Couldnt get into POS, not being familiar with their stuff didnt help, nor did the crappy mix which eventually cleared up after the 3rd song (which was good). I dunno, Ive heard good things about their 'Be' album, but for the sound they made it might as well have been Karnivool up there. Having a six string bass and a keyboard doesnt make you an awesome prog/technical band  :raspberry:

Il check out 'Be' though, anybody have some other recommendations?

Dream Theater were great! Looked like the band was having a bit of fun too, well except for mr ice cold John Myung  :P How crazy is Jordans keytar?

Another thing, I know that clubs don't want anybody passing out/falling asleep inside, but damn bouncers get shitty at that. Ive seen bouncers get REALLY aggro at people for doing that and turn a blind eye to drunk guys yelling/staliking girls, people smashing glasses and fighting.

Get your fucking priorities right meatheads  >:(

I work with a bloke who used to bounce in Scotland. Apparently there a lot if the clubs employ the same security company and they rotate the staff around. He says that none of the other bouncers at any of the clubs would talk to him for his first couple of nights. Then one night he broke up a fight and had to 'get in and throw punches' and only after that would they speak to him. Kind of like a weird 'right of passage' type deal.

Hopefully this guy just wasnt assaulting Daz to prove his worth to 'the boys'  ::)

So, new Slayer album has been released............ to not too much fanfare.  Apart from a buzz around a sneak of (admittedly awesome) track 'Psycopathy Red' a few months ago this has seemingly slipped under the radar.

Any thoughts? Ive only listened to it once, a few great tracks, few fillers and a dvd with a short film if you get the 'special edition'.

TONIGHT ON ANGER MANAGEMENT..

We have Perth guitarist SIMON HALLING coming in for a bit of a chat and to play some of his original songs. We'l also play a fair bit of 80s/shred/guitar style metal (as are his influences), some local stuff and new stuff!

Originally we were going to have him play live in the studio, but we'l save that for early next year.

9PM 107.3 Heritage FM !!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Great stuff, but damn, where the hell was everyone? Maybe saving the energy for Arch Enemy/Suffocation?  :hmm: Oh well

Jupiter Zeus(ex Nebula) opened and actually started at about 5 mins to 8PM, which means they played to like 3 people and the bands loading gear in to DEAD silence between songs. Bit of a shame as they played pretty decent stoner/rock stuff and chucked in an old Nebula classic in 'Stomach Ache'.

Human Extinction Project were next and had a similar 'crowd' response. Very amazing drumming and great energy from the band. Was this like the bands 3rd gig? And that intro song was hilarious, anyone know what it was? Something like 'Oh yeah, thrashing cunts. smashing cunts...' ect etc

Mhorgl next and they were flat out amazing. New songs sounds killer and Rob once again proves he is one of Perths most underrated guitarists.

Psychonaut got a bit screwed with a short set (maybe HEP took a bit of time to dismantle the SCAFFOLD that was part of the drumkit?) but they were excellent as usual.

Finally iNFeCTed closed with a great selection from the (new remastered) Crawlspace, Control and Trial. Had a few microphone dramas but they were great. Crowd was lethargic but appreciative, they finished at about 1am.

Ive got some photos il post later. The new remaster/packaging of Crawlspace is top notch! Nice work Joey K!

Sorry. but I never got the appeal of Vanishing Point.

They have some nice chops and have done well for themselves but didnt impress me at all supporting Dragonforce and Iron Maiden. Boring, mid paced and played a power ballad?
