Hahaha.. I've been knocking back a few Cooper's Sparkling Ale longnecks thanks to the sale of a computer, and my paycheck (most to be absorbed by my upcoming Maiden ticket).

Oh, I'm not trying to "justify" piracy, but what I'm getting at, is if I like a particular band or musician, I'm happy to support them, and that in one way, the internetz is their saving grace, as I (and many, many others) would never hear of them elsewhere.

Also, I was reading at another forum, that the whole bonus thing (on CDs and all that) is usually targeted at places like Japan, who can get US releases so fucking cheap (because they press most of them there), so they will buy a priced version of the album (to get bonuses like unreleased tracks), rather than for fuck all from the factory or distro even though it's a legit version of the same album. Which is funny, because when it gets to our stores, or American stores, the Jap versions cost a fuckload more to buy.

Also, bulleit is a fine bourbon... was drinking it last christmas holidays over east... on that, does any brand name sell bourbon with lemonade? I'd say I prefer it that way.

Ok, I got it working. Prt forwarding was the issue. Thanks to Damo and Daz

Anyway, I d/l the new soilwork album and got 52 mb if silence...peeved just a little bit. Does this happen to anyone else or does this mean that it's a fake?

I also downloaded a movie, an avi file and my windows reckons it can't play it.

Great.

Its not technically a Bourbon Whiskey as such, but the closest I can think of is Jacks and Lemonade cans. Tasty shit.

On the topic of off topic, I just got to TAFE, and remembered my first class was cancelled.

Might have to go get a six pack of that Jacks later... I remember when I first was offered it mixed with lemonade, I thought she was nuts, but it's actually a lot better than with cola.

@Boeijen: What do the comments for the torrent say? (at wherever you downloaded it from)... usually a fake or low quality version of anything will get found by the first few to download it, and be commented about. I've never run into a fake torrent before, or should I say, downloaded one without noticing warning comments.

Mark, are you sure that the downloads are complete? Sometimes parts of the torrent get corrupted, and have to be downloaded again which can push the total amount downloaded above the actual size of the file i.e. it will say '650mb of 625mb downloaded', but it won't be finished. This would explain the movie not being able to play (assuming it's not something simple like a codec issue).

Occasionally you get bad torrents, for instance; there are 200 seeds, and between them they have 97% of the file. There are two people with the final 3%, they never seed, and thus your download hangs at 97% and never goes anywhere. Watch out for this.

Concerning the album, I have no idea. I've never come across a completely fake album using torrents. Try playing the files in different media programs? Post the torrent here and I'll check it out if you want.

Parker is right on the money when he says it pays to keep your eye on the torrent rating, either on the tracker site, or the rating in the client itself. Ratings generally only pertain to the quality of the torrent; whether it is fast  and if it's complete.

Yeah I fucking hate that... I'm no great seeder myself at all times, I only tend to seed back significantly on torrents with little seeders, as seeding when there is already 100+ people doing it, and I only have 64K upload speed, is redundant. But it pisses me off when all the seeders leave when you reach the 90% area, and then all the peers are begging "come the fuck back and seed the remainder to one of us, and we will carry it on".

I guess that would be the benefit of joining a private tracker... a forced code of honour. I'm going to join one called audionews.ru when they next open registration (24 hours on the 2nd of Oct), so I can get some stuff I'm downloading easier, and help keep it spread.

Also, I've never had to deal with corrupt torrents, so to speak, as my client (uTorrent) automatically discards pieces that fail hash checks, and IP bans any peers/seeds that continue to provide corrupt pieces (that aren't due to a simple one off transfer error).

Man, I really need more internets... thank god this slow-ass connection is unlimited though.

Nah mate, it's too early in the year. I'll be in Europe around same time as 2006, late July through to early October. Probably be going to Progpower Europe, but, catch up with the old crew, get blind drunk and destroy de Berckt castle... again. Spewing I couldn't go this year, Orphaned Land + Alchemist would've been fucking awesome to see.

Who's headlining the U.K. festival?

Download is done in about 20mins.

Got a link to the place where you downloaded the torrent from? Surely there is a spam of comments about this.

I'd like to be able to do this but im on the three 6gb plan and going over it is expensive. I used to use Utorrent, pretty good. Anyone wanna hook me up with some movies and shit......please.

I used to go to my mate at Trinity college and get like 60gb's of movies and stuff, they have like over 50 computers and super high speeds but he's not staying there anymore so I've lost my source..
