On June 27 www.thepitfm.com kicks off with a new 24/7 web-radio station that will play nothing but punk, hardcore, post-hardcore & metal along with all the latest music news from around the world and interviews with some of your favourite bands big and small.
We are currently in discussion with record labels worldwide. There are many Metal shows during the week that are segregated into sub-genres and focused at different time zones all over the world.
The station not only plays the music of the bands, but also includes interviews, podcasts and reviews. There will also be a smartphone application so one can access the station whilst on the move!
We are currently building the database and moving into a residence. We are accepting CD's from bands locally, nationally and internationally. You can send them too:
1/264 Stirling Street
Perth, Western Australia, 6000
email: info@thepitfm.com
There will be a website up and running in a few weeks with further information.
We are also on Facebook, search "The Pit FM"

If you have a professionally recorded, mixed and mastered EP or Album and want to have your band?s music played on The Pit FM follow the instructions below.
Important: No demos unless your music is ridiculously fucking good. If you are unsure about this get a second opinion from someone who wont piss in your pocket. This isn't about us being pricks, we want to support upcoming bands, but we just don't want to waste your time or ours. A lot of people will potentially hear you on The Pit FM and you want them to hear you at your best.

How do you quantify "ridiculously fucking good"?
-
Recording doesn't need to be immaculate, man. Good quality is enough.

Yeah, I'm not referring to recording quality, I'm talking in terms of how the music actually sounds. "Ridiculously fucking good" is a very subjective term.

I think, despite the sarcastic exaggeration and expletives, the point is, the music needs to be tight and musically discernible, such that an audience could appreciate it, at least by its own merits, as opposed to being a one-mic, one-take demo recorded in your mum's garage, of the band's first attempt at performing the song together.
As such, there will be no tr00 blackmetal on this station.
-
In fact, there will be true black metal being played. We have set extreme metal shows for loca, Asian and European audiences in set time zones.
-
Is there any comments, apart from ones about grammatical misdemeanors?
As of recent we already have thousands of followers worldwide, not including australia. We are in communication with minor and major record labels. Once again, we do pay royalties and are setting up interviews so anyone who wishes to promote their music, feel free to send us your tunes for AirPlay. Otherwise it will be impossible for us to play local tunes, having not obtained them for our database.
-
I would love to say something constructive but I don't even listen to ridiculously good music, let alone play it.
I'm sorry.
-
"ridiculously good" was not meant to be taken as a generalist statement. If one can not see that, fair enough. All we are trying to do is progress music from this country by promoting it worldwide. Simply, if you would like your music played, send us tunes. If not, don't. we will have a site up in a week and streaming will start shortly after with the main launch taking place late next month. There will be an extreme metal show on Friday which is local and one on Wednesday which will stream in Europe time. Including that, there is standard metal shows as well.
Cheers.

Well done, hope it does well for yus.
Have you done up a program grid yet??

thing is about quality with music like punk and hardcore allot of the greatness is that it isn't perfect that makes it great that's for me anyways, when did it change from a few mates getting together and ripping shit up at a house party into everything needs to be perfect, when the pit posted this I'm assuming they aren't looking for perfect bands but bands that need a leg up. so this is an opportunity not something to bitch about thanks guys. :headbang:
