Equipment for sale / Custom made Super Strat
« on: October 04, 2011, 04:25:08 AM »
I've decided to sell my custom made Super Strat. Reasons for selling is I've taken up bass and am moving house.
I original put this one together because I was interested in a Jackson mid-range super strat type guitar and nothing really impressed me around that price range.I didn't manufacture any part of this guitar but rather i bought the best quality parts and pieced it together. I'm selling under the cost of the parts because I'm in need of the money at the moment.

Specs:
  • Body: Jackson Dinky in White
  • Neck: Made by MJW customs (Has gotten sick apparently so he's no longer doing work, you can search for him on the net for reviews of his work. Quiet a reputable neck builder). Specs are: extra Jumbo stainless steel frets (Which last a lot longer than regular frets). Real Ebony fretboard. Satin finish on the back of the neck. Side neck dot markers.
  • Original Floyd Rose Low Profile In Black (It took me ages to find a lo-profile that was original and not licensed)
  • Dimarzio Evo 2 Neck and Bridge pickups with a 5 way pickup selector (splits the coils) and a single volume knob.
  • Grover tuners
  • Tremolo-No in the back enabling you to lock the floyd rose down and a custom backplate for easy access so you can do this live if needed.
  • Schaller strap locks
  • Metal pickup guards
  • All black hardware

As you can see, I didn't compromise with any parts as I wanted quality even if it meant I had to wait a while to get everything together. The look I went for is clean and simple with no fuss. The only part of this build I'm not 100% happy with is that I put a decal over where the tone knob should be rather than having it filled in. I opted for not having a tone knob because A) I didn't use it and B) I put the volume knob where the tone knob usually goes so it doesn't get in the way when you're picking.

I'm asking $650
As I said, I'm selling a fair bit under what the parts are worth so the price is non-negotiable. It comes with a soft case and a couple of sets of DR Black Beauties 9-42 which is what it currently has on (notice the black coating in the pictures below).

Equipment for sale / 7 string guitar - Vigier Excalibur Supra
« on: April 04, 2011, 03:58:41 AM »
I'm selling my Vigier Excalibur 7 string guitar. It's hand made in France by renown luthier Patrice Vigie. The guitar is in excellent condition and has been well looked after. I'm only selling because i haven't played guitar in a couple of years and it's just sitting around.

Tech stuff:

  • The Neck and Bridge pickups have been replaced by Bareknuckle pickups which are known for their quality and tone as each pickup is handmade in England.
  • The centre single coil has a dimarzio installed.
  • The guitar features some innovative design work with a zero fret (for better intonation) and with a part carbon fiber neck meaning there is no trust rod and it will always stay as straight as an arrow. The machine heads are locking and vigier only use the best handcrafted bridges meaning this guitar can take plenty of tremolo abuse and it will stay perfectly in tune.
  • Schaller strap locks have been installed.
  • The colour is "urban metal" and the fretboard/neck is maple.
  • This sale also comes with a warwick rockbag which is known as the best padded, best protective soft case you can find and has the advantage of not being big and lunky like a hard case. I'll also throw in a couple of sets of GHS strings 10-60.

For any other specifications please see Vigier's website:
http://www.vigierguitars.com/page/fiche_produit.php?id_prod=257&onglet=description

I'm looking for $1400. I live NOR and I'm mostly available at weekends if you want to give it a test.

I'm planning on going over to Melbourne for the first week next year so will most likely be attending all 4 shows. Can't wait to see the likes of Ensiferum, Spawn of Possession and Cynic. Way too good to miss. However Perth gets the addition of destroyer 666:

PERTH

Why is it that everytime a band overhypes their newest release it turns into a flop?

Ask Ormsby / Re: Old stereo amplifier
« on: April 16, 2009, 08:06:23 PM »
Its not an overheating problem (have tested this) and have tested the outside connections/speakers and it's nothing dodgy there. I've taken off the top and some of the soldier joints to the transformer (i think that's what it is, big black box inside with copper around it) have become dull and a couple even have a bit of rust on them. I might try re-soldiering them, but there's no danger as long as it's unplugged right? Thanks for the suggestions, in return here is an awesome tune for all of you with working home amplifiers to crank http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLsw668PVyY

Ask Ormsby / Old stereo amplifier
« on: April 16, 2009, 02:34:26 AM »
I've got an old sony amplifier (model: TA-AX320) that I've got hooked up to a cd player and my computer for listening to music. It has a problem where you'll hear some clicks and crackles and eventually the sound just cuts out, if you leave it for 10-20 minutes it then comes back on. This happens at random times (can be between 5 minutes or 5 hours) and it has started happening more frequently. Also when this happens if you tap it on the top of the unit it will start producing sound again. This is a solid state amp so no tube issues and judging by how old it is (my old man had it before i was even born) it wouldn't be worth the money to get it professionally fixed. Is there anything i can do to get this thing back to fully working order? (I'm handy with a soldering iron if that helps, although I'm not fully convinced it's a contact issue.)

Don't forget the "core" hating bandwagon goes the other way. I really didn't like gallows music but I'm loving their stuff now they've changed direction. Nothing to do with the bands image or trying to fit in, i really just didn't like the sound of their music.

This was in response to pages 12/13, i'm a bit slow eeyyyyyyy...

Really enjoyed seeing choas and UTI again. UTI remind anyone else of an Australian meshuggah? Laughed at the George Carlin quote opener. Maybe used the bill hicks positive drug story one next time :p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vX1CvW38cHA 1:44

Not sure what the hype is with this band. Didn't like their old stuff and this new track doesn't sound any better.

That's a nice post / username combo right there.

Just throwing it out there, not everyones going to have the same opinion especially when it comes to musical taste.

Like the venue and the bands so far, keep us updated. Try and get gallows on board for this.

At amps seems as though its about 50/50 between moshing and hardcore dancing. At the SSS gig i got a bit pissed off at the flailing limbs and just tripped one of the cunts over. Its normally the drunk ones who are the worst.
