Why put a band on as support like Voyager?!?!? There are many better and more suited bands in Perth, let alone Australia. The supports are always the most ridiculous efforts ive ever seen.

??? THERE IS NO BETTER BAND IN AUSTRALIA THAN VOYAGER PAL!  :ranting:

Seems AJ is blaming this on the "co-headliner" pulling out.

One band pulling out & he cancels it - crap!
There were, what 50+ others???

With bells on!!

That's what happens I guess when you book a festival at grand final time.
All the interstater's that go to more than one SW are taken out of the loop cause of the cost of hotel's and flights etc (me included).

Bummer I won't get to DLR & Sisters of mercy but it's still not "officially" cancelled so there's a little ray of hope......

No-one said they were doom??

Russian Circles have been making their mark on the international underground since 2004, playing instrumental, sprawling music which runs the gamut of heavy discordant metal to soft delicate passages.

Sums them up quite well I thought.

biggest challenge is making sure no other person puts on a metal gig that night

I'd say you'd be pretty safe on a Thursday night  :)

 :o Holy shit!!

46
Yep not metal but impressed the tits off me at the Voyager show the other week!!

47
Fully concur!!! Starting off a night with a set of Iron Maiden covers (and not your bog standard covers either!)
was great and it was on from there.

First time seeing Cold Fate and Silent Knight; enjoyed both.

Dan was an excellent fill in for Damo in Evolution Machine.
Brookes eye lashes were dangerous

It has been confirmed that Wurzel died of ventricular fibrillation, caused by cardiomyopathy.

Not the best way to start a Sunday  :(

This was posted on blabbermouth earlier......

According to a posting on the Facebook page of Tim Butcher, MOTORHEAD leader Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister's longtime bass tech and "right-hand man," former MOTORHEAD guitarist Michael "Wurzel" Burston died earlier today (Saturday, July 9). He was 61 years old.

Before joining MOTORHEAD in 1984, Burston had been a corporal in the Army, serving in Germany and Ireland with the 1st Battalion of the Gloucestershire Regiment, and had played in the bands BASTARD and WARFARE. Joining another relatively unknown guitarist, Phil Campbell, they played together at a MOTORHEAD audition, and both were taken on.

Burston acquired the nickname Wurzel while in the Army, being compared to the character Worzel Gummidge due to his scarecrow-style hair and bumpkin-like manner. Lemmy reportedly demanded that W?rzel add an umlaut to the "U" in his name, for "heavy metal effect."
