WA Gigs / Re: METALCRUISE - SAT SEPT 5 - CLAIM THE THRONE CD LAUNCH
« on: May 12, 2009, 04:41:39 PM »
Die Scoundrels played on one a Swan River cruise years ago.... some drunk dude fully ran down the boat and lept of the back!!!
We watched him swim to shore in the dark, freezing water. Crazy bastard!  :D
Not a great idea though - apparently if they catch you (how?) they try to fine you $150 for dangerous behavior or some shit.

Music/metal cruises are the best.... except playing your instruments while drunk, and swaying with the boat is kinda a weird feeling!

Split cassette?
Maybe they'll have a live performance on vhs
A lot of these bands revel in the glory days of the HC / undergound / tape-trading scene.... thus, it is now kinda cool and "retro" to release a demo tape with a black and white photocopied cover...... like it's 1984 again.

I guess if the music is right and the spirit is there, then why not?
I fucking love Suffer. I would buy their tape. My tape deck is unplugged though :(

Discbank (in Subiaco)  :hmm:

I know people here have had shit loads of problems with them, but we got the last two Cuntscrape CDs done with no hassles.
If you give them correctly set up artwork and a error-free master, then really, there shouldn't be a problem.
I mean, price-wise, they are pretty competitive, so maybe check them out.

This album is an all time favourite o mine

I had one of their other albums on CD (the one with the guy getting hit by a train)... they are pretty good aye!!
I don't know where my CD went... I don't often lose CDs, but I'm damned if I know what happened to that one  :(

235
I love your influences.... I'm in as a loyal fan if the band is actually good once it forms!  :)

Was listening to Dropdead at work today actually... fuckin' love them!

Yeh they are good, theres a couple more new thrash bands i have, cant remeber them all, 1 of them is dekapitator
They are only good because it's Matt and Col from Exhumed.
I'm extremely turned off by new thrash.... Most of the bands aren't really writing any really classic riffs.

It kinda reminds me of The Quill but much more "bone-head American" sounding. I wouldn't buy a CD of these guys.

Good Lord (Labia).  :o

240
Correct.... During office hours, Lord Labia actually refers to his penis by the pet name "Qwerty"!

Some of it is intentionally misspelled. We like to keep a mystique that that we were possibly all home-schooled in a trailer and spent 20% learning time on English and 90% of time on misinformed sexual education under the guidance of Uncle Nasty Fingers.
(and 5% time on mathematics, apparently).....  ;)

In addition to buying the split CD tomorrow (), the ever-giving Mighty Scrape is offering a special printable lyric sheet for you to download, print, trim, and insert in to your CD cover. Do you have to have an album for this as in quality recordings or just any audio? What are the prerequsites?
Surely you cant just send in a tape of your jam that you had the other day :-\
Apra don't want copies of your actual songs. You just register your works with them.
Of course, you can't get paid royalties for every time you play a registered song at band rehearsal, but any time the song is performed at a public space or a recorded version of the song is played on radio (which I suppose is gonna be a quality recording), then you will get paid :)

APRA receive mandatory reports from every radio station on what Australian music has been played, so you are sure to receive your entitlement there, but let's say the HeadBangers salon was snipping away to Grotesque; sadly, I think it would still be The Veronicas who get the small amount of money from that. Music played in public places (shops etc) isn't documented.

If you submit an annual report of every live performance of each song you've registered with APRA, and you also have songs played on the radio, then you can get a little bit of money...
Maxi P has gotten very lazy with it (as in I have gotten lazy  :P), but a few years ago we each received a cheque for around $70 (per band member). Not too bad.... it's a bit of extra beer money or whatever.   :)
