Wow. That just sounded ... totally gay.

General discussion / Re: Perth - Great place to live?
« on: December 03, 2009, 04:21:41 AM »
I'm with you, Brenton. 2 weeks in Europe over a month ago and I still can't stop thinking about how badly I wanna move over there. Seems to be a commonality between places outside Australia that the people are actually nice!

Best part about these places is the weather though. What I'd give to live in a place that snows...

The only reason you think people are 'nicer' in Europe is because you're ignorant of the real culture and you see it from a tourist's point of view. Statistically there's way more violent crimes there than in Perth. Maybe you felt safer there but that's only because you haven't been brought up in those area's so you don't know what it's really like.

I am from Europe, and although it does have some seriously good shit going on (on the metal front that is), you do not want to move there permanently. Take my word for it.

How can it be that Gordon Ramsay makes a few out of place comments on tv and the media has a field day over it and basically rips into him saying he's sexist and insensitive.

Borat makes a movie full of sexist, biased comments on unsuspecting victims and it gets glorified on the big screen in Hollywood and dvd's and the media supports him. What is up with that?

Yes, I know Borat is acting but the actions aren't really that different are they? The biggest difference I see is that Gordon Ramsay didn't pay the media beforehand.

I absolutely resent being told via billboards, buses, taxis, ninemsn, television etc. "You loved him as Borat". Don't I decide that for myself? Well, the fact is I didn't.

Some people I spoke to about this think I'm over reacting but I refuse to be conditioned by this bullshit. There is a revolution coming.

I find Gordon Ramsay pretty fucking hilarious, too.

General discussion / Re: Tax and Tax returns for bands?
« on: May 21, 2009, 05:20:25 AM »
I assumed that's the case - but wonder how many do? Is it simply a tax deduction, so you pay less tax per quarter when lodging BAS? Or are bands not bothering to lodge a quarterly BAS due to low 'income'?

That... makes no sense. Are we talking income tax or GST here? Maybe I misunderstood what you were saying, but... BAS Statements have nothing to do with low or high income. BAS Statements are used to report to the ATO the GST you received / paid during each quarter. That's if you are registered for GST.  Which you are required to do if you are running a business and your annual turnover (income) exceeds $75k. If you carry on a business and your  turnover is less than $75k per year, you can choose to register for GST, i.e. it is optional.

General discussion / Circle pits
« on: March 11, 2009, 04:56:49 AM »
Call me boring and old-fashioned, but what the fuck is it with circle pits?

It irritates the shit out of me when getting pushed to the side at a good metal gig just so I can make room for a bunch of mad cunts wanting to run around in a huge circle. Seriously. Get some balls and bring back the moshpit you pussies.  :headbang:
