Hello all!

My name is Daniel, from the local Perth progressive metal outfit 'Morphica'. In 2011/12 we played many shows to appreciative crowds, showcasing a wide variety of covers of some of the big named progressive metal icons, such as Dream Theater, Symphony X, Pain Of Salvation, and Haken. In 2013 other musical commitments forced us to take a hiatus. Now in 2014 we are back playing together again with a new focus on original music and a revived sense of enthusiasm. We recently performed at a successful show at the Amplifier Bar supporting our local metal fame 'Voyager'. Perhaps you were there and witnessed it yourself? In any case, we are beyond eager to push our music out there as far as we can but we may need your help to do so!

I am posting here today to announce that we are looking for a new vocalist to join in and move forward with us, and to help us create some great new progressive music. We are interested in hearing, and hearing from, any interested vocalists who would like to audition for the position. We have some previously recorded material from our prior demo release, linked below, which we would welcome you to listen to. Although we have already recorded material with a singer, who is no longer with us, we are open to variation in vocal style, and plan to write new songs with our next vocalist's nature and strengths in mind.

Of course, what we require in a vocalist is most likely self evident to those interested, and not unlike that of some of our influences already mentioned above, which we imagine any interested parties would appreciate and understand. That being said, we would prefer if you had:
- A strong appreciation of progressive metal and rock.
- A good sense of musical understanding, with regards to progressive staples like atypical rhythms and song structures.
- Prior experience in a band, and/or experience in a live performance environment.
- Sufficient availability to be able to commit to weekly or twice-weekly rehearsals, gigs and future recording and touring.

Anyone who is interested, can feel free to reply here, or SMS me at 0420353514. If you have any pre-recorded material or something similar that you would like to send to us, my email is daniel.parker@morphicaband.com.

Equipment for sale / Bass amp head - Warwick PRO FET III 300W - SOLD
« on: January 26, 2012, 08:08:11 PM »
For sale is a Warwick PRO FET III 300W head, which I no longer need as I have moved on to a rackmount/power amp set up, and need to save up to buy a new cab.

Not in the greatest cosmetic condition, but otherwise totally functional.
- 5 band EQ with frequency sweepable mid-control, and low boost/high boost buttons, which can be placed pre or post DI.
- Input limiter
- XLR/Speakon out
- FX loop, tuner out and line out

Can't remember exactly how much I paid for it (bought it second hand), but I'll ask for $300, and am open to reasonable offers.

Unfortunately, I can't include a Speakon/XLR lead, as I only have one, which I need for my other amp, but they are readily available from most music stores and some electronics stores (Altronics, Jaycar, etc).

If interested, reply here or via SMS (0420353514)

UPDATE: Amp is sold... mods/admin, feel free to delete this thread.

Up for sale is an unused/new condition EMG 45CS (Ceramic/Steel) active pickup, for a 6-string bass guitar. I received this uninstalled/unopened with my 6-string bass, and initially planned to install it upon purchasing another EMG pickup and EQ system, but I've decided that I'm happy with the stock pickups in my bass, and I need to save for an amp upgrade first. The pickup comes in its original padded box, with all wiring, pots, etc included. The plastic wrapping on the pickup itself has been opened, but that was only to inspect it closer to see if it fit my bass' existing pickup routing, it has not been otherwise used in anyway.

Description from official site (http://www.emginc.com/products/index/127/29/2):
Part of our Extended Series, the 45CS, with its modern appearance is actually a product of 30+ years of design experience. Reproducing an extended range cleanly - both higher AND lower - taxes the abilities of conventional pickups. In the 45CS, we have succeeded in getting this extended range by utilizing an ultra low noise, low-impedance internal preamp, paired with parallel placed coils like the DC, but loaded with ceramic steel. The result is that the 45CS is much warmer as a result of the higher inductance of the steel, and thus has a smoother attack and a flatter high end. They are the most "Traditional" sounding of the group. This model uses an extended housing that is 4.5 inches (115mm), perfect for most six string spacing?s. From classic rock to heavy metal this pickup performs.

The pickup retails for around $279.00 AUS.

I'm thinking $200 is a fair price, but I am open to offers before I chuck this up on eBay.

Contact either by replying in this thread, or sending me a PM.

Equipment for sale / FS: 5-String Ibanez Bass (GSR205), BLACK
« on: April 02, 2009, 09:52:00 PM »
I acquired this bass a few months ago, but since purchasing a six-string bass, I feel I no longer need this one, as I already have another 5-string as a backup. Basically, I have no need for it, and it's not getting the love all basses deserve, so it needs a new home.

The bass plays well, I just gave the truss-rod a slight adjustment and corrected the intonation. It's also in great condition, with only one minor scratch/chip at the back edge of the bass, where it goes unnoticed. The bass would be perfect for someone new to 5-strings, as the neck is just about as thin as a 4-string, making it a good transitional bass. I guess it could also be a backup for someone else too.

Musician Connection / Progressive metal - seeking vocalist...
« on: March 30, 2009, 10:26:55 PM »
Hello, we are forming a new progressive metal band, and are now seeking a vocalist to complete the line-up.

Each of us have a wide variety of influence within and outside of progressive metal, but centered on bands such as Symphony X, Adagio, Seventh Wonder, Andromeda, etc. The list goes on. We currently have a keyboardist, guitarist, bassist and drummer. We previously had a female vocalist, but she had to leave to focus on her other commitments. We thank her for her interest and time with the band.

In a vocalist, we seek someone with a good CLEAN voice and range, we're not after an extreme metal vocalist (although the ability to perform death grunts or black metal rasps additionally can't hurt, as there's a small chance we'd feel like incorporating them, in the vain of songs such as "Dominate" by Adagio, or "Direction Perfection" by Dragonland). Ideally, someone with similar influence would be best. While we're open to either a male or female vocalist, we think a male vocalist would probably be most suitable.

If you are interested and feel you have what it takes, please reply here or PM.

Thank you.

Hello, I'm putting up an ad here to search for a guitarist and vocalist for a progressive power metal project. Tom and I (both of Morden fame) posted an ad for this previously, before the server crash, where it was lost into the digital abyss, but upon finding an excellent keyboard player, our interest in writing and performing progressive power metal has been re-ignited!

Each of us have a wide variety of influence within and outside of progressive and power metal, but centered on bands such as Symphony X, Adagio, and Evergrey. The list goes on. At the moment we are composed of a drummer, bassist, and keyboardist, all of us being very keen to get something going. At this stage, we do not have a name, but we'll be brainstorming one as soon as we can.

As for a guitarist, we're looking for a player with similar influences and a strong interest in progressive/power metal. At the moment, we're thinking the one guitarist (playing leads and rhythm where appropriate) would be most suited. We're open to the idea of two guitarists if it ends up being entirely neccesary, but would prefer to just have the one guitarist, for a variety of reasons. Hopefully, any prospective guitarist would be fairly technically/musically skilled, capable of playing leads (a little song writing ability wouldn't go astray either), and in possession of decent equipment.

In a vocalist, we seek someone with a good CLEAN voice and range, we're not after a death/black metal vocalist (although the ability to perform death grunts or black metal rasps additionally can't hurt, as there's a small chance we'd feel like incorporating them, in the vain of songs such as "Dominate" by Adagio, or "Direction Perfection" by Dragonland). Ideally, someone with similar influence would be best. While we're open to either a male or female vocalist, we think a male vocalist would probably be most suitable.
