Hey everyone,

As some of you will know NEVERBORN is without a full-time drummer extrordinaire. For the beginning of this year we have been lucky enough to recieve the assistance, guidance, advocacy, counselling of Perth Drumming God Daniel Grainger. This has been an awesome experience for the four of us and we are very very greatful for Dan stepping in and helping us out for a good 8-10 months. Unfortunatley, for us, Dan cannot stay on in his interim position indefinatley so we have the exciting task of locating a new skins man/lady.

Some of you have probably seen us play live before/ talked to us/ have one of our albums but for those haven't, even those who have, here is some information for you:

Neverborn is a (Western Front) award-winng  :raspberry: metal band, our style is hard to define but i would say it is somewhere between progressive/death/black/groove/thrash/core metal and circus music. We always aim to try new things, incorporate new styles whilst taking our music to both heavier and more melodic places with each release we put out. So far we have released 3 full length albums, all of which are available from us. At the moment we are reviewing storyboards for a videoclip we will be producing from the album "Decimator". This will be recorded during the middle of the this year for a late year release and it would be awesome to have a new drummer on board for that. We are also writing a new album as we speak which we are planning to record in the first half of 2012. We will also be planning some interstate and international tours in support of the videoclip and new album in 2011/2012.

This is a great opportunity for a skilled drummer who wishes to play some great music, contribute to the writing and recording of material, be involved in the  promotion and production of various medias (Filmclips, DVD, Merchandise, Album) plus possible interstate and international touring within the next 18 months. We are also pretty good dudes so I can guarentee you'll have some fun too.

What we need: A skilled, professional (and preferably) experienced Drummer willing to commit to NEVERBORN as a full-time member. We wont ask for exclusivity or anything like that so you are free to do whatever other music you want to as long as you are committed fully to NEVERBORN. Although we will not ask you to contribute to the videoclip or any other expenses we have planned in the immediate future, we do all contribute fianancially (In some way or another) when we are recording, if you fit really well with us but dont have a job we wont knock you back or anything but some contribution would be expected down the track.

In terms of skill, double-kick skill and speed are essential, however, we arent a brutal techinal death metal band so you dont have to be the fastest drummer ever. WE incorporate alot of different styles of drumming so versitility would be handy as well as a desire to try new things and contribute some cool stuff when writing. If you only want to play technical death metal and blastbeats, its probably not the right gig for you. Obviously we would like someone who is a fast learner as we have many songs and dont want to take a huge break from gigging. We are patient, however,  so no need to feel pressured to play the songs 100% in a week. Aside from that, just being a good dude or lady is about all we ask.

If you are interested in trying out or want any more information on us feel free to contact myself (Matty) on 0413466469 or email us on neverbornmetal@gmail.com

Hopefully we hear back from some mad dog soon as we are very excited about filling this new position and starting a new chapter of the NEVERBORN chronicles.

Thanks for reading this eassay

most of my good mates from high school are big into drum and bass and dub step type stuff, its not too bad, kinda cool going to a party there and there are always decks set up with almost everyone at the party having a spin. The stuff the listen to is pretty dark like noisia, amon tobin and stuff like that, been to a couple of their gigs and went to a big international dnb gig once, was pretty cool. need to be in a different state but.. some of the dub step is wicked and pretty heavy drum beats.. is not to bad

at the moment i am a Fruit and Veg Assistant/2ic at IGA, serving up tasty treats just the way the locals like it , it pretty much means i have to follow around a tiny 60+ year old italian bloke who tells me off alot. Plus im the manager on Saturdays because the owner plays cricket and the store manager has to have at least one day off. Its pretty sweet but get pretty much the whole week without work except for early mornings, worst thing is no weekend at all... Hopefully by the start of 2012 i will be a Provisionally registered School Psychologist, then i get weekends and school holidays woot!!

« on: June 09, 2010, 07:32:42 PM »
I know some of you have already recieved/completed this survey over facebook but i thought i would post it here for those that haven't.

As a part of my Psychology Honours I have to perform my own research. I am looking into bullying and cyber-bullying and I have created an Anonymous survey of which you are all welcome to take part. I would really appreciate it if you all could have a look and complete the survey, it would mean a lot to me,... no need to tell me if you have completed it or what your answers were but please if you have a question ask me.

Also, it would be really awesome if you could pass this on to all your friends as the more participants the better!! :) Even its just a few, especially if its people I may not know that would be awesome. Thank you so much!

Matty

Here is the Information Letter and Web Link to the Survey:

Dear Participant,
I am a Psychology Honours student at Edith Cowan University, Australia under supervision of Dr. Julie-Ann Pooley. You are invited to participate in a study investigating links between bullying, cyber-bullying and social self-belief. Cyber-bullying has become an increasingly sinister part of a young adult?s life and has recently a lot of media attention. This study is designed to extend previous research into the links between traditional bullying and cyber-bullying and uncover how these experiences relate to how we feel about ourselves. As a participant in this study you will be asked to complete a web-survey in your own time at your home, office or university. The questionnaire will ask you about your experiences of traditional bullying, cyber-bullying and ask you to rate how comfortable you are in certain social situations. The questionnaire is expected to take 5-15 minutes of your time and once completed your participation in the study is ended. The survey is completely voluntary and you may withdraw from the questionnaire anytime you choose and your answers will not be analysed. The questionnaire is also completely anonymous as the only personal information required by the survey is your age and country, not your name. This study has ethics approval from the Faculty of Computing Health and Science ethics Committee. If at any time you have a question or query you can contact myself, mbrenna0@our.ecu.edu.au, my supervisor Dr. Julie-Ann Pooley, j.pooley@ecu.edu.au or the Fourth-Year Co-ordinator Dr. Justine Dandy, j.dandy@ecu.edu.au . Thank you very much for taking the time to consider participation in the study.
Yours Sincerely
Matt Brennan-Jones

Another, albeit short, review, this from a music/horror webzine:

NEVERBORN - DECIMATOR
(10 track CD) WESTERN FRONT
Emerging from the dark depths of Australia comes NEVERBORN. These guys are an extreme Death Metal band, but in no way are your typical Death Metal band. You can tell these guys are into many styles of Metal after one listen. They ground themselves in the Death Metal genre, but pull influences from Black, Doom, Thrash, Hardcore, Industrial, Grindcore & many more. There is rapid fire machine gun blasts, violent chaotic riffing & harsh aggressive vocals. The music is all over the place, kind of like a controlled chaos. This band must be heard! Smash together the best elements of FEAR FACTORY, THE FACELESS, DIMMU BORGIR, CARCASS, PANTERA, MESHUGGAH & SLAYER, to get a rough idea of what these guys are all about. With a comparising like this you that you want to get this disc now & blast it! A must have for Metalheads

You may as well post it Jez, its a fucking sweet review:

From Mystic Metal:

Today we delve into some metal from Western Australia. I have never heard these guys before today and all I know is what I can read in this bio. It seems they have now released three albums; '1000 Miles Of Hell', 'Madness My Friend' and 'Decimator'. It also states their music is filled with vioent riffing, machine gun kicking and blackened vocals. Intrigued? Let us indulge...

Always Watching Me - The introduction to this album infuses a very heavy tone with a slight tinny sound. You know from this it is about to get hectic. Keyboards make an appearance amidst the firing guitars and war ready drums. The vocals present somewhat of a hardcore/death crossover.  Throughout the track is a basic guitar melody, cloaked within a most brutal sound. The lyrics are mostly decipherable. A good, heavy track to start us off.

"They say I'm paranoid, psyche in disrepair, Feeling them all around, follow me everywhere, But I know the awful truth, too deep, too dark to hide, Acid at boiling point is chewing me up inside..."

Decimator - The keyboard brings us into this track with mind warp style effects. The overall structure of this one is almost Mr Bungle like as it creates a warped mental state. It is easy to get into and even poses a reminiscence to Death at times. It has that heavy sound which would be very powerful to hear live. Basically, it has an uplifting atmosphere to its brutality.

"I was built by lunatics, To enforce their will, Created in hate, Engineered to kill, Slicing rusty blades, Cables twist and writhe, Churning across the land, Leaving none alive..."

After The Thunder - The piano begins with a haunting, old horror movie type atmosphere. It is quickly overpowered by the relentless assault rifle ensemble. It is loud, heavy, confusing and spiralling.  The piano seems to represent the spiralling into insanity while the guitars seem to portray the inner madness imploding. It is truly a crazy and most vile musical creation.

"Rattle of machine gun fire just blocks away, Innocent bystanders die getting in the way, On the corner there's a guy who's selling dust of dreams, Tonight his batch is poison, Hear the dying junkies scream..."

Coming After You - Again, the piano creates a horror movie style atmosphere until the true intensity begins. It tends to make it sound like you are watching a horror movie in fast forward. So throughout the track you can visualise the carnage and the bloodshed. You even get what sounds like the typical love/sex scene at about 03:00 which of course ends in brutality. How does it end? Like the killer walks off happily into the sunrise. It is an interesting track indeed.

"Look at the world, what do you see? (Failure) Depraved, deranged insane, profane, It's all your fault, now it's come to this, Forever displayed a world decayed..."

Why? - This song possesses true metal spirit. It is atmospheric in parts where it has a Scandinavian feel. It even plummets into some serious death like persona.  But overall it is infusing many genres of metal into this one track. It is easy to follow and not as messy as it may seem as you read this. It has been constructed very well and it manages to balance a variety of metal genres perfectly.

"A true destructive force of nature, I leave such wreckage in my wake, Leading you to annihilation, Sweet devastation we will make..."

Seven Levels Of Hate - With a title like this one can only expect one thing; sheer brutality. You can truly feel the intensity of the hatred being dispersed here. As when one is fuelled and intoxicated by so much rage, things get confusing, irrational, sporadic and incorporate so many emotions into one massive explosion, that you cannot be coherent.  The structure here represents this incoherence perfectly.  It flows on its crazed emotions. It has a very in your face type feel to it.

"Level 1. A rising tide of distaste, a sickness seeing your face. Level 2. The Smell of your rancid breath, this feeling burning within me. Level 3. A conscious feel of bloodlust, a sickness found in my heart..."

Nothing - This track starts with an essence of melancholy which soon sounds like it is being dealt with by utilising the pain and strengthening it into anger. Perhaps seen as the only way to get yourself out of such a depressive state. And when one is in such a state, you really need to draw on anything you can to get out of it before you are completely consumed. The only problem with this, is your body can adapt to depression becoming anger and every time you feel depressed, your body will start to view that as anger. This track tends to relay that confusion and emptiness which remains from this struggle.

"I've been in pain before, Depressed right to the core, But never felt I'd welcome death, I feel like hammered shit, Tearing my guts to bits, No will to draw another breath..."

I Am The Cure - The intensity of this track is captivating. It is the type of track you can lose yourself in as you release your inner angst. A great moshpit track as most of these are.

"Self inflicted pain, just another cry from society, Another death, another shame, If you run in hell, come run with me..."

Burned To Ash - More crazed atmosphere can be found here. There is even a hint of In Flames behind this track. It is as this whole album has been; very intense, heavy and burden releasing.

"Into every life comes some tragedy, Into every sky comes some rain, So many times I have been tortured, Maybe I'm immune to the pain..."

Everyone Will Pay - The last and longest track on the album at 07:51.  It is also the only track you can truly hear the Australian accent through its spoken verses. It is a great end to the album as it is like its final release; the finale of a crazed killers mission. You sit here listening in wait to find out what their last kill method will be. However, there are of course many kills along this last path of destruction.  But the last one, how does it end? I think this is to be left to the listener's interpretation. You know it was slow and glorious as this was the last. Suicidal perhaps? I think so, as there was no walking away sound like that previous track had. To delve into the mind is a fascinating thing! Great track!

"In the space between the beats of a dragonfly's wings an eternity can pass, A void in time which all that is or will be can be altered..."

In essence, listening to this album is like walking alongside a killer. You can witness his madness without coming to any harm. Yet you feel every part of his emotions curdle up inside. It is a fantastic expression and method of release for any edgy fellow. It is heavy, brutal, powerful and soothing all in one. The musical structures are intense and interesting. I love music I can lose myself in and this has certainly set my mind soaring. The CD cover represents the insanity I spoke of; the minds idea of how they might like to destroy. Inside the sleeve are all the lyrics, thanks and band picture with corresponding names and positions. The CD itself bares a tribal image and track listing. A most impressive CD indeed! So much so, I can only recommend you give them a listen and support this brilliant Aussie band.

General discussion / Housemates Needed
« on: June 12, 2009, 09:41:37 PM »
Hey everyone,

me and my girlfriend are currently living in a 4x2 all by ourselves and we dont need all the room so we were wondering if anyone is interested in renting at our place.

We live in a nice new villa (less than 12 months old) in Balga, its actually really quiet round here and there is space to park your car, you'd have access to your own bathroom and toilet as we have an ensuite.

Cheap rent, close to city, mt lawley, plus theres the sins of the father boys, big macs, malignant people, ides and gallows people close by so many fun times shall be had.

First in gets their choice of the rooms, We have kitchen and living room all set up already, we have pre paid internet but if we get two more housemates we can get wireless at home.

Anyone who isnt too messy and wants cheap rent + share of bills (obviously only after you've moved in) let me know on 0413466469 email me on mbrenna0@student.ecu.edu.au or IM on here

cheers guys and gals
