Been a while, so here are sone recent updates on MO!

Recent Album Reviews - http://www.metalobsession.net/album-reviews
* Dyscord ? Tirades
     A strong album from the Perth quintet despite it?s lack of diversity.
* Beyond Terror Beyond Grace ? Our Ashes Built Mountains
     A great grind album that mixes things up with soundscapes and even post-rock. 7.4/10
* Mercyful Fate ? Don?t Break The Oath
     An album that inspired the black metal scene with its lyrical imagery and thrash roots.
* Disentomb ? Promo 2009
     Brutal death metal that, with enough volume, could turn you inside out.
* Mortemia ? Misere Mortem
     Founding member of Tristania creates an album that hits all elements in the gothic genre. 8/10

Unfortunetly for this event there is no involvement for you guys out west, however you could always help us out by submitting gig dates, news etc from the WA scene... it's a little hard for us to post news when no-one sends stuff in! :D

Dedicated to bringing the Aussie metal public all the latest news from the local scene, MetalObsession.net now needs your help to stay alive and strong! And what better way to do it than out on a gig for you! Saturday March 6th is the date, and the venue, Melbourne?s Corner Hotel.

On the back of their 2009 album Set in Stone, Sydney?s LORD brings their catchy, energetic live show back to Melbourne to headline the night. Local support comes in the form of melodic thrashers Dreadnaught, groove metallers Frankenbok, quirky prog rockers Toehider, and straight-up thrashers Septerrus. Do the Aussie metal scene a favour, and come over for a night of stellar local talent.

International / 'Best of 2009' Results on MetalObsession.net
« on: January 18, 2010, 05:46:44 PM »

With voting now closed in Metal Obsession?s ?Best of 2009′ readers poll, it is time to announce those albums which made an imprint on the Australian heavy metal public. With a massive increase of votes in this year?s edition spread over 69 Australian releases and 98 International?s, the list?s that you will see below cover a fairly broad cross-section of the scenes both internationally and here in Australia.

http://www.metalobsession.net/best-of-2009

Cheers for a good number of Perth metalheads for submitting votes. A couple of Perth bands deservedly made it to the top 10, and bands like Cuntscrape, Eleventh He Reaches London and Claim the Throne weren't too far off either!

Thanks to Welkin Entertainment, MO is offering 25 readers a copy of the recent Aus Metal Compilation ?The Euphony Fusion III?, simply for submitting your votes!

With the end of 2009 come and gone, we are asking what was your favourite Australian and International album of 2009?  After two clear standouts in Psycroptic and Opeth in last years edition, 2009 promises to be a much tighter race in both categories.

Note: Readers who have already submitted their list?s will automatically recieve an entry into the competition!

As far as i know, the correct Perth gig details are as follows...

8th Jan 2010
Destroyer 666 @ Civic Hotel Backroom, Perth
w/ Mhorgl and Malignant Monster
Tickets available from Moshtix and Just Say Rock.

I can't really find any info on whether Malevolent Creation are hitting up Perth, at a guess i'd say no...?
