My cousin went to Britney Spears (yeah, I know) and did the Visa pre-sale the thing - the tickets were $70 more expensive than the regular presale. I'm not sure if something similar applies to Metallica?? If it does, I'll wait til next week, anyone know?

Fuck yeah.

Combining the big groove heaviness of stoner rock with the lowbrow swagger of garage blues, Western Australia's THE DEVIL RIDES OUT have established themselves as "Perth's premier exponents of balls'n'all rock'n'roll grit'n'grime" (Drum) with their trinity of EPs; Volume I, II and III. On the back of the Volumes, the band have supported the likes of Nick (QOTSA/Kyuss) Oliveri's MONDO GENERATOR (USA), MONSTER MAGNET (USA) and CLUTCH (USA). In May 2009 they won the WAMi (West Australian Music Industry) Award for 'Best Hard Rock Artist' and have been nominated again for this year's upcoming ceremony.

The band re-entered the studio in December 2009 to lay down their debut album with Alan Smith at Bergerk Studios. Internationally focused Australian label Impedance Records - home to Nick Oliveri, Mondo Generator, Priestess and The Sword amongst others - liked what they heard emanating from the studio and promptly signed them. The resulting album 'The Heart & The Crown' charts the sound of a band coming of age, displaying both a musical breadth and lyrical depth previously only hinted at on the Volume EPs, whilst still retaining the bands trademark venom, grit and pitch black sense of humour.

The Devil is now set to take their high-octane show on the road in June 2010...

"With fervourish post-Kyuss-on-coke cool, The Devil Rides Out have it all. Sound, style and silhouette blend with bad-ass pomp and balls-out flair to match...If you get to a Devil gig and grab an EP, don?t be surprised if you are compelled to drive at fast speeds with hot women. It?s just that kinda thing." - XPRESS MAGAZINE

"Soulful and blues-colored rock ?n' roll that would fit quite nicely as a soundtrack to a biker movie with hairy reprobates swigging bourbon and riding choppers in between sessions of vandalism. Imagine a band that is the sum of ZZ Top, AC/DC, Led Zep, Miller High Life, sunshine, sideburns, and convertibles and you will come pretty close to physically defining The Devil Rides Out." - STONERROCK.COM

"Very much like a cross between Queens Of The Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal... they generate heavy stoner rock with liberal lashings of garage blues, delivered with a ferocious grit."- INPRESS MAGAZINE

"The Devil Rides Out sure knows how to rock... they dole out enormously catchy doses of rollicking groove-laden sludge that wouldn't be out of place on an album by Corrosion of Conformity" - PYROMUSIC.NET

The Devil Rides Out are represented on the east coast by The Little Bird Agency. A member of one of the other bands in the Little Bird stable - Tobias from NSW band Booze Hag - is battling acute lung fibrosis and is on the waiting list for a lung transplant. In order to raise funds to help him with his medical costs, Little Bird have organised a series of benefit shows around the country that feature their bands and others who have all rallied together to support a rock'n'roll brother in need.

The Devil has heeded the call on the west coast and enlisted the help of The Floors, Blackwater Station and Deserthead to perform a special benefit show at The Hyde Park Hotel front bar on Sunday November 15th. Doors open at  6pm. Entry is $8, with all proceeds going to Tobias' medical fund.

Clutch announce Soundwave Sideshows!

Maryland?s favourite sons Clutch have continued to foster a strong relationship with their Australian fans in 2009, with three releases hitting stores so far this year, following the launch of their own record label Weather Maker, locally. Full Fathom Five, a live DVD and CD pack featuring the full Metro Theatre set filmed in Sydney on their last Australian tour, a studio LP from the bands instrumental side project, The Bakerton Group, and most recently Clutch?s 9th studio album Strange Cousins From The West. It?s been a big year for the band in stores here in Oz.

Next year it?s all about the live show. In 2010 Clutch return to Australia joining the likes of Faith No More, Jane?s Addiction, AFI, Placebo, Anthrax and many more for the Soundwave Festival. And now the band would like to announce their own national headline tour that will for the first time ever, take them to Western Australia.

Since 1991 the band have been challenging rock n' roll's limits, and Clutch show no signs of abandoning the unique experimentation that has defined them. "If you're not learning then you're retiring," says Neil Fallon. "You've got to take risks to learn, and there's always something to learn. When you go to your grave, you're only going to have learned a fraction of what's truly out there.?

Clutch will be joined on the road by Sydney powerhouse duo The Fumes.*

Strange Cousins From The West and Full Fathom Fiveare in store now through Weather Maker and Shock.

Tour dates are:

Friday 19th February: The Zoo, Brisbane, QLD
Wednesday 24th February: The Gaelic, Sydney, NSW
Thursday 25th February: POW Bandroom, Melbourne, VIC
Tuesday 2nd March: Amplifier, Perth, WA * with The Devil Rides Out
