Fuck I'm supposed to be at the Metallica show i Melourne the next day. If I catch the redeye on Tuesday night right after Soulfly finishes, I should be ok to make it, but it depends on when Soulfly's show ends. I'm hoping no later than 11

International / Re: Physical format CD's anyone still buy them?
« on: June 23, 2010, 05:36:15 AM »
I will always buys cds I like the physical product in my hand, the trip down the store, the drive back home cranking it loud, reading the liner notes and the artwork and having it sitting on my shelf on display along with all my other CD's plus it supports the band even if it's financially small. I even still have a lot of my old cassette tapes as well, original and recorded stuff. I don't like the idea that the digital age is now making these things obsolete, in a way I now understand what vinyl collectors feel like and while I never got into old records as it was just before my time, I definitely understand the importance and feeling of having those albums in your collection. Having downloads of mp3 files on a computer to me is completely lifeless and while I do have copies of my albums on my hard drive, they are only copies. I just prefer to have the actual album in my collection.

That being said, what some bands are trying to do like Lamb Of God and the cigarette flash disk boxset is pretty fucking cool but I still prefer the cd package.

Are there really any metal clubs in Perth anymore? Since the castle is closed down where does everyone hang out? Places like the basement and Rocketroom and all that are ok but they don't have a regular metal night. The eastern states have metal clubs, what about Perth? Is there just not enough demand for it or no interest?

General discussion / Re: POLL: How do you discover new metal?
« on: June 20, 2010, 01:41:18 AM »
Usually through friends or online. Last band I discovered was Myrath who hail from Tunisia. Like Dream Theater but with a strong middle eastern sound, great stuff. There is nothing better than finding a new band who are great at what they do.

This really blows, I got tickets last time the were supposed to be here and they cancelled due to poor sales. Either people really suck and don't know what they are missing or the promoters need to get their fucking act together. If Exodus can do a show here so can Testament.

I have heard some people say this is a stupid idea but I think it's a great idea, it's no different to watching a dvd at home only it's on a bigger screen  ;D I'll be there on the Friday showing.

Yeah Lamb Of God plus Baroness are opening for Metallica. They also announced 2 more shows, one in Sydney and Melbourne for September 15th and 18th so that makes it 3 times that they are visiting Oz. Fucking nuts! I don't know if LOG and Baroness are opening for those two shows, that's still TBA but they are for the other shows. I plan on going to 8 of the shows around the country, gonna be awesome!
