Maybe you guys should start a "Metal Discussion" section, these state sections really are almost useless for promoting your shit.
Except for the W.A one, cos, many of your users are from there, obviously

Tasmania / Mephistopheles (TAS) - yeah, we finally caved and got a FB
« on: March 02, 2012, 04:50:16 AM »
Hello my Western Australian (and possibly anywhere else in the world cos it's the fucking internet  ;)) friends!!
Mephistopheles finally caved and started a Facebook page
We have our two semi-recently recorded songs online, in full for the first time.
Have a listen, "Like" it if you, um, like it ;)

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mephistopheles/346334178712498?sk=app_178091127385

I will also use this thread for Mepho updates, so keep an eye out.

So yeah, we're really trying hard to push into new territory with our current direction, so, even you folk who find metal usually a hard pill to swallow may find what we're doing a little less abrasive. Or, you might find it 1 Million times worse, and abhor it more than anything you thought possible.

Any feedback here would be genuinely appreciated.
Kthnx
Chalky

International / Re: MORBID ANGEL Album Title
« on: July 12, 2011, 12:31:19 AM »
The album is the worst thing they've done, by a fair amount. Reminds me of Marilyn Manson in some bits (so it may appeal to some people on this site obviously  ;)), and the few "good" songs are only just average M.A fare.
It's great to hear D.V's voice back in the band...but it's his influence which has doomed this release it seems.

B.G were amazing last time, and i went to see them the night after seeing Suffocation live, so whether they were good or not was of little concern haha...but they ended up being so damn sick, was crazy. Still in the top five best live bands i've seen, easy.

International / Re: Physical format CD's anyone still buy them?
« on: June 22, 2010, 04:45:51 AM »
I still buy many cds.
I never download underground DM, BM, etc albums still in print
I like having it physically, the sound is better, and the artist and underground labels are supported. Illegal d/ling is killing stuff, a lot.

I don't have a problem with evolving beyond cds, but whilst it is still a decent way (imo, the best - although vinyl has a certain magic) of listening to and supporting metal, i will keep on keeping on.
Fuck ripping off bands who spend hours and weeks and months writing, practising and recording, many of whom invest their own money into their recordings and releases.
Metal has always been about supporting the underground, and i think this is still a relevant and vital angle, based on where we are currently at.

Western Australia / Re: Does W.A. have any power metal?
« on: January 21, 2010, 06:21:46 AM »
Can only really think of Lacrymae, Trident Winter and Black Steel... and none of them really play anything like European Power Metal.

I assume the thread starter is after current bands? There isn't many, but in addition to the 3 mentioned above there's a few more i know of:

Well, apparantly Rawkus is on the go again. I don't how popular they were over there, but for a time they had a bit of a buzz happening in the Aus metal scene. They have elements of power metal, for sure, old school style heavy metal/power style stuff though
http://www.myspace.com/rawkus_oz

And a couple of more sort of amatuer bands, although the Raven's Head chick has a pretty decent voice
Mysteria http://www.myspace.com/mysteriaonline
Raven's Head http://www.myspace.com/ravenshead1

But yeah, none of these bands play the proggy Euro style stuff really, but they exist at least haha
