-
Is it wrong that i've only heard of 3 of those bands? I certainly wouldn't pay money for any of them..
-
I've heard of 4. I'm less underground than WarNick. Fuck.
-
i wont be going? :err:
-
Fuck yes i'm there. All my favourite bands.
-
Is it wrong that i've only heard of 3 of those bands? I certainly wouldn't pay money for any of them..
yeah, Im in the same boat. What a homo lineup, and a great way to kill the Soundwave name.
-
Hopefully itll be like last time and they are saving all the good shit to last. Totally agree though, this lineup is horrible so far. All stage 5 bands
-
That lineup is insulting to Whitechapel
-
Whitechapel are insulting to decent music.
-
Devy is comming ;D
finally a decent act!!!!
-
A Devy side show would still trump this.
Needs to be 3 or more good bands to make this worth the admission.
-
What the fuck is Soundwave revolution?
-
The chances of perth getting a Devin sideshow would be pretty minimal judging on previous Soundwaves - did we get any this year???
Anyway, if he's half as good as he was when he played at Metro Freo he's worth the admission price alone. I'm definitely going now. ...unless there's a sideshow.
-
Zebrahead are still going?
-
Zebrahead are still going?
someone named their band Zebrahead? :err:
-
Zebrahead are still going?
someone named their band Zebrahead? :err:
And it seems they are still going 8)
-
Zebras have heads ???!!?1
-
I have heard that Steel Panther will be playing :headbang:
I really hope they either announce a whole heap of other good bands, or Steel Panther play a side show...
-
Im going if Steel Panther is playing, period.
-
Steel Panther, trying to be funny but failing, which you would think in itself would be funny, but still isn't.
Irony squared.
-
Steel Panther have 3 residencies a week (2 in Las Vegas and one in West Hollywood) so the chances are VERY slim.
-
Pretty sure theyre confirmed. Which is a shame because I never wanted to go to Soundwave ever again, but now I will have to.
-
Steel Panther have confirmed for Soundwave Revolution ;D
-
Well don't I look silly :(
.....and I agree with Cabba
-
Steel Panther and Devin Townsend. Wow. This festival just got even worse.
-
Steel Panther and Devin Townsend. Wow. This festival just got even worse.
hahaha.... first time I have ever agreed with you!
-
Im going if Steel Panther is playing, period.
Agreed.
Saw them when i was holiday in the U.S.
Probably the most 'fun' i've had at a concert ever.
The dudes are funny as shit when improvising insulting people.
-
Unearth have been added. and Times of Grace who I just found out existed who apparently have some dudes from Killswitch Engage or some crap
-
Steel Panther? According to Senton, who saw em in Vegas a couple of weeks back, they are awesome..
Im not so sure but might be good for some lolz.
Geez, the 3 band rule will really be tested with this one
-
Any idea on when this tour will be?
'Later in the year' could be anytime.
-
Rumours are late Sept/ Early Oct 2011 :)
-

Oh they are awesome! Piss funny and great players!

Saw them at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas, Totally awesome, great fun.
Probably better in a club than a festival, but still worth a watch :headbang:
-
Seen Steel Panther nine times now (going back to when they were Metal Skool) ;D Their festival show is totally different to the club show, but still worth seeing. Festival show is mostly their original material, the club show is mostly covers with more audience interaction (and always a celebrity chucked into the mix, and often some high wire guitar solo acrobatics...).
What sucks, is that those nine times Ive seen them, would have cost less in total than this one ticket to Soundwave...
-
UNEARTH, DESTROY REBUILD UNTIL GOD SHOWS (D.R.U.G.S), FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND, STEEL PANTHER, DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, BLACK VEIL BRIDES, WE ARE THE IN CROWD are the latest official confirmations....plus if you snoop in the right places, there are even more bands that are yet to announce themselves officially. Excitement BUILDING!
Can't seem to find it now, but pretty sure I read a comment somewhere about the promoter, AJ, stating there won't be any side shows either.
-
So we're all in agreeance, Steel Panther are a bunch of queers.
-
Kverletak!!!.......Eeep! :o
-
October 3rd is the confirmed date for Perth. No venue as of yet.

Apparently Rage Against the Machine and Alice Cooper are hot tips for it.

Well The Band list looks shit anyway so i couldn't care less
-
Perth just cant seem to get their act together, its fucking pathetic really but no big loss, this festival is not exactly crash hot so far
-
AJ Maddah, announced on Twitter that ?I need to now decide whether to skip Perth altogether and instead do a regional East Coast date, etc. The WA Gov has (with 5 months notice) moved the Oct long weekend. Between the distance, thieving operators, incompetent /bar managers, etc, it is already an uphill battle to bring SW to Perth.?
The planned Melbourne date ? Friday 30th September ? is not a public holiday or weekend, but Maddah says that ?The deal is that Melbourne sells out regardless of what day it is on. Perth people have a different attitude.?
What a fucken weak excuse.
-
im mean its a pretty fuckin weak line up but this is still shit.
I would still be tempted to go for Steel Panther and Alice Cooper is also on the rumour list
-
Perth people have a different attitude.?
Of course we've got a different attitude, we've been constantly screwed over by the larger promotion companies, and this event is just further salt in the wounds. You can't blame the WA crowds for being cautious about investing in such an event when a decent amount of them have been canceled in the past.
Such promoters need to stop complaining about WA, and do something to improve their own reputation here.
-
There's a petition running on Facebook to keep the Perth show... maybe we should just start another one asking if Steel Panther will do a Perth show :eyebrows: thats all im really interested in atm
-
I've signed the petition but I like your idea
-
Watain has been added to the lineup....
talk about the odd band out? would love to see them
-
Watain has been added to the lineup....
That would be cool, but they'll be even more out of place than Dimmu were.
-
Watain has been added to the lineup....
That would be cool, but they'll be even more out of place than Dimmu were.
Yeah coz theyll actually be good ;D
-
Perth is confirmed to happen on October 3rd. It's not a public holiday (thanx chogm), but at least the organizer is giving Perth the benefit of the doubt. Full lineup is announced Wednesday (apparently).
-
Hatebreed, Gojira, Devin, Hellyeah are pretty much it for me, hopefully a decent headliner will be announced to make it worthwhile
-
Headliners apparently are....
Van Halen
Hole
Alice Cooper
Bad Religion
Machine Head
Danzig
Sisters Of Mercy
Alter Bridge
Versa Emerge
-
Van Halen
Alice Cooper
Danzig
Sisters Of Mercy
+ Steel Panther
+ Watain
This is actually starting to look rather quite good.
-
No shit. This turd polishing thing is starting to pay off. Alice Cooper and Danzig have me considering.
-
Just confirmed that it will be at Arena Joondalup.
-
Cool! although will Arena be big enough??
-
I'm pretty sure it won't be considering Van Halen could probably sell 30 000 tickets alone.
-
Ticket ordered :headbang:
-
They fit in 45000 at future music festival and they can fit 7 stages if needed, won't be a huge crowd anyway because it's no longer a public holiday, just a regular monday.
-
VH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I'm pretty sure it won't be considering Van Halen could probably sell 30 000 tickets alone.
Maybe 25 years ago ;D
-
It couldnt get any worse than this....
The usually constant stream of news filtering out from the Soundwave camp has slowed to a crawl in the last week.
Rumours about the future of the Soundwave Revolution debut have been building since the teams much anticipated second line-up announcement failed to come to fruition last Monday 1st August. The announcement?which was due to reveal the second and third headliners?was then postponed until Wednesday 3rd August at 10pm, but once again failed to appear. With suggestions that festival headliners Van Halen were experiencing internal trouble, the future of the inaugural festival appeared to be under a cloud.
(Correction: We incorrectly attributed the below comments to Steel Panther singer Michael Starr. They have in fact been made by the band's drummer, Stix Zadinia. We need to read our pseudonyms more closely.)
Today, a tweet from the drummer of L.A band Steel Panther, one of the bands who are booked to perform at the event this September (and with whom TheVine conducted perhaps our funniest and most NSFW interview ever), suggests the entire festival has been cancelled. Actually it does more than suggest it?it outright says it.
At 10am this morning Stixzadinia tweeted "Soundwave Revolution is cancelled. I am bummed." He followed the rash statement up half an hour later with a further missive:
"Just got word from our management that the whole festival is cancelled. I hope I'm wrong but I was told it's official. Anyone hear same?"
The tweet inspired a great many Soundwave fans, many of whom have already bought tickets to the festival, to attempt to clarify the remarks with both the drummer and promoter AJ Maddah, via his twitter handle @iamnotshouting. The usually vocal Maddah has yet to reply to the accusation (or indeed, tweet since the postponement announcement failed to materialise last Wednesday), whilst the drummer replied to the numerous outcries with:
"Just wait. I ain't wrong."
UPDATE: Two more tweets from the Steel Panther drummer since this story was first published:
1: "Ok everyone. I'm just reporting what I was told. U don't have 2 believe me. Better yet, don't believe me and wait for an "official" anncmnt.
2: "Ok. Let's start over fuckers. Don't panic. Let's all pretend I didn't hear from our manager that swr is officially cancelled. U good now?"
UPDATE 2: Stixzadinia has now deleted all tweets concerning the Soundwave cancellation rumours?including his direct address to TheVine. And while we've been waiting on a response from organisers re: the cancellation, Triple J are reporting that they contacted the Soundwave offices today where "staff declined to comment but didn't deny the rumours."
More news as it comes.
The Soundwave Team recently announced their move into indie-pop territory, with the creation of the Harvest Festival. Featuring The Flaming Lips, The National and Portishead, Harvest is due to kick off in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney in November.

-
That's what happens I guess when you book a festival at grand final time.
All the interstater's that go to more than one SW are taken out of the loop cause of the cost of hotel's and flights etc (me included).
Bummer I won't get to DLR & Sisters of mercy but it's still not "officially" cancelled so there's a little ray of hope......
-
It must really mess the bands around for a festival like this to be cancelled.
-
not official yet, but Im guessing thats only a matter of time. The bands must be spewing!
-
No Gojira :'(
-
No Steel Panther + no Gojira = no go :'(
-
It's now official,

Seems AJ is blaming this on the "co-headliner" pullling out.
Maddah told Nova 969's news team they were forced to pull the plug on the festival after the second-biggest headliner pulled out. Listen to the audio above.
http://www.novafm.com.au/article_soundwave-revolution-2011-has-been-cancelled_109781?s=270
?A lot of those bands are still coming and we are, you know, creating packages and what have you for them to (play) in clubs and other venues" he said.
Clubs and other venues = :headbang:
Only if you want to head over east, I wouldn't count on any Perth shows...
Many of the festival bands will still be coming to Australia in that time period and team up to bring you some very special shows. These will include multi band/mini festival line-ups in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. We will be announcing these events in the next 7 days.
-
Seems AJ is blaming this on the "co-headliner" pulling out.
One band pulling out & he cancels it - crap!
There were, what 50+ others???
-
get Voyager to take their spot!!! :headbang:
-

Yeah, most people were happy with the line-up as it was. Unless it was Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath or something, I'm pretty sure the new headliner wouldn't have made too much difference.
-
What a total BS excuse...lineup was strong enough as it was.......not the first time AJ Maddah has done this.
-
...and now a statement from AJ Maddah

There's just something so oddly unnerving about a man in his mid-30s latching onto internet memes ... :hmm:
-
Pretty close to the actual date as well.
You would think the majority of decent named bands would be pissed.
I guess Van Halen was too good to be true anyway, i always had my doubts.
-
was this the second announcement?
-
Well played.

According to Australia's long-running rock station Triple M, there are rumblings of a VAN HALEN headlining tour of Australia taking place early next year.
Triple M music reporter Nui Te Koha told the Hot Breakfast two promoters have gone in and spoken to VAN HALEN management following last week's cancelation of the Soundwave Revolution festival, which VAN HALEN was set to co-headline.
"This will be an arena tour," he revealed. "VAN HALEN has got an album coming out really soon. Two promoters have gone in and said, 'This Soundwave Revolution thing was a debacle. We want to tour the band and it will happen early next year.'"
VAN HALEN was supposed to play five shows in Australia in late September and early October as part of the Soundwave Revolution festival, but the entire event was abruptly scrapped by the promoters, who cited the exit of a second, unnamed headliner and low ticket sales as the reasons for the plug being pulled.
The festival's lineup also included ALICE COOPER, HELLYEAH, HOLE, BAD RELIGION, ALTER BRIDGE and PANIC! AT THE DISCO, among others.
Australia's Triple M Radio reported that AEROSMITH was the second headliner that promoters were trying to secure, but were unable to do so.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, one theory suggested that the cancellation was the fault of another act rumored to be on the bill, LIMP BIZKIT. But singer Fred Durst was quick to shoot that down, saying online, "We were never on the bill to play any festival down under. So it looks like VAN HALEN cancels and we get thrown into the mix."
There was in fact a lot of speculation that VAN HALEN itself pulled out of the festival, but the Van Halen News Desk reported adamantly that the band had nothing to do with the cancellation of the event.
The Australian shows would have been VAN HALEN's first since its reunion tour with singer David Lee Roth wrapped up in the summer of 2008.

Well there ya go. I bet that AJ (or whatever his name is) will have a hard time surfacing for a while. This could spell the end of the entire Soundwave thing altogether.... though of course, I hope not. So many lies, such little organization. What the hell was he thinking?
-
Seems like they've already started organising next year's Soundwave ;
Florida metallers TRIVIUM have been confirmed for next year's edition of Australia's Soundwave Festival (not to be confused with the recently canceled offshoot event, Soundwave Revolution), which will take place in February/March.
The exact dates are as follows:
Saturday, February 25 - Brisbane
Sunday, February 26 - Sydney
Friday, March 2 - Melbourne
Saturday, March 3 - Adelaide
Monday, March 5 - Perth
Other rumored acts for next year's Soundwave include DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, SHADOWS FALL, CKY, THE SMOKING HEARTS, FOREVER THE SICKEST KIDS and MADINA LAKE.
Looks like a fail already
-
Im calling an epic fail.
-
Just heard most of the metal bands from revolution will be at sw2012 including dev, machine head and gojira plus a heap more. They also just announced Counter Revolution but its basically just a smaller mini-festival with all the shitty bands, no metal.

Soundwave Revolution are gearing up to announce their post-cancellation mini-festivals for Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide tonight, with information for Sydney and Perth mid-next week.
Information has been seeping out of the festival?s administration event since the cancellation of the inaugural Soundwave Revolution event, with the first official announcement set to be revealed this evening.
Bands are believed to had three options following the cancellation; wait until Soundwave 2012; tour their own headline dates; or be involved in ?mini-festivals? around the country.
Festival promoter AJ Maddah told Your Daily SPA this afternoon that details for mini festivals in Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide will be announced tonight.
Information on the headline shows for Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide will be announced Monday.
Sydney and Perth details will be announced mid-next-week.
The mini festivals are expected to be indoor evening events, not unlike the slew of Sidewaves which visit cities during the Soundwave tour.
Maddah was been active on his Twitter account, replying to queries from fans. From those responses, it seems that The Used, Hole, Danzig, Trivium, Dashboard Confessional, Shadows Fall, Devin Townsend, CKY, Framing Hanley and more will be waiting until Soundwave 2012 to tour.
15 to 20 out of the 60 bands for Soundwave 2012 will be Revolution refugees.
The festival dates are believed to be;
Brisbane: Saturday 25 February
Sydney: Sunday 26 February
Melbourne: Friday 2 March
Adelaide: Saturday 3 March
Perth: Monday 5 March
Information relating to Soundwave Revolution refunds are available from their Facebook.
