KHARIOT

After many months in the works, W.A. Prog/Extreme Metal group, Khariot, are proud to announce their first record - 'DISYMPOSIUM' - a musical journey through realms of multiple layers; in lyrical, structural and conceptual styles.

The debut album consists of 11 tracks of dissonant melodies, obscure twin harmonies and counterpoint, thrashing solos, crushing technical riffs, hypnotic basslines, dual diabolical screams & gutturals; and chaotic drumming. The album was recorded at Southern Darkness Recordings from July - November 2010 and is due for release as a Limited Edition Digipack in March / April 2011.

Cover & artwork by Alex Eckman-Lawn. (Psyopus, Illogicist, Vale Of Pnath, Architects). 'Disymposium' is a must for fans of Gorguts, Deathspell Omega, Atheist, Enslaved, Mastodon, Tool.

Tracklisting -
i. Malediction Eclipse

ive already made this point before -
"theres good bands, and theres shit bands". just go listen to the good bands.

its true that i went "WHAT THE FUCK IS DJENT" when i first heard the term. Meshuggah being lumped into that sucks. pioneering a sound that they made for themselves, not for other people to rip off. as long as there is a 'market' for it, people are gonna imitate.

every once in a while there are good bands / ideas that come thru. Deathspell Omega on their new record PARACLETUS is blowing my mind. i listen to fuckall black metal bands and they rule the top spot by A LONG SHOT for numerous reasons. its like that.
Meshuggah = TOP DOG.

i do listen to a few so called 'djent' bands, all stylistically different to each other, and theyre all probably sub-sub-sub genres of something else. Meshuggah, Mnemic, Textures, DEP, Psyopus. dare i ask if SYL and Fear Factory aare djent?

all i hope for is for musicians (or mainly metal musicians) to keep writing and expanding on GOOD SHIT. writing from digested knowledge, not regurgitation. music starts with notes, timbres, sounds, and has evolved and been copied and changed so much over centuries, theres no way its gonna stop now...

btw - Sensory Amusia demo is pretty cool. i wont say anymore...  ;D

I donno why Asians are bad drivers. Most countries in Asia have fuck all (enforced) driving rules and you have to be pro at driving to get anywhere alive.

yeah, hence why they think it applies everywhere.
luckily, i learnt how to drive here.

Just stay off the fucking roads.   ;D

man, if i crash, its the department of transport's fault

hahaha wow. i read most of that...

theres so many points to this thing and almost all of it is relevant. ok, im asian, and that asian driver thing is probably too true, ive witnessed it many a time. a stereotype works in media and satire because its a representation of what the majority of it really is.

from my point of view the reason of why the public tries to be "politically correct" is because of the history of all the genocide/breeding out shit. guilt.
then the government provides a blind eye due to previous horrors. same with america and terms like "afro americans" and how its a hate crime when its one way and not when its the other.
ill do some really bad shit to you now, regret it later, and make up some bullshit nonsense to feedback to you in return for your pain.
alot of races have done this as well, and im not just targeting white people.
i grew up in malaysia, and i say it is fucked, totally different history, one common factor - fucktards. the country is overwhelmed with violence and crime, corruption. it is claimed to be "multicultural" and the most fact is, that it is. but there are so many racists there alone. asians hating asians. no shit. states that belong to extremist muslim political parties who have been known to harbour terrorists, and none of the other races gets a say. better off if they had stayed with the british.
fucktards exist everywhere.

i agree with whoever's point it was to make everything equal, as it fuckin shuld be. 'they' (ooh look at me being politically correct) have had plenty of chances and its one's choice to take action in the now instead of doing fuckall and thinking of the past.

also the point of christianity being ok to be hated. i dont oppose just the one religion, but all. choice belongs to all of us and people get to choose to have religion. ok.
but what i hate is that if you do that, dont be a fuckin hypocrite, and dont claim holy war... thats just bullshit. no religion tells u to kill, and even if it does, did you think ur mommy would like it? fuck no. religious people are the biggest hypocrites ever, its like a placebo for "sinning" - i can do this because 'god' will forgive me. people that go the long way round when the obvious truth is common sense.

above all - man breeds hate, and even to the most docile, they will be affected. i think it comes down to abit of self control and common sense.
blargh. rant over.

Western Australia / KHARIOT - NOVEMBER 2010
« on: November 03, 2010, 05:32:11 AM »
NOVEMBER -

hey all. Khariot have been recording, recording, recording (and going insane from click tracks) - but its almost done now. Guitars, bass, drums, vocals, the whole lot. i can tell you that im definitely exhausted from triple duty as well as trying to keep up with the other band whilst this process has been going on...

...but im excited, and even without mixing, its sounding good. i cant wait for it to be done. we're almost there.
soon enough we will be back with another update, and hopefully it brings the artwork, album title and some actual music.

and itll all come back to the thread about "best drummers of the century". its hard to say whos better and based on what facts, we all know Lars is a tard and Dave fuckin kills on the drums. im saying what Dave performs on the drums for Slayer has been somewhat stale lately. seriously? ur cool with absolutely no variation on the same thrash beat on every single Slayer song? its like he holds back all the cool shit for his projects.

Tell me exactly how age effects you when you're sitting on ur arse playing the simple patterns he is? This ain't running around playing sport.

What this guy said.

Dave Lombardo's almost 50 as well and he's still going strong (even if Slayer's new material is considerably slower than their "classic" stuff).

Keg's point is fuckin spot on.
also to add to Dave Lombardo's playing - hes still going strong, and thought i fuckin love Slayer as well - i realised on the last tour that hes fuckin boring. and then i went to watch all my Slayer dvds and realised even Paul Bostaph changes it up abit, puts some dynamics into there. Dave plays the same thrash beat x8 times, switches. uber fast but uber standard tom tom roll fill in between. boring.
no point in speed if everyones asleep. (although there are some people who thrive on speed alone)

General discussion / Re: Heavy Metal and the remix album
« on: October 23, 2010, 07:00:45 AM »
i find theres a big difference between simply doing a remix of a song as opposed to doing an entire album of remixes, being 5 different remixes of the one song and a few extra ones thrown in there.
also acoustic albums, i mean... Opeth's Damnation, and that came out well.

i think its gotta suit it, and i mean, if the band has an inclination to do something like fuse electronic elements into it, then they shuld just do it. do a song with those elements. why rip your own song up? why change the actual focus and the bands interpretation and message?

even Khariot has toyed with the idea of having a "acoustic jazzified" version of one of our songs but that really might not see the light of day  ;D

i dunno. doofdoof drives me fucking crazy.

ps - Ulver did a good job of it tho, and Radiohead's Amnesiac is brilliant
