phh, how the fuck does he expect  to even bring this legislation back up again when its drawing closer and closer to the implementation of the hi-speed broadband network...the two ideas just completely cancel each other out.

International / Textures part ways with Vocalist...
« on: January 22, 2010, 02:36:31 AM »
from Metalstorm:

Vocalist Eric Kalsbeek has left Textures to focus on his job and his family. Due to Eric leaving Textures the release date for the follow up of Silhouettes has been pushed back to the beginning of 2011. The following statement was issued:

"I decided to quit Textures. My life changed, priorities shifted. I can't cope with the heavy touring and the time investment anymore. I need to focus on my job and family. I need to take a few steps back. I've had six beautiful years with the band, did loads of amazing shows, made tons of new friends and created some mind-blowing music. I'm going to miss the guys, and of course you, the fans. I know Textures will continue to conquer the world and give you all great, heavy and awesome music. I wish my successor all the best. I will keep on making music, but something totally different, much more low-profile. Maybe we will meet again. Eric out."

The band is currently auditioning a possible replacement singer and hope to announce him in the coming months. The band states: "We will miss Eric a lot.. We had the greatest times together and these will live on in eternity.. Eric, you rock!"

WA Gigs / Re: CYNIC Australian Tour - Perth 7th January
« on: January 08, 2010, 07:54:13 PM »
Cynic displayed one of the most amazing 45 minutes of live music i think i have ever seen in my life. Words cannot describe how talented their frontman is. I really don't understand how people were bored by them, each to their own I guess.

I see how most people that dug the other two bands would have found Cynic dull by their own comparison, but I personally found them nothing but brilliant for the exact opposite reason, extremely captivating and insanely tight music, played with 100% conviction.

They should have done their own headline show so they could play where the atmosphere was more suited to that style of music, instead of playing with bands that completely didn't suit their genre.

But fuck me - they simply owned.

Sound Advice / Re: EZdrummer Superior 2.0
« on: December 29, 2009, 11:50:05 PM »
superior 2.0 is awesome...i kinda found the pre-made loops that came with ez drummer pointless. Its easier to just map out the midi notes from scratch than search through a library of loops.

New metal foundry samples are sweet too - the DW kit rules

for anyone interested, here is a clip from the show of one of the songs (Cages) from Chaos Divine's performance

enjoy!

You've missed my point - what WARRANTED the increase? Or was it just an increase for the sake of it?

i think recording a cd and paying to releasing it warrants the increase in door cost for this show in order to recoup funds.

This is the least interesting argument ever.

You say this bloke is full of shit, then you all spend 15 minutes arguing your point?

Bunch of fucking retards.

Shut up.

15 minutes? that's an understatement.

just leave it dude - no point bothering arguing back. Everyone that actually has a brain realises your awards show and what you are trying to do is an excellent thing to happen for the music scene in general.

also listening to this chaos divine band - what generic shit! how did this get best band of the year? hand on let me check - yes, I am not tripping treestumps, "best overall band of 2009". This is utter shit - how is this melodic or progressive - what because you have a few leads in the mix and the guitarist throws in the odd solo? oh wait, the production is good, so you can hear what he's doing...that must be it. what about the incessant chug chug riffs that you pulled directly out of In Flames' ass? fuck off, there is nothing progressive about plagiarism. The only song that's even vaguely interesting is Avalon and that's because the singer has a nice clean voice, reminds me of Anathema, but then again Anathema have released albums of this stuff that absolutely blow the mind, and only after releasing absolutely crushing doom albums. this tends to lethargically blow limp cocks. fuck off, just fuck off. who was in charge of granting these awards - you fucking posers, don't know what real metal is.

hahaha what an awesome cunt

can you believe the disprespect some people have for people that actually try and make the metal scene better??

http://metalshop.roadrunnerrecords.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=6&p=417795

what a load of utter crap some people spit out, not the comments towards us, but towards the hard and fantastic work of the organisers.

those people should be ashamed of themselves.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!! There's lots of tall poppies around mate - pay them no heed. From what i hear the show kicked ass, as did you guys, so onwards and upwards all the way!!! ;D

yeah i couldn't really care less what people think of my band, it just got to me they could bag out the organisers that worked their asses off to give everyone a good night to come and celebrate.

and the ISP to kill feedback and generally keep the amp quiet.  Better through the input then?

if you want to keep the amp quiet your better off running the noise suppressor through the loop. As in removing noise after the preamp.

yeah but for live situations its always unwanted guitar feedback that makes rigs noisy during songs, not amp hissing. Noise supressors are much better right up the front of the rig so the attack on the gate is nice and defined and it removes unwanted feedback from hi-gain situations when your parts have pauses. Then i just switch it off for clean/lo-gain stuff.

if you just want it to remove hiss you will only notice it working when the whole band stops playing.
