Western Australia / ANGER MANGEMENT Will Not Be Returning in 2012
« on: January 10, 2012, 07:14:44 PM »
Hi All,

After a few months of discussion, it has been decided that Anger Management on 107.3HFM will not be returning this year.
Several factors have contributed to us making this decision, but I can sum it up by saying that we are no longer able to produce the quality of show that we would like to/or able to, and therefore its best to step aside and focus on other projects.
Many of you WFers have either tuned in to the show or been on it at some point, or participated in some way over the last 6.5 years, and it has always been a pleasure.

Cheers
Deryk Thomas on behalf of the AM team.

General discussion / Video Hits - Dead at 24
« on: July 06, 2011, 01:01:54 AM »
Good Riddance !!!
Good work Lauchy & David Mott!

Ten has decided to pull the plug on its long running music show Video Hits after 24 years.

The final show will be broadcast on Saturday, August 6 with hosts Dylan Lewis and Faustina "Fuzzy" Agolley celebrating its contribution to the music industry over the past two decades.

Ten's chief programming officer David Mott says the decision to axe the long running show was made because of the changing nature of the music industry.

"Video Hits' contribution to the network and the music industry over the past 24 years has been outstanding," Mott says.

"Music and how people listen to it, watch it and enjoy it has changed dramatically in last few years and now is the perfect time for the institution that is Video Hits to sign off. The show will always hold a special place in Ten's history."

Video Hits premiered on Ten on February 15, 1987 and has helped establish the careers of many Australian artists including Missy Higgins, Angus & Julia Stone and Art Vs Science.

It also attracted some of the music industry's biggest international stars such as Beyonce and U2.

While it started as a music video clip program it evolved to include interviews and live music events

WA Gigs / All I Wanted Was Just 1 Pepsi
« on: December 09, 2010, 03:03:14 AM »
SUICIDAL TENDENCIES were never afraid of a little controversy. The godfathers of crossover thrash and creators of skate punk have dedicated their careers to delivering the middle finger salute to anyone who opposed their views (which included LA authorities who banned them for playing in the city for 6 years)

Playing their irrepressible blend of punk, thrash, and hardcore, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES are certainly true to their ideals of 'no rules.' Mike Muir's extreme sincerity and full of rage ravings have garnered the ST Army the world over. "In typical fashion the band was explosive in their playing with Mike running all over the stage delivering his lines. The whole building seemed to shake with everyone screaming as one." - Metal Army

Unbelievably influential, without SUICIDAL TENDENCIES you would not have the myriad of thrash metal and vicious hard-core bands that permeate the modern musical landscape. Delivering the fast-paced, aggressive and raw sound they pioneered, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES will be getting Cyco on their Australian tour next May?ST?.ST?.ST?.ST!

Western Australia / Critical Mass TONIGHT! RTRFM 92.1
« on: November 09, 2010, 03:23:41 AM »
Metal Radio in Perth is set for a shake-up, with confirmation today that the Anger Management DJ's will partner up with Brenton and the Critical Mass crew, permanently from this Wednesday night 9pm on RTR FM 92.1.

The Anger Management Radio program on 107.3FM will remain unaffected, business as usual.

The two shows will run on some kind of crazy rotation system in the short term while we figure this out. Theres been an alliance forming behind the scenes for quite sometime now, and we all feel that this will benefit local metal on the airwaves.

On behalf of the AM crew I'd like to thank Brenton and the RTR management for what should be a positive move for all.

So there it is.. its out there.

It all begins Wednesday night, so tune in and support Critical Mass in its new format.

HEAVY METAL?S ?BIG FOUR? METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH, ANTHRAX COMMEMORATE THEIR HISTORIC CONCERTS TOGETHER ON JUNE 22nd AT THE SONISPHERE FESTIVAL CONCERT TO BE BEAMED VIA SATELLITE FROM SOFIA, BULGARIA TO MOVIE THEATERS AROUND THE WORLD SCREENING IN AUSTRALIAN CINEMAS.

CAPTURED LIVE  ON JULY 9 & 10 @ CINEMA PARADISO at 9.15pm

In December 2009, the bands announced that they would be joining forces to take part in the traveling Sonisphere Festival for only 7 shows across Europe. Now, this one-time only event from the Sofia show makes it possible for fans far and wide to participate in what otherwise is a very limited run of dates. The highdefinition concert presentation will memorialize the event and the impact will be amplified globally with the cinema screenings, making the dreams of fans around the world over become a reality.

Lars Ulrich of Metallica says of this historic announcement, "Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal's Big Four would not only still be around, be more popular than ever, playing shows together at stadiums all over Europe, and on top of that, coming to a movie theater near you in High Definition (for better or worse??!!). Bring it on!"

Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian says ?Damn, as if this Big 4 tour wasn't exciting enough now we get to be on the big screen worldwide! Metal at the movies, two big horns up!  Get your tix, grab some popcorn and get ready to bang your head!?

"Experience the greatest line up of Heavy Metal in the history of the world!?

19
"Rising from the ashes of legendary Californian stoner doom metal legends Sleep, Al Cisneros and Chris Hakius survived a well documented melt down after the recording of their Swan Song Jerusalem, later know as Dope Smoker, to form what has become one of the most original and innovative bands of the modern psych, drone and doom metal genre, so much so they?ve spawned a sea of imitators that don?t even come close to the purity and hypnotic ambience that OM have become so famous for.

Tickets: On sale as of Friday 21st of May from venues and selected ticketing outlets

Thursday 15th July : Adelaide, Fowlers Live
Friday 16th July : Melbourne, Hi Fi Bar
Saturday 17th July: Sydney, Factory Theatre

Western Australia / A statement regarding The Castle
« on: May 06, 2010, 01:59:16 AM »
I received a phone call today, which has confirmed that The Castle will NOT be re-opening its doors to live music, once the structural renovations to the premises have been finalised.
The owner has stated that the support that the venue has through local bands is not enough to warrant the expense of re-fitting and improving the layout of the venue.
Details regarding what the venue will become is not known at this time and is under consideration.

We have lost another venue in an already shrinking LIVE venue market, soon enough local bands will be playing in peoples backyards.
This means the top established bands will continue to pull in the punters, through headline shows and tour supports, and the new and upcoming bands will increasingly be forced to find other ways to establish themselves on the scene because they wont be able to play many gigs.
I'm not saying right now, but definately into the future unless more venues are established. I hope it doesnt come to this.

Western Australia / TUD it up !!
« on: December 05, 2009, 06:04:40 AM »
I was disappointed to hear the news during the week, that long serving radio show "The Unfathomed Depths" will be shouting their last "Listen or DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!" this Thursday on HeritageFM 10pm.

Since the departure of Dave Berry, Macca and Adam have stepped up to the plate for the last few years, and as fellow Heritage FMers, on behalf of AM, we wish the guys all the best for giving up their Thursday nights to play metal on the radio .  :headbang:
Their teenage groupie callers will have to find someone else to harass and proposition now in their impending absence.

THURSDAY 10pm is the last TUD show, so tune in and send em out in style...
