball gloves, baseballs and dressed in training gear at 6pm. Having a tyre iron under your seat opposed to in your boot is a weird circumstance to explain. On this note a big pole in your boot 'to help with leverage' while taking wheels nuts off is generally accepted, but maybe not if its under your seat again. You just need to be able to explain why you have a screwdriver in your glove-box or nail gun on the passenger seat...perhaps your an electrician or a carpenter? but if thats the case again at 2am on a weekend, you might be in trouble.

You probably would be prosecuted, but stand a lot lower chance of it if you're female.
You are allowed to use whatever (equal) force you feel is necessary to remove someone from your property or diffuse a situation.
Two people in fisty-cuffs is not usually a problem. Hacking someone with a weapon for jumping through your window is generallt not ok, and you will be in the shit for it.
Ultimately, the 'reasonable force' thing is very grey, and its what a jury considers reasonable - not yourself.
Like my instructor always used to say though - Its better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6. In this day and age you never know whos carrying what, especially on the street, and the smartest way is simply not to even be there.
One police officer I know said that if you answer the front door with a knife wrapped in a teatowel, you can argue that you were washing the dishes when the intruder came knocking - His bad luck.

Maybe some of you don't know too much about the Black metal scene but it seems to me that Sedaal is just trying to get "Kvlt" status. Though From beyond's music isn't much like trve black metal (I've heard Death erotica, it sounds more like Cradle of filth than Burzum) it looks like he's just trying to get noticed, on his myspace he does a hell of a lot of networking with international acts and in Black metal its really a case of "No publicities bad publicity"
Right now everyones kicking him off forums and deleting him from friends lists and the like, but you're all still talking about him aren't you?
I always see on his myspace things like "Australian Black Metal have deleted me" and "I got kicked out of Western Front" Whether its true or not the way Sedaal sees it, the more people hate him the more Kvlt he'll be.
As for threatening people, especially women and children, it truly disgusts me and whether he's doing it as a joke or saying things just because he's high, theres really no excuse.
As i say though, it's the black metal way, a lot of Black metal musicians are extremists in a lot of ways, theres threats, murders, suicides, racism, fascism, sexism and a lot of Black Metalheads think its great.

Me. After the threats we received and hearing the stories from other WFers and local headbangers, I actually thought that he might be a danger and started the topic to warn others about him. I don't regret that decision, a lot of people have PMed me their experiences and it was good to hear from them. More stuff will come to light in the future, stuff involving other people that I can't discuss here. At the very least, there was a bit of fun going on here for a couple of weeks.
The thing is, after discussing the situation here on WF and elsewhere I realised that he is no threat to anyone, just a big mouthed drug addict with delusions. Shit, I've known a few of them in my time. You get your dangerous ones, but not this guy, he is just a harmless attention seeker, just blaming the world for his issues and trying to get people to take notice of him. I spoke to a couple of people about taking steps to put him out of my misery, but they all suggested that I just ignore the impotent ladyboy, and the fucker will go away. They were right. So it all worked out just peachy.

From where I see it that's whats happened. Of course threats like that should be taken seriously. Consider the action taken with the information. There was little to no real threat. See Jez's post above. He said so himself.
It's better to search for facts and deal with issues as they truly are rather than let emotions lead you to places you may regret later. That's what I believe anyway.

Actually i think the scene is growing more, maybe more than you'd think.
I just got back from a job up North and spoke to quite a few that are into the Perth scene and more that were into metal in general.
I dont seem to come across that shit when im away.
There's potential disciples out there for sure.

To be honest, I actually quite liked the documentary. And I don't think you could've had two better interviewees than that of Fenriz and Varg. Whilst Frost came across as a depressed but vain fuck and the comments added by Immortal, who were obviously only there for a bit of black metal street cred, added next to nothing to whole arguement, the content was actually quite to the bone. Just sucks that they never add the fact that they were all junkies to begin with which is what makes the church burnings and murder's more believable.

Agreed, just watched it yesterday and was quite impressed. Some very good visuals in the movie, director should be proud of himself.
