Musician Connection / Guitarist here, drummer or band there????
« on: December 29, 2009, 06:55:10 PM »
Hey,

I'm a guitarist looking to form or join an original heavy band. I'm particularly keen to hook up with a drummer to form the basis of a new band.

My influences are pretty wide and include old school, progressive and many very non-metal bands.

Despite the potential hateful response from non-Dave fans, I love Mustaine's playing and Megadeth/Slayer recently was fu*ckin awesome. M.Morton, Adam Jones, M Friedman and F Thorendal also rule.

I've spent the last few years writing predominantly prog metal with some quality muso's here. Gear & transport sorted. Have been playing for 15 years. I'm constantly learning about this instrument and so I am not really keen on the idea of sticking to the standard cliches. It's gotta grooves hard like Meshuggah, Pantera, Tool, Strapping, Buddy Guy and Johnny Cash (yes, that's right!) and Cannibal Corpse.

Probably looking more for dudes anywhere between 20 and 35 yrs old.

I am NOR also.

I posted a similar thread a while back; got a few hits and met up with a few different people but not quite right fit.

Please PM or email me at matsonj7@hotmail.com

Hey,
I am more of a rhythm guitarist  (with some lead) with many similar influences. Are you still looking for guys to play with? That goes for both Vanha and Riff Raff.
If you are, email matsonj7@hotmail.com

Cheers dudes.

Musician Connection / Capable Heavy Guitarist Available - no cliches

G'day all,

I'm a guitarist looking to join one of many possible types of original heavy bands. Sorry this is a long post but I want to be clear and open about what I am looking for.
My influences are pretty wide and include:

1. Progressive mayhem and brutal metal: Meshuggah, Mastodon, Tool, Strapping Young Lad, Dillinger Esc Plan, Cynic,Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Suffocation, Black Dahlia, Job for a Cowboy, Hate Eternal, Emperor, Mudvayne,
2. grooving, rock, old school and thrash style metal: Lamb of God, Megadeth, Slayer, Metallica, Pantera, Devildriver, Maiden, Black Label Society, Motley Crue, Rage Against the Machine, Slipknot, Sepultura,
3. Non-metal stuff: Johnny Cash, Tori Amos, Wes Montgomery, Mogwai, Miles Davis, Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa, Rachmaninov, Chopin, Spinal Tap.

Of the above, the high rotation plays on my ipod are Megadeth, Meshuggah, Meshuggah, Lamb of God, Tool, Strapping and Johnny Cash. I am a massive Mustaine, Hetfield, M.Morton, Friedman and Thorendal fan.

I've spent the last few years writing predominantly prog metal with some quality muso's here. I am not interested in a fluff-around jam band. I am absolutely dedicated (gear & transport sorted) and have been playing for 15 years. Whatever I am playing, I hate cliched music, art and lyrics. I'm constantly learning about this instrument and so I am not really keen on the idea of sticking to the standard minor (aeolian) and harmonic minor metal vibe. I am also particularly keen to work on something that grooves hard like Meshuggah, Pantera, Strapping and Cannibal Corpse. As I mentioned above, I don't mind whether it's brutal death metal or pumped up rock/metal on steroids, as long as it cranks.

At the end of the day, it's also got to be fun as well. So whilst I want to do this seriously, it's got to be something we enjoy doing. On that note, probably looking more for guys anywhere between 20 and 35 yrs old.

Please give me a PM or email me at matsonj7@hotmail.com

Looking forward to hearing from you dudes.

Cheers,
James
