Guitar guy, driven but laid back. if I didn;t enjoy it I wouldn't do it., but fuck. It's metal right.

I am not really into the "hey come over to my house and watch me play Children of Bodom covers"..  I'm looking for original thinking to develop a sound and have a blast doing it. Hang out in the studio, pass the awkward new stage as quickly as possible and get cracking. I like sessions to be productive but relaxed.

I like folk, melodic death, power, viking, prog and black metals... I listen to most of everything, but I don't really like anything American styles, no issue with the place, just the sound isn't my thing. I don't care about 'making it' but I do care about playing live and all the associated awesomeness.

I don't care about structure of the band or talent, you probably need ok gear, nothing fancy, but it wants to go loud. I have no time frame, i don't care if i'm playing till i'm Janick Gers old. I don't care if you're young or old, just as long as you don't talk or think immaturely. I'm not after a scene, or recognition. I just miss collaboration and getting amped on ideas and thrilled on fruition.

I ask that you be reliable and show up, be ambitious and trustworthy, say what you mean and mean what you say, but not elitist and rude.

Lemme know if you're keen 0449 288 404. We'll jam when we have a crew. If it's fun, we'll keep going.

Here's one now.  From Encyclopaedia Metallum review for Winsun's self titled, which i quite like...

Pestilent redundancy - 39%
Written by Trilogique on April 21st, 2009

Over the years, my musical interests have evolved slowly, but surely. It went from Slipknot and Korn to Killswitch Engage and modern In Flames. Alas, my tolerance for music with technicality rose and any album that can place excessive solos and guitar squeals in an efficient manner without sounding too audacious, I'd listen to it (production and vocals evidently coming in to play). When I hit this stage, my friends were constantly recommending Wintersun. I was being spammed with links to "Beyond the Dark Sun" on a daily basis. At first, the music came across as brash and full of abhorrent wankery, but in due time, I loved the song. It was time to get their debut.

I'd say at 39% he was disappointed by its awesomeness.

International / Wacken 2010
« on: December 23, 2009, 04:18:17 PM »
For those of you who haven't noticed, Wacken 2010 is shaping up to be the greatest line up of all time with guns like Slayer, Alice Cooper and Iron funckin' MAIDEN recently climbing aboard.  I've already comissioned an inspection my internal organs and investigated which ones can be sold to raise the neccesary funds.  With roughly half the amount of bands shown, it would mean there is still even chances again to make all our wiledst dreams come true.

Who do you want to see on the bill and why?

For me:

Dark Tranquillity
Cryptic Wintermoon
Graveworm...because it means they'll serve pasta at Wacken.
Testament... ridiculously awesome live
Korpiklaani... crazy moshing fun in the mud...
Amon Amarth... i have arthritic shoulder capsules from all the fist pumping the last few times i've seen em.
Sirenia... bottom heavy hot chicks rock (right 'Nard?)
The Finnish Contigent. To join Amorphis
Best fucking land of metal any of the WINTERFUCKINGSUN, EToS, Kalmah, Diablo, Kiuas, Norther, Turisas, Charon, Sonata Arctica, Bodom, Imperenon, Twilightning, Insomnium, Finntroll, Stam1na, Thy Serpent or the mighty Agathodaimon :headbang:

General discussion / Global Metal Cuture vs Perth
« on: December 20, 2009, 09:07:45 PM »
I just watched Sam Dunn's Global Metal (Thanks for the tip Daz) and it made me realise how full of shit half the things i think about metal are:

Elitism.  You're not awesome if you hate shit.
Bogans. You're not awesome if you don't read books.
Image. If you aren't having fun because you wanna look cool then you are a fuckhead.
Sound.  How many time have heard I really like <insert local metal act> but they sound too <insert international band/genre/country>
Racism. Sure, Indians annoy us all, but there are indians that annoy metalhead indians as well.   ;)

Just kidding on the last one, but i just realised i'm probably as polarizing as anyone is some of these things.  I hate American metal, i hate emo kids that come to our shows and do those fly-kicky thingies, i hate the kid that is wearing a Dark Throne shirt that comes up to me and asks me where Immortal are from.  I hate the "I love these guys simply because only two other people in the world have heard of them" conversations. I hate the "How the fuck could any music come from anywhere but a burnt church cemetary hidden under the icy canopy of a frostbitten forest.."

More than ANY of those things.  I hate generic societies that conform individuals though cultural expectations, and everyday things that take place in ouyr "advancing world" I hate the "fuck my internet died i need tech help, what what fucking language are you speaking am i just talking to a computer with an indian accent???" moments... where you just wanna grab the poor souless fucker on the other end of the line and yell "Think man, Think for yourself and be free" while shaking him so viciously his teeth rattle, only to watch him step off, straighten his four cent tie and two cent business shirt and calmly return to his seat in a hastily erected office space...

If metal teaches us anything, it is this.  There is more to people than the collective expectation of a mass of invented ideals and historical repetition.

that, is why all those things above don't matter, even in a tiny village full of peasants called Perth.

Because metal is fucking cool.

General discussion / Who made this...
« on: August 01, 2009, 09:01:03 PM »
Its from here, there was a thread floating around, buggered if i can find it tho.

I thought that it was done by Roland, but when i tried to credit him with it last night at the Voyager/Chaos Descending gig he looked at me like i just pwned his Lvl 80 Paladin/Mage with a honey-covered treebranch...

I'd tend to back my recollection over his since i am hardly ever wrong.   ;D

I put it up here and whacked some nice scenery i had lying around so you don;t get visually bored.

Love the cold rejection...  Terls.. how many times has this number appeared in your phone..  ;D

seems to be closing, and the core guys are such a disappointment to humanity.  Hopefully their gay earlobe wideners get infected soon and they all decompose then die, then decompose again some more.
