« on: October 18, 2011, 04:25:44 AM »
Here is a 20-second "sneak-peak" at what Evolution Machine has been working diligently on over the past 3 months. No vocals recorded as of yet - Comments/suggestions from our supporters are WELCOME and please accept this as a quick "thankyou" to the wonderful people who have braved the elements to come and support us since our inception.

At this point the EP should be ready by Summer 2011. Updates (and perhaps more sneak previews!) to follow

For those that don't know, the Paddo is having live original bands every Wednesday night. Its FREE ENTRY and its all over by 11:00, so it doesn't have to be a late one for those who work!

Mr Mike Mangini.

A really good fit I think. Great player and that slightly eccentric personality thatll make him unique in DT.
I really dug the audition process too!

I think this is great news for original music around town.
I dont know what their official stance is on metal just yet, but irrespective, theyre still giving original stuff a look-in, and desrve to be supported.

If those of you with Facebook could spare a minute to 'like' their official page for it, itd be much appreciated

Greetings all.

www.damienpetrilli.com

In addition to drum related material, I have been hosting the names of rehearsal studios, writing reviews, listing teachers and promoting local drummers etc as a labour of love and a contribution to the local scene.

I have noticed that the grand majority of hits have been centred around the reviews/interviews and more specifically the rehearsal rooms pages. Obviously, since this page has been helpful, I am now re-doing the website to focus more on this aspect of the local scene.

I want to include a similar page dedicated to recording studios and teaching schools .

If anyone has a recording studio or knows of one in their area, could you please pm me relevent details (number, address, etc) so that I can start compiling the data?

Thanks in advance!

General discussion / Ebay scammer getting his just rewards
« on: May 02, 2010, 08:15:05 PM »
Lets hope the cops see the right perspective on this one.

http://www.robshilimon.com/

Just read this this morning - posted through another site - Wow, over 40,000 hits now!

A guy that has been scammed on ebay has set up a site under the scammers name and is publicly shaming him, which the scammer is obivously unhappy about and is taking legal action for defamation.

For anyone that buys stuff through ebay, you may find this interesting.

Click on the "Read about my experience" link and see what has transpired thus far...

Whattaya think? should this guy be punished for his website? The law says he should...But if you're defaming a law-breaker whos ripped you off, should there be a grounds for it?

Every so often, a local band will crank out a tune so awesome that even punters who wouldnt normally see the band inexplicably end up knowing the song.

What go down as your top few local songs of all time?

Upon further inspection, ForumTeam was registered today and is from the US.

Needless to say, I didnt click the link.

Other people may have received this private mesage too, so just warning one and all!

Sound Advice / Kosmic Sound assistance goes live! (Via MSN)
« on: October 06, 2009, 08:40:54 PM »
In addition to the forums, Kosmic Sound is now re-instating its very popular online live MSN assistance line.

As an added customer service measure, If you use MSN and require advice from Kosmic, you can now talk to a person real-time in addition to sending emails, visiting the store or making a phone call.

You can utilise the Kosmic Online account by adding the following contact email address into MSN:

kosmicsound@hotmail.com

Please then message us, telling us:
FULL NAME
WHICH INSTRUMENT you play

In its early stages, I plan to activate the live assist for only a portion of the trading day to gauge its initial effect, and its time of use will depend on in-store traffic and availability - Gotta serve the in-store people first!

A few points to remember...

If you don't get a response straight away, please don't be discouraged - we will get to you ASAP.

If you see the Kosmic account offline and wish to ask a question, please leave a name, message and contact number so we can get back to you once we get back online. Alternatively, ring or email the store as usual.

Please do not use the Kosmic MSN Live Assistance line for random talk, as we don't have time for general chatting, and please keep your requests short and concise.

Cheers

Musician Connection / DRUMSCENE WA DRUMMER UPDATES - Send me your info
« on: October 02, 2009, 07:00:30 PM »
Thats right, friends, its that time again.

If you are a WA drummer and active in the local scene, its time to submit to me your latest information for the National Drumscene report.

Of course its free, and is a great way to keep the Nation informed with what you (the drummer) and your band have done or are about to do.

Recording a demo? Going on tour? playing your first gig? Bought new gear? Set up a new band website? Changed drum brands? etc etc. Think free exposure!

If you would like to be mentioned, please pm me your full name, your band (if applicable) and a few sentences about what you're up to.

Naturally, I require drummer info only - Submissions close October 16.

International / Yngwie ripping off Black Steel???
« on: September 01, 2009, 02:29:26 AM »
Now, I know Im perhaps too close to Black Steel to see this objectively, so I ask you if you think these two tracks have remarkably similar sections to them.

Additionally, Black Steel gave Ripper Owens a copy of their Battle Call EP when they supported Judas Priest a few years back. Now this Malmsteen song pops up with Ripper singing on it.

You be the judge...
