i cant believe i was so BLINDED before, lol.
rapidshare, but mostly MEDIAFIREEEEEE.

for all my Sunn O))), Boris, Neurosis, Khanate-loving doom drone noise ass.  :headbang:

Yeah theres a lot of blogs that are kick arse for getting underground stuff via links to rapidshare etc. Best way to go for music, so damn fast compared to torrents I've found..

For underground video files and everything else I use emule. If you get a download going when it's released it seeds at incredible speeds :)

yeah incredible speeds, never having to wait for a seeder when its hit 96%. worst and i fucking hate this - 99.6%
usually still works but huge glitches in the files.

i just got the Khanate - Capture and Release cd. nothing beats that.  :headbang:

what are the chances of someone clever enough setting up a WF torrents site that only WF members can join? That way we pretty much know that its only gunna be good shit, of good quality and no viruses (hopefully). I reckon that would be sweet! Only problem is Im no where near computer savvy enough to set that sorta shit up.

Dont think it would happen. There isnt enough people to make it viable. I think it would cost too much money/effort for very little outcome.

For a private tracker to work, you still need a large user base (One of the ones I am on has about 500 or so users). I could see maybe 30 users at most that would join from WF and it wouldnt make it worthwhile.

The other thing to keep a private tracker running, is ensuring that ALL of those who are on it, wont mention ANYTHING about it to anyone else. (Bit like Fight Club ;)) Since trackers like this are private and require users to logon/authenticate, IF it is ever found by the authorities, it makes it alot easier for them to prosecute both the owners of the tracker, and the users as well.

The private one I am on has shut down about 5 times due to people mentioning its name on forums and then it having 100's of randoms trying to get onto it.

mull cake... good.....  :eyebrows:

i reckon what we could do is have a joint (lol, pun on words)... a JOINT MEDIAFIRE account. so we just upload albums that people request, and get some shit ourselves. its free, unlimited and well, considerably fast.
and we can have a thread just for requesting, etc.

I'm having the worst fucking luck with this. nothing works. And the new soilwork album in on bit torrents as of today.

Anything, will do. There's no reason why this shouldn't work. Keep getting access denied after a few seconds of download.

Anyone?

do you have an ADSL router? Maybe your port fowarding isnt setup correctly???

http://portforward.com/routers.htm

Go there, choose your router, then choose the application u are using and it explains how to set everything up.

It may be tracked by a private tracker, which you need to be registered with.

Also, somewhat related, if anyone here is interested in downloading two Beyond Twilight albums (which I'm sure is noone here), you'll want to jump onto it soon, cause soon enough I'm going to be the only person left to seed it... one of two has left it, and every one of the peers who completed it has fucked off rather than seeding.

EDIT: What DamoESP said too... port forwarding is a common problem.

From?

Are you able to get any of their stuff in, and for how much?

EDIT: ... and before I get accused of being a pirating fuck, I have a try before buy policy... if I don't like the music, I delete it, if I do, I get whatever available albums I can.

I'm all for trying out music before buying it, be it listening to it in a/my shop, myspace or MP3. But I cant see how Bit Torrent free downloading can be good in the long run for MUSICIANS.
Having said that I did pick up 3 or 4 metal CDs at JBs today for 2for$5 :err: Fuck knows how anyone is supposed to compete with that.

Well, to be honest, I'd rather hand $30 (or whatever the CD charge is) straight to the musicians per album, rather than paying for the disc, because it's obvious they'd only get a fraction of that by the time the storefront, distributors, label, producers, etc take their cut out.

Besides, if it wasn't for torrents or any form of downloading music via the internet, I would never have heard of three quarters of the bands I listen to, because they don't, and probably never will receive much promotion here through CD stores or radio or such. I'm sure the same goes for many of us... I doubt everyone here owns or has been able to get every single album they listen to in legitimate form.

It all comes down to convenience. A store lets you get what you want from various labels all in the one place, and a persentage goes to the musicians/composer. Torrent lets you get what you want and NOTHING goes to anyone.
Also most downloads are crap MP3 compression versions and video is VCD quality. If you buy it you get WAV and DVD quality. Irrelevant if all you use is a shitty iPod and crap speakers though I guess. Broadband is changing this, and I see that a LOT of releases are now coming with ?bonus? DVD 4Gig+ discs to try and compete with pirating.

Besides, if it wasn't for torrents or any form of downloading music via the internet, I would never have heard of three quarters of the bands I listen to, because they don't, and probably never will receive much promotion here through CD stores or radio or such. Agreed :hmm: Every album IS available in legitimate form though, it just comes down to $. Admittedly capitalism/collectability has made a LOT of albums expensive, and the artist doesn't see much of the direct profit. Though when they release another 'Remastered' or 'Unreleased' recording they do profit from the increased focus on their group.

mmm time for another bulleit :headbang:
