Whoever chose the music between sets should realize not everyone wanks themselves to death over prog every minute of every day

From memory some of the bands that got played were Periphery, Sikth, Hacride, Memfis, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Barren Earth and Textures among others. Not exactly wanky prog there.

I'd go to a TAPOUT gig provided they write songs about how much of a faggot Frank Mir is.

I assume that's the title track for your first album though.

He broke Tim Sylvias arm so surely that must hold a place in your heart? My moneys on Mir for the weekend, Cro Cops eye is shot and he hasn't been in great form lately.

The two biggest influences on me are:

Sean Reinert

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cP-LbS7XEs0

Gavin Harrison

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzFfNk4xGTE&feature=related

There are guys out there that are faster or have more impressive solos, but no one inspires me to get behind my drumkit more than these two. They are technical, but they always seem to play for the song and not their ego.

Speeding doesn't cause accidents, nor does driving slow. Its bad driving and nothing more. If you saw the report Mark Skaife did a few weeks back on channel 7, it all came down to poor education with driving. We teach people how to pass a test, not how to drive. We need mandatory advanced driving courses and a reform of our testing standards.

The only one of these new cameras I go near is Roe Hwy/Kalamunda Rd because I live in High Wycombe, but I'm always turning at that intersection so I'll never get busted.

You guys are ALL full of shit.

Atheists think they are so smart but in reality they have no more proof of their beliefs than Christians do. You are all just as brainwashed and part of a cult as you claim Christians to be, science is based on faith and not fact in any sense that Christianity is not, it is a religion as much as any other.

Why? Do you know the basic principles of science?

    1. Use your experience: Consider the problem and try to make sense of it. Look for previous explanations. If this is a new problem to you, then move to step 2.
    2. Form a conjecture: When nothing else is yet known, try to state an explanation, to someone else, or to your notebook.
    3. Deduce a prediction from that explanation: If you assume 2 is true, what consequences follow?
    4. Test: Look for the opposite of each consequence in order to disprove 2. It is a logical error to seek 3 directly as proof of 2. This error is called affirming the consequent.

What does this mean? All scientific conclusions are based on previous scientific conclusions. This is circular logic. You cannot prove something by using the very thing you are trying to prove as evidence. All scientific information is based on FAITH in science and has no logical proof behind it what-so-ever. You know who recognizes this? Almost every credible scientist you can think of that's who. It was pointed out by David Hume a philosopher and scientist one of the master minds behind quantum mechanics. The only people who ignore this are stubborn cult leaders like Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins.

I am sick of uneducated morons parading around acting as if they are superior because they are Atheists, your beliefs are no more credible than anyone else's. Not only do you have no understanding of logic and reason the majority have little to no understanding of the science they are claiming to be proof of their belief system.

Its not really a circular logic. There are two principles in science; laws and theories. Laws are universal and cannot be derived, like relativity. Theories are formed from observations of the real world, such as gravity or the model of the atom. Scientific models are built up around theories and make many predictions. As science progresses these predictions are put to the test and a lot of the time hold true, there is no faith involved in real world testing as you can actually see the results yourself to confirm your prediction.

And I can't find anything that links David Hume to quantum mechanics, probably because quantum mechanics didn't really come around until about 100 years ago.

Extol from Norway are amazing and just happen to be christian.

no

no they are not.

i dont understand how you can be in a metal band and play metal which is all about (for the most part) individuality, non conforming, free thinking and still be void of all these things in your belief systems and follow it  along willingly. it confuses me  :hmm:

They create music that I enjoy listening to, I couldn't care about their personal beliefs. You telling me that I shouldn't listen to them because of their beliefs is just like the church telling others what they should and shouldn't do.

Their last album was pretty crap, but their early material, around Burial, was brilliant.

I love the Blueprint Dives  ;D

Well in a strange turn of events, it looks like all the positions have been filled except for keyboards. So, anyone out there up to it?

Stop getting bogged down in genres and just enjoy the music for what it is. Thats what I've always thought at least.

But Good luck, Blake! Look forward to hearing it  ;D

Thanks Alex!

« on: May 20, 2010, 01:36:56 AM »
Recently established melodic/death/doom band consisting of myself on drums and Cody (Make Them Suffer) on guitars. Currently looking for members to complete the lineup; another guitarist, bass, keyboards and vocals. Vocalist should be comfortable with both cleans and growls.

Have one song up in guitar pro format and ready to send off to those interested, with a few more songs on the way.

Influences; My Dying Bride, Daylight Dies, Swallow the Sun, Katatonia, Agalloch, Opeth, etc

In fact, read/listen to all of his articles, they are damn interesting. My favourite is the one about nuclear power.

I got two good friends at uni, ones a muslim and the other a christian (as well as a massive black metal fan, they must be more common than we think). Even though my views are the complete opposite of theirs, I don't care because they are genuinely nice people who I am happy to call friends. My problem has never been with people who practise religion, just with the fundamentalists and organisations, most notably the vatican after this massive child abuse came to light. Also, I fully support the south park boys, who I have an ever growing respect for; freedom of speech should always come before freedom of religion.

The only similarity I see with Opeth is the mixture of harsh and clean vocals, and maybe song length. I see more of a melodic doom and prog rock influence coming through in Noctis's music.

Woah, best show I have ever seen, no doubt (sound aside). Such a genuinely nice and humble guy when we met him afterwards, he even seemed quite emotional and overwhelmed by the crowds response. Heres some crappy pics I took from the barrier http://img214.imageshack.us/g/img0332pd.jpg/

DSO are alright, a bit hit and miss. I highly recommend Sikth. Guess you could classify them as mathcore, but the amount of different influences that come through their music is amazing. Shame they are no longer around.

Thats some seriously chilled and atmospheric stuff, will definetly have to grab a copy from you sometime. As Alex said, it reminds me of the more mellow passages from Devin Townsend's Ocean Machine.

Whats the set list like? I have a feeling it will be heavy with songs from the last two albums. I'll buy it regardless, mostly just to see the Haley brothers slaughter their instruments.
