Good gigs at amps tend to do quite well thanks to the kids trying to beat the post-midnight line to enter the place. They'll pay $10 or whatever to beat that line. Thought, I think Amps now cuts off the 'payers' count at 11:30pm (am I wrong?).

haha those shoes DO make it to every nexus show.
them boots were made for proggin'  :headbang:

Good gig. Thanks for having us. The onstage sound was great!

those fucks, how utterly dissapointing

About the album being leaked. I only see that as a good thing for you as a band. The chances of someone from Peru, France or Korea actually buying a Perth metal band's album is fairly slim, but if it is available somewhere for free... then someone from some random country *could* stumble across it. If they like it, they'll share it with their friends. To me, that is better than $10 or $20 in the band kitty. Embrace FREE global exposure of YOUR music via free distribution.

Id love to see more band doing covers, faithful and experimental.
Sins is even thinking of doing a night with bands performing covers of MTV Unplugged songs

That sounds good. Even a night of metal bands playing any non-metal songs (not just mtv unplugged)... in a metal way. If Nexus plays it... we bagsy Toto - Africa  :headbang:

Crap, just realised this falls on the same date that i agreed to help a mate out by playing bass in his blues rock band's first gig. :'(  it's at the civic, so I can probably make it later in the night. Looking forward to it!

Thanks again Jez for the review. It was radical.

Josh on the bass holds the beast by the scruff of the neck, alternatively keeping the songs together solidly and lashing out in his own creative flurries, ever the forgotten and humble master of his craft
So much truth in that sentence.

...over ten years of working together without cessation, hiatus or retooling and it has bound them together with a singular direction and vision, and honed their skills and accumulative abilities into a single powerful entity.
The true Nexus formed in 2002 i think. So... almost a decade.

Since Pet Sounds isn't a metal album.... 8)
Justice For All is a big one for me too. Same story as well. I stole the cassette from my brother when I was 12 or 13. I also distinctly remember getting up at 6am when I was 8 to watch the Nothing Else Matters clip on Rage (obviously not a metal song... but Metallica were the stepping stone into metal for me). Besides Justice, other all time favourites include Killing is my Business, Rust In Peace and maybe even Jester Race.

Western Australia / The Castle (renovations)
« on: April 23, 2010, 04:30:52 PM »
I walk past The Castle everyday on my way to work. There are some major renovations going on there. The floor has been ripped up, the roof is being restored beam by beam. Does anyone know exactly how extensive the renovations are and what the final outcome will be? Are they completely redesigning it or just fixing the rusting bolts and rotting asbestos?

I've heard Crab Wars mentioned a few times in recent months. They seem to be remembered so fondly in the metal scene!
