General discussion / What do you want to see at a gig?
« on: December 02, 2011, 10:09:03 PM »
What would make a gig special for you? Does the line-up make a big difference, or is the venue more important? Would a raffle entice you, or a free sausage sizzle perhaps? A stand-up comedian or fire breathing?

What makes you pick one gig over another?

« on: July 27, 2011, 07:19:43 AM »
Hey guys, I'm posting on behalf of Scott, who you may have known as the bass player of Spithre, Scourged Flesh and Burial Grounds. He has since joined the army and moved to Townsville.

He's met up a with a couple of other metal musicians up there, put this together, and was after some feedback.

Western Australia / Your favourite Perth metal song?
« on: June 20, 2011, 11:35:05 PM »
Instead of top 5/10 lists or anything, lets keep this simple. What is your #1 favourite Perth metal song, of all time? If you could only pick one song to tell the world what makes Perth great, only one song that sums up the whole scene, only one song that you can listen to over and over again, what would that one song be?

International / Chicago is Burning - New album competition
« on: April 26, 2011, 08:01:55 AM »
Iron Guardian Industries are proud to announce the impending release of Chicago is Burning's debut album, American Outlaw. Tentatively described as chaotic industrial metalcore, and drawing from several different influences, Chicago is Burning appeals to a wide audience. Combining aggression and chaotic intensity with melody and heartfelt lyrics, American Outlaw deals with topics ranging from the classics of betrayal and hope to the criminally discussed subject of animal cruelty. This highly anticipated and long awaited release is a pleasure both aurally and visually, mastered at Marcussen Mastering (Alice in Chains, Korn) and booklet design by Paula "Hatefueled" Stirland.

To coincide with the release, Chicago is Burning and Iron Guardian Industries are holding a photo competition. The idea is simple, all you need to do is take a photo relating to either "Chicago is Burning" or "American Outlaw" and we have 10 copies of the album to award the 10 best entries. You will find the full rules on the CiB Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Chicago-Is-Burning-Official/137970726226976?sk=app_95936962634

Western Australia / Opertation Western Storm II - Suggestions
« on: December 20, 2010, 11:22:11 PM »
G'day folks,

There have been a number of calls to put together another WA metal compilation, and a number of suggestions on what can be done to improve the next one. Spell check being quite a popular suggestion. As the compilation showcases the local scene, I thought I'd ask the local scene what they would like to see on the next one. Not just which bands, but anything at all. Larger/smaller booklet, different layout, track order, anything.

One suggestion was to cut it down to just on CD, only picking the absolutle best tracks, instead of whoever put their hand up. The idea has merit, as one of the most common complains was the mixed quality of the album. However, attempting to represent the ever growing local scene in just one CD would be too difficult. I'm thinking of sticking with 2CDs, but instead of a heavier and a lighter CD, having a "Veterans" and "New Recuits" CD, keeping with the military theme. The Veterans CD would be 10 tracks from the scene's 'best' bands, the veterans of the scene, who's quality is unquestionable. The New Recuits would be the up and coming bands, the new kids on the block.  Picking which bands go into each of those categories might prove a little tricky though, without bruising any egos ;)

What do you think of that idea?

Suggest away. This is the early planning stages, and if we take aboard any of your specific suggestions, you might end up with a free copy of the album later down the track.

The Frontline / Wikileaks - Journalistic Hero or International Terrorist?
« on: December 05, 2010, 08:27:37 PM »
Thought I might try to start a little topical argument here. For those who have been living under a rock the past week, WikiLeaks has released thousands of US diplomatic cables which essentially display how America views the rest of the world, as well as a few other itneresting little 'secrets'. For a very brief summary on some of those things take a quick look at this. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-11914040

The main problem for the US is simply how embarassing some of the leaked information is, and understandably they've gone into knee-jerk damage control, talking about charging WikiLeaks founded, Australian Julian Assange with epionage, which if tried and convicted, would lead to his execution. Some are even calling for his assasination, and the labeling of WikiLeaks as a terrorist organisation. Julia Gillard has come out and denounced the leaks, and has thrown her theoretical support behind any legal procedings taken against Assange.

So far the leaked information has only been revealed to be embarassing and damaging, but has not been proven to have placed anyone in any increased risk. So why all the fuss? What makes WikiLeaks and different from any other jouralist who risks theirs life to uncover and expose corruption around the world? Is it simply because the US's pristine image has been blemished? Would the West be so up in arms if the leaked secrets had been Iranian or North Koreans, instead of American?

Thoughts? Does anyone care?

Western Australia / Perth's rock bands
« on: September 18, 2010, 01:49:09 AM »
Who would you say are Perth's best rock bands? Best in terms of great music and capacity to regularly pull a crowd. I don't know too many of the bans in the rock scene, apart from Emerald City, Caverfire Cinema, Caballeros and such.

The NEW poke-rap. Stubled across this today, thought some of you might find it amusing.

So I got this girl in the sex nid-arena
Getting ready to put my Poke-flue in between her.
First I take it slow bro, you know, play it Tentacool
When I Poliwag my Weedle oh how it makes her drool
I?m hard as a rock, and this girl seems hooked on onix
Cause she puts her Meowth on my Pidgey and takes it like a bong hit
Then she?s starting to Machoke, which isn?t very cool
I don?t want to risk the Chance, see, of being Tentacruel
With the greatest swiftness, I slide off her Kabutop
And make her great paras come unleashed and drop
She?s seaking to be drilled, while I?m hoping she?s infertile
Playing with those jigglypuffs, trying veno-not to Squirtle
I Exegcute that foreplay, and now I?m ready to Cubone
Trying to finish quickly before her Mr. Mime gets home
But she stops before I can start the Manky Panky
And Says ?Since I had to Staryu, you have to Starmie?
So since she did me, I guess I have to Ditto
I get down on my knees and pone-eat a Pidgetto
Give her a Slowpoke before I dive into that girl
And attack her cloyster with a full polywhirl
I Lickitung her Lapras, tasting on that Magicarp-et
Hoping she?s not Krabby, that?d be gastly and would make my heart sick
Yes that Persian rug was clef-hairy, but I didn?t really mind
Since I could ring the Victory bell, I was getting some behind
Down there for so long, I came up Koffing and Wheezing
I got her seel of approval though, cause she?s Growlith-ing and breathing
Wanting to gravel her, feeling so sand-shrewd
Give her an electabuzz with my spear-oh too
I?d tell you her name, but don?t think she?s a whore, see?
Not to many get her rapidash, tonight she?s just rhyhorn-y,
So I start Rhydon like the Machamp, feel like I could roar
Going so hard that I probably made her ivy sore
She wanted my Arbok so I gave her gear a dose
Going so hard that her Mew almost tauros
Inside that butterfree, feeling like a charmelon bucks
Constantly Jolteon her from the power of my Psyduck
Now I must have gone and jinxed it, somewhere in the equation
Cause she started getting drowzee during the copulation
I didn?t even notice, I kept going at her Golbat
But then something seemed Oddish when I she started to snorelax
I tried to wake her up, zu-but she was pory-gone
And she?d have to be awake before I?d get my flare on.
Of course I felt gloom, I thought I had been charming? her
And now I can?t Grime her voltorb or I?ll be harming her
My Dewgong can?t Muk, and if he does it?d be rude
But this is still better then the time I brought home a Geodude
With my pants down and my bell sprouted, I feel I got to doduo
So I Maro-walked into the bathroom, and when I leave, what do I view?
That my girl?s awake again-gar, which seems kind of farfetched
And provoked some Poliwrath at the thought that she fake-slept
I asked her what was wrong, does she not like it when I pinsir?
And she responded with, ?Calm down a second, Spencer.
If you think your sex is good, your wrong, if you think your hip, no,
The only thing you?re good at is Nintendo.?
I love this girl a magneton, and hearing that was wiggly tough.
The eevee-ning had started well, but now was turning rough
Told her ?Wait a parasect, please stay the omanyte,
You?re my goldeen girl, and if you leave I magne-might
E-raticate my life, cause you are my pharaoh!
It?s to early in the night to give me the kabuto!?
And she says, ?Way back when, when I first took a peek at you.
I thought you were kind of cute and that you?d want my mew too.
I felt electrodes in the air when I saw you and you saw me
But that was before I knew your Diglett was so Dragtini!?
I didn?t know the size of my Dodrio mattered, and my god,
Here I thought we were like two Caterpies in a Metapod
I hope the memories of me haunt her, I hope she never leaves her shellder
?I hope you see dra light soon,? I go and I tell her.
?I know you think your hot shit, but I?m actually exegg-cuter.
I?m the omastar, the Kingler, I can find another suitor.
I?m sorry about the time I gave you Wartortles and blisters
Or when I suggested a dugtrio with your sister.
But if you still want go, I won?t beg like our canine.
Golduck with your life, I?m having a Blastoise with mine.?
And that night, Misty left me, I felt so vileplume
I reckons that dragon night was the beginning of the doom
But I guess men are from Magmars women from Venusaur
And every thing tangelable, there?s a reason for
I learned this the next week, when bad news filled the dragonair
My heart got machopped in half like a scyther giving it a tear
A phone call from her mother told me a kakuna in her head
Had attached to her vulpix, and now Misty was dead.
I thought it was a cle-fable that those things were hitmon-lethal
I had heard eight or ninetales about gol-them from different people
But I still couldn?t believe it, I started weepin, belting out tears
Cuts and slashes vaporeonizing all of our years
It was like Riach-uno, Zap-dos, Mol-tres, and she?s gone
And I can?t abra kadabra with some magic wand
No alacazam and she reappears, I feel like a primeape
They could have caught the growth but the Kangascans came back to late
I pidgey-ought to have known better, but the news was quite charz-hard
My heart felt bulba-sore, was permanently scarred
She was my Nidoqueen, I should not have nido-ran
I wanted to be her Nidoking, but I felt more like a hitman-chan
If I hadn?t nidoran, would she still be with us?
Or is my poke-love just to damn venomoth?
Insides numb like the artic, you know that feeling
A gun ratatta-ed my heart and I?m just waiting for the healing
But I don?t regret getting hit with cupid?s arrow-dact-all
Relationships are like pokemon, you gotta catch em? all.

WA Gigs / Paramore
« on: June 30, 2010, 11:25:04 PM »
In light of recent seriousness, some frivolity.

So, according to the Ticketmaster newsletter Paramore are playing in Perth on the 10th of October. I wont be going (surprise surprise), but I wonder if their vocalist would object to signing copies of her topless photo floating around the internet.

I don't know the full story behind how it was leaked, intentional or not, and I don't know much about the band, but I would be interested to know how it's affected their ticket/ablum sales.

CD Trade & Merchandise / IGI webstore down due to hacking
« on: May 27, 2010, 03:14:36 AM »
The IGI webstore has been taken offline, while we fix a few problems. It would appear that the site has been hacked into, and may be putting our visitors at risk of infection.  If you've visited the site in the last month, we recommend you run a virus scan on your computer. We've had no reports of anyone being infected so far, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

We may take this as an opportunity to completely redesign the webstore, instead of simply finding and fixing the loopholes and problems. I'll keep you informed. If you want a copy of anything we had in stock, feel free to send me a message and we'll sort something out.
