I agree, a best song award would be great.

Good work Jez. Keep going with it.
This would be great on the main page. If we end up getting a small group of reviewers I think it would be great to have more than one review of each album occasionally. On websites such as metal-rules.com there are often two or so reviews of one album. I like getting a few different perspectives on each individual release. Maybe even a comments box under the reviews?

Oh, and thanks for the review of Eve of Destruction. I haven't really heard much said about that EP.

This eve!
Look out for the sexual Team Nexus members to pick up the cheap Album and EP combo. Two tasty CDs for just $15. Not sure if there will be a merch desk or not... if there is, buy it there... if not...seek out Dan, Geoff, Josh or I.

reviewing a listening party?

"...as the lights dimmed and the CD player was powered up, the noise of the crowd subsided and the sound guy pressed play. It was some of the best CD player technique I've seen in the Perth music scene. The volume level was spectacular."

we got through the entire process as a band, and not too many bands can say that.

Too True! Nexus got through making The Paradise Complex as a goat.  :-[

Well done dudes. Can't wait to hear the album and look forward to the gig TONIGHT!

Very bizarre mix of styles. Which is always good.
Some bits were great, some didn't hit the spot for me... but I appreciate the obscure juxtaposition. Look forward to hearing more.

Is the Noise Etiquette demo (or was it an EP) available anywhere?

Megadeth were great. Chris broderick =  :o . Was anyone else suprized there was nothing from United or System ? . Rattlehead, Tornado & Set the world on fiire  FTW

Chris Broderick was pretty impressive. I can't believe how effortless he was. What a dude. His playing actually makes me interested in giving End Game another good listen. Great set list. So glad they played Rattlehead!!

Slayer was very impressive! They'll go far.

The gayest thing happened to me during "In My Darkest Hour". A shirtless, drunk, down-syndrome man put his arm around me... so excited to be singing along to megadeth... but the line he chose to sing was a poor choice. Looking me in the eyes he sang "You'll never know, how hard I tried, to find my space and satisfy you too".

BEWARE: Megadeth spoiler.

Here's the setlist from the Melbourne show...the other ones were pretty similar. I like it!  :headbang:

Set The World Afire
Wake Up Dead
Devil's Island
She-Wolf
Hangar 18
In My Darkest Hour
Rattlehead
Head Crusher
Tornado Of Souls
Symphony Of Destruction
Peace Sells

Holy Wars

What..? No "A Tout Le Monde"   :cunning:

I'm waiting for them to one day tour the entire RISK album. What a classic  :cunning:

If the license requires a decent portion of food to be served before booze can be purchased, then I propose a kebab stand inside the venue.
Imagine that! You'd probably make more money from kebab sales than beer sales!

On the booze front... would it be too much to ask to have king browns (of primarily emu export) served at the bar?

Maybe a beer and kebab meal deal! That's the killer combo...
"I'll have the The Kebab'n'Sports combo"
"Certainly, would you like to upgrade to a king brown for an extra $3?"
"Yes please! I am so happy, thank you"
"My pleasure, now enjoy"

Cool. I love budgie!!!!
My house mates' band The Floors are supporting. They are pretty great live. Demolishingly heavy, raw blues.... now with Ash (ex-Pyromesh) on drums.

Jez.

Man.

That was awesome. That was exactly what I wanted to hear. Forget the part about you not being sure whether you like it or not, the fact that you think that this is something so different is the best compliment we could ever receive (regardless of whether it was meant to be a compliment or not). Every band offers something different, but to be told exclusively by a peer that not only is our music different but that it is so different it made you feel out of touch. Everything you said in that post validated to me that I'm/we're on the right track.

Here I was thinking this album wasn't different/interesting/complex/confusing enough BUT then I read this...
"It sounds like the kind of music that OUR kids' kids will be listening to on primetime radio on their orbital space stations."
"this album just might just be the start of a whole new genre, one that I, sadly, will never truly understand."

I know that sometimes you may have some warped views Jez... and your thoughts in that post sound pretty extreme... but FUCK I like to hear it.
I'm ecstatic with your initial perception of The Paradise Complex.
I can only dream that other people have similar thoughts. But that may just be nothing but a dream of paradise.

Cheers!!  ;D

I'M A HAPPY MAN RIGHT NOW!

I can't believe there's a star wars vs star trek argument happening right now. STOP IT!

Anyways, as Rod Stewart said "TONIGGGHTTTSS THE NIGGHHTTTT!"  :headbang:  :headbang:  :headbang:

NEXT WEEKEND!

(NB: Both albums each come with a short narrative, printed in the linear notes.
These being Part 0 -"Eve of destruction" & Part 1 -"The Paradise Complex"
They should take you about as long to read, the the album will to listen to ...  :D )

You guys should do a split with Claim the Throne & have characters from both stories cross over  :headbang:

*NERD OVERLOAD*

...so that would be like Star Wars vs Conan the Barbarian
Sounds good!
