General discussion / Re: softmod Nintendo Wii
« on: June 18, 2010, 01:59:40 AM »
I modded my wii with the drive key, a solderless pass through chip that goes on the ribbon cable from the unit to the drive, took 1 day to get it express from this site, and about <30 mins to install and works a charm.

CHIP,   http://mods-hq.com.au/drive-key-wii-mod-p-190.html   specs are on the page.

TOOLS,  you need a small phillips head and a tri wing to open it up, i managed to get it open with a small flathead.                                              http://mods-hq.com.au/wii-screwdriver-kit-%C2%96-triwing-philips-p-302.html

INSTALLATION
OPEN CASING,   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gza0eaL6DAQ
CHIP INSTALLATION,   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boMA2gCzR0M

GAMES,    http://thepiratebay.org/top/405   or any other torrent site, Burned with ImgBurn on Verbatim DVD+R

you do need the lg drive to read/rip the games also either on of these
 LG-8164b
 LG-8163b
 LG-8162b
 LG-8161b
apparently there are a few other ones that work like certain pioneer drives and HP drives.

Not sure if soft modding was a better option but thats what i did,  theres heaps of other killer chips on the mods-hq site that do different things.
This voids the the warranty but who cares, fuck paying $100 a game when you dont have to pay fuck all!!

this is from the ato site...

http://ato.gov.au/corporate/content.asp?doc=/content/00178930.htm&page=1&H1

How much is the payment and when will I receive it?

Your tax bonus payment will be:

    * $900 if your taxable income is up to and including $80,000
    * $600 if your taxable income is between $80,001 and $90,000, and
    * $250 if your taxable income is between $90,001 and $100,000.

Your payment will not be used to offset any of your other tax debts.

Payments will start from 6 April 2009. People who have already had their tax returns assessed will be the first to receive their payment. The fastest way to receive payment is directly into your bank account.

The later you lodge your 2007-08 tax return, the longer it will take for you to get your payment. You can lodge your return online using e-tax, by mail using TaxPack or through your agent

It fits quite snug in a corner, but yeah it is largeish but it is quite simple to move, because it breaks down to six parts, not that it gets moved that often anyways.

Got most of my parts from these sites, but also a few on ebay...

http://www.ozstick.com.au/
www.arcadegamingaustralia.com.au

and to whoever was looking for coin slots, there are 3 different types of coin mechs on the ozstick site, ranging from $55 down
plus they sell the ipac 2 and 4 keyboard encoders, which i recommend using the i pac 4 if your making a 4 player machine, the program to set it up is also alot eaiser and more user friendly than the keywiz one..

Turns out your machines fail epicly...

Mine somewhat looks like something from space...a darlic maybe...
I built it from scratch, cost me about $500 in parts (i already had the pc), built it over 2 months, a couple of hours each day after work..

Run on the MAME emulator which has over 8000+ of all your general old\new school arcade games, + every
atari, sega master system, sega megadrive, nintendo, snes, ninteno64, ps1, commodore 64, man soooo many fucking games its not funny.. also has pinball, a jukebox, the net....ect ect ect, just hadnt had enough time to go through everything

4 Player Duel Screen
IPAC 4 Keyboard Encoder
Twin Trackballs (which can be used instead of a mouse But also has wireless keyboard and mouse)
The Brain Amd Athalon XP 3000+, 1 gig ram, 2.16ghz cpu, 256 nvidia gpu,
External power button, 3 way (pause, enter, esc) button
Logitech 5:1 Surround

And Best of all BEER HOLDERS!!

Look at the pics anyways, you cant see it but it also has a 12v strobe lighting system, that flashes behiind the grills, and from under the button panels, and drinkholders. all players have a joystick 6 buttons plus a start and a coin, the two green buttons on the left hand side, are the buttons that interact with the trackball, pretty much your mouse buttons, and the three way one is for your pause, enter and esc.

Only downside is the smallish screens, but when your that close to it it doesnt even matter really.
looking at selling it if anyones interested??? Make an offer!!
