Alone: back just before the site got hacked things were starting to slow down here, and people started to gravitate to facebook, so I thought I'd see how it goes without the forums. The results were fairly conclusive - the scene died in the arse, even though there you could argue that there are more people into metal.
The thing that set WF apart from other forums was that it was more of a community vibe, and most people knew each other. If there was any attempts at trolling, generally everyone would band together and tear them a new one, and the moderators would step in if need be.

A lot of metal heads have become sick of facebook and it's proliferation of nonsense and time wasting. It has a lot of other cons too - you can only interact with and find out about things from the circle of people you have "friended", there are no proper discussions as within a day or two they just disappear, and unless you are willing to pay facebook you only reach 5-10% of your audience.

At the end of the day it all comes down to the quality of people involved and we had it before, and we can build it up again, to be a force to be reckoned with. Anyone that is into metal and none of the bullshit is welcome here with open arms.

Shows up as a dead link to me. I thought maybe it was hotlink protection and you were just seeing the cached version, but I can't get it to load at all.

International / Re: Hellfest 2014 Any other Aussies going?
« on: February 27, 2014, 07:36:32 AM »
Sorry mate, I haven't officially re-opened the forums and announced it yet. Just trying to iron out some bugs and needed it up so the other software company could help trouble shoot it, so it will be a bit quiet for the time being. Hoping to have it up and going soon though, just waiting on them!

For anyone that's missed it (an acceptable form of spam  8)):

Ok, so here's the thing - the upcoming Western Front Compilation CD is a not-for-profit promo album showcasing a heap of WA metal talent and a few eastern states bands as well. Thousands of them will be handed out at the Perth Soundwave show, and as such will be massive exposure for the bands on it, and the local metal scene in general.

Wade has gone to a lot of effort to collaborate with the bands, sort out the cd and organise the fundraising shows and the launch for it. He doesn't deserve to be out of pocket for his galant efforts so get your arse down to the Civic hotel this Friday and support the cause, especially the people too weak to make it to the first fundraiser.

If this goes without problems, the idea was for next year to make it an even bigger thing, and to have them circulated at every Soundwave around the country. So if you are in a metal band, even if you're not on the disc this time, support the scene and maybe it will be your music getting stuffed into the hand of thousands around the country.
If you like any of said bands, or Australian metal in general, then you too should join the cause. All you have to do is attend a gig, you'll get to see a bunch of great bands for your troubles.

WA Gigs / Neverborn Undead Video Launch - 21st Jan, Amplifier Bar
« on: January 02, 2012, 09:23:39 PM »

Neverborn will launch their brand new professional video clip featuring legions of the undead on the 21st of January at the Amplifier Bar, Perth.

When hell is full these bands will walk the stage with them in support:
Enforce
Psychonaut
Cold Fate

Come on down and see a great collection of metal acts and be the first to witness the debut screening of the new music video.
(I've only seen an early edit and it was already one of the best Australian music videos I've seen in a long time)
