For someone who clearly knows fuck all about the genre, the writer doesn't actually do that bad a job. What were they supposed to do, find a journalist specialising in black metal? Do they exist? Are they on more than 75 cents a decade? I doubt it.
They claimed Satanism at the time. They were kids. When they grew up they started claiming Paganism, Odinism, etc. They were just a bunch of confused teenagers looking for excuses to be little cunts.
It's hard to look past the hilarious photo by-line though, I will admit.

My daily black metal schedule consists of waking up, brushing my teeth, having a shower, burning churches, eating Muslims for breakfast, going to uni, eating Jews for lunch, going to work in a bar, eating Christians for dinner, then going home and writing about how I grim I am before going to bed and considering whether to eat Buddhists for supper or not. I don't want to get fat.

Yeah, I highly doubt anyone in the Entertainment section at the West is an avid black metal fan. Which is a shame, metal should receive equal coverage to crappy pop music.

I know Shannon, he is definitely NOT a metal-head, but used to be the film critic for that other WA paper, which is probably why they gave him that story to write.

How can you be a critic of metal unless you have years of listening under your belt, you would have to a least like it to be able to compare it to shit you think dont.

and its Abbath from Immortal in the picture and he does suport a healthy KFC induced gut these days
