General discussion / How can one accept this truth?

When I was studying throughout the Hinduism & got to read some unacceptable truth, like Hindus belongs to civilization that the cow used to be sacrificed for religious purposes or slaughtered & the sacrifices that used to be performed by Brahmins.
Does anybody tell me what is the truth? & Can't all of those things are false?
