Dedicated to bringing the Aussie metal public all the latest news from the local scene, MetalObsession.net now needs your help to stay alive and strong! And what better way to do it than out on a gig for you! Saturday March 6th is the date, and the venue, Melbourne?s Corner Hotel.

On the back of their 2009 album Set in Stone, Sydney?s LORD brings their catchy, energetic live show back to Melbourne to headline the night. Local support comes in the form of melodic thrashers Dreadnaught, groove metallers Frankenbok, quirky prog rockers Toehider, and straight-up thrashers Septerrus. Do the Aussie metal scene a favour, and come over for a night of stellar local talent.

International / 'Best of 2009' Results on MetalObsession.net

With voting now closed in Metal Obsession?s ?Best of 2009′ readers poll, it is time to announce those albums which made an imprint on the Australian heavy metal public. With a massive increase of votes in this year?s edition spread over 69 Australian releases and 98 International?s, the list?s that you will see below cover a fairly broad cross-section of the scenes both internationally and here in Australia.

Victoria / Ruins and Black Cobra to play at Melbourne International Arts Festival

The Melbourne International Arts Festival takes on a slightly metal edge this year, with the screening of ?Heavy Metal in Baghdad?, a feature length documentary that follows the Iraqi heavy metal band Acrassicauda from the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003 to the present day.

To celebrate the screening of the documentary, organisers have put together a small gig after the screening that showcases some quality black metal and doom metal music in the form of Ruins (Tas) and Black Cobra (USA).

Greets WA!

Some of you might already have heard about the website, but just to try and spread the word a little morethe site offers heaps of news articles posted daily (or close to), album reviews, interviews, gig photos, state by state gig guide and forums. The site has also just undergone a massive re-design, but it's almost back at 100% again!

We also always try to offer our readers some regular giveaways - and there's one online now to win tickets to the Lamb of God tour with one guarenteed double pass to the Perth show!
