Sound Advice / Re: pro tools high gain noise
« on: May 16, 2009, 05:15:07 AM »
I think I know what you mean with the eq thing. If you duplicate the track and eq out everything except the high noise you could reverse the phase of that track then the noise should disappear. Though from your post I'm not exactly sure what the source of the noise is and thus not sure if this would be the best option. If you could eliminate the noise during the recording process it's always going to be  the better way to do it.

Thanks a lot man, the program that I got from the ATO site covers all that information in the template seems simple enough just wasn't sure if I was missing anything I needed. Also might as well say while I'm here, if anyone is looking for an audio tech pm me, discount if you mention WF.

While we're on the subject, how can I properly invoice someone as a sole trader? Are there rules? (I'm an audio tech)

Edit: Never mind, downloaded e-record from the ATO site.

Sound Advice / Re: Soundcraft Compact 4
« on: May 13, 2009, 06:41:28 AM »
As far as I have seen it's got good reviews just wondering if anyone on here knows someone, or are themselves someone, who's had experience with one of these.

I'm using it mainly so I have more control over my recording sessions, I currently use an mbox but in order to have instrument tracks and talk back mic/multiple headphones going at the same time it's a pain in the ass and messy as fuck. This seemed to me like the best mixer in the price range that suited my needs.

Looking at getting a Compact 4 mixer:

Any reason why it's a bad idea?

Do they sell these anywhere in Perth?

Sound Advice / ProTools 8.0 Boom.
« on: March 28, 2009, 02:24:14 AM »
Hey, I have recently installed protools 8.0 and it has been working fine so far. I've since gotten the boom pluggin which wasn't installed before but I'm having trouble getting protools to recognize it. I've tried reinstalling protools with the plugging in the install folder and also putting it in the pro-tools pluggin folder in program files. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well on one hand I think Reputation can give false impressions... but on the other hand it's all just a bit of harmless fun.
