Equipment for sale / WTB: "Strategy" electric guitar
« on: September 21, 2011, 09:53:49 PM »
I looking for a Strategy electric guitar, preferably White.
The model I am seeking has a set neck and a "Charvel" / "Jackson" styled headstock and three toggle switches on the body for pickup selection.

If anyone has one of these lying around that they don't play anymore, please let me know as I would be happy to buy it :)
Or if anyone sees one in a pawn-shop and gives me a heads up, I'll reward you with a paypal payment or something if I buy it.

Cheers!

Got some stuff to get rid of....

TWISTED EXPORTS CD - A rare 19-track compilation of West Australian heavy metal featuring Allegiance, Infected, Deluge, F.U.L.L, Nebula, Vanadium ... you get the idea. Basically all the bands that were about in the early to mid 90's. 'WAMCD001'
CD is in good condition, some very light scuffs on the disc surface but no bad scratches. Cover is in top condition with a full page featuring bio and photo for every band on the CD. A good collectable for anyone into the history of the local music/metal scene. $30

Some other stuff that is stinking up my collection (all cds in As New condition unless noted)

-Soilwork 'Natural Born Chaos' CD (First Press Ltd Digipak version) $23
-Soilwork 'Figure Number Five' 2CD (First Press with bonus disc of Steel Bath era demo) $23
-Opeth 'Ghost Reveries' CD/DVD Digipack $23
-NASUM Tribute CD (Power It Up Records) Brand new, unplayed (Only selling 'coz I have two copies  ;)). A fucking rad 53-track compilation of awesome bands paying tribute to one of the best second-generation Grindcore bands. $20
-Kevin Talley's Drum DVD (Dying Fetus, Misery Index etc). Bought off eBay ages ago. Disc is autographed by Kevin and has accompanying letter of other DVDs he sells (Slayer rehearsal etc.). Pretty neat DVD with some tips on technique (blasting and dbl kick as well as some footage of Kevin just jamming away on some groovy beats etc.) $15

I can only take PayPal for this stuff, and all prices include postage. If anyone wants to buy more than one thing of course I will adjust the price in your favour to count for multiple items. PM if interested.

Also the limited version of Figure Number Five... The 1997 demo is actually pretty awesome, but I just can't stomach the album.  :(

Hmm ... that band that stole Carcass' Tools of the Trade artwork for a t-shirt design? I'm sure they'll be greatly missed.  :raspberry:

Just curious however, which one of you guys was the homosexual in the band?
The cat's out of the bag....  :police: hehe

Out of curiosity can anyone do an interview?
I'll take this one.... yes, I'd say just about anyone can do an interview.

Moving on, the only band ive left my house to see in the last 2-3 years is Chaos Divine.

Why are you looking for decent bands when your standards are that low?

Is Christopher Truswell really gonna be there, or is that some "whacky" band name. I want the first option!  :)

At least BM is not grindcore.

Speaking of which, I saw a good grind band the other day. Chainsaw Abortion. Go check em out if you get a chance, they hail from down Mandurah way i believe.

there shit anyway

black mettal is ok for a bit but then it's like no BRO hahahaha
 ::)

No.... there's a Chainsaw Aboriton from Mandurah,  Do some googling. Although they are certainly not grind in my opinion!!

Do you mean Behemoth in particular? It's very clinical. It sounds good in it's own way but there is very little 'earthiness' about it.
Hmm... Yeah, I wasn't thinking of Behemoth when I worte that, but I do know what you mean.
There are many bands in the extreme genre that over-do the production so that there are no time fluctuations and the drums just sound like a type-writer.
It becomes very tiring to the ears and mind extremely fast when you hear such rigid, 'perfect' sound.
For this reason, I don't really like many albums made after about 1995. Any band that I do like from any later period is (generally speaking) heavily influenced by or trying to emulate the sounds and style of a 90's death metal band  :P

1989 or BUST!!

Luckily vocal ability is not a requirement for a teenage toilet grind band who play for beer.
Just ask Maxi Pee... haha  ;)
I love SVRT666s vocals too... They are pretty uninque.

I'm pretty proud of the two HBH cds for the fact that they don't have production, and everything was recorded on cassette in one take with no drop-ins or Protools 'fix-ups'. So what you get is raw, unrefined, passionately hateful grind/blackmetal full of slip-ups and HUMAN ERROR. I would rather listen to a crusty mistake-ridden punk/crust/grind recording any day over sterile, computer-edited technical "brutal" metal.

I named that zine. Well, stole it from Carcass and told Dyson, rather....
Haha, Matt... that F.G. quote always cracks me up  ;) I have a Fuck Ya Ears sticker on my CD player. Stickers on appliances... brighten any room!

I'm gonna join in....  :woot:
I had a Rapeseed logo sticker on my old VCR. Unfortunately it died, and I failed to salvage the sticker before I threw the kaput VCR in the bin.

I just keep my ears open for the latest obscure band that everyone is talking about, download a discography torrent then act like have been in to them since....forever.
That's what people do, right?  :P

This gig will be fun... The Beards are fantastic and a must for anyone in to bands like Tenacious D or Flight of the Conchords (ie serious sounding music with a nice dose of humour mixed in)

Die Scoundrels have a few songs off their new CD available to be heard here:

How is it an insult? It's a parody via way of ridiculous juxtaposition. Nosaj, do you get all huffy when you watch Spinal Tap or Metalocalypse because it portrays metal heads as bone-headed simpletons? Or is it OK because the creators "understand" metal  ::)

PS: Goldfrapp's Felt Mountain is a masterpeice.

Sounds fantastic!! Reminds me a lot of the surf music from John Zorn's music romance series.  :)
In fact, I notice some trad Klezmer stuff played by Tim Sparks that's been released on Tzadik amongst the titles on their CDs.

Equipment for sale / Schaller M6B locking machine-heads
« on: June 03, 2010, 12:58:55 AM »
http://guitar-machine-heads.com/hp14325/M6B-I-Locking.htm
I recently bought a set of brand new German-made Schaller 3-a side locking machine heads (black) from the UK for my guitar but I found they won't fit as the headstock is too thick  :(
If anyone is interested in taking them, I'm happy to sell them for AU$55 (what I paid). The list price of these is in the area of US$108 I believe.
They'd make a nice addition to an axe if they'll fit :) PM me if interested.

The Chopper sketches are insanely awesome. I've never actually seen anything else from the show, haha.
Hmmm , I always found it more an impersonation of Eric Bana impersonating Chopper  :err:
