bit Torrentz
« on: September 02, 2007, 03:55:19 AM »
hey all,

I'm interested in using this program but I hear it has a high risk of the user being prosecuted for illegal file sharing. I just wanna watch general shit-- like the recent UFC 74.

Anyone else know how to use this program accurately? I'm getting a few "access denied" thingys when I try to download.

Any help?

don't use private trackers like demonoid, use public ones that don't require authentication.

well I can't make anything "stick". Everything downloads for a nano second before it goes BLIP! ACCESS DENIED.

I tried turning off Google desktop like it said in the help menu but to no avail.

Download azureus and just google what you want eg, "Naked man goat madness torrent"  and click it, download the torrent file and should work, its all I was told to do ;)
May my weary soul find release for a while, at the moment of death I will smile.

No, get uTorrent. Best. Client. Ever.

And yeah... demonoid is ghey. Although, with DHT, you can still download shit if it's tracked elsewhere as well (which is usually the case).

High risk of prosecution? Haha... doubt it. I'm starting the download of a 9 DVD sample library that retails over $10,000 US (as far as I know anyway)... let's see if I get prosecuted. :P
Not to mention I've already downloaded upwards of 150GB of music. Recently had to buy a additional 500GB hard drive 'cause torrents are consuming my hard drive space, fast.
I must slumber, per se.

I agree with squirt.
You know one thing I'll never understand about you.  No matter how many times I kick you in the teeth, smack you with the manhole cover, throw hot water in your face, pour molten glass in your rectum.....you'll always come back for more.

You'd be surprised. some trackers in order to stay in business work with authorities to get details of high profile release groups and they can get extradited to america and prosecuted.

all what the American authorities can do is send a letter to your ISP, i know ISP's such as iinet and westnet don't even bother forwarding the letters to their customers if they do come through. i did however hear rumors about utorrent and another client working with the authorities, but as theres no proof i wouldn't worry about it. I'm a member on demonoid with about 50gb down/75up and it has very reliable trackers with user comments so you know if anything your downloading is dodgy.
The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Doesn't look like the ISP's are going to be doing anything about it any time soon.

Didn't the pirate bay get closed down or something?

Temporarily like...last year, or possibly even the year before. Unless it's been closed down again?

I search on Torrentspy most of the time, but they always seem to be missing torrents that Mininova ALWAYS has.

If I can't find a torrent on Torrentspy, but I can google for it, it's always been on Mininova.

well if it is ever metal you are looking for go to kerrazy-torrents.net (you need to register though and go to the metal releases forum)

If that doesnt have any metal you are looking for I will be suprised.

the ultimate - http://www.torrentz.com/
it searches torrentspy, btmon, mininova, etc etc and gives you the best hits according to seeders, download health, whatever.

i thought azureus was only for macs? coz im on a mac.

torrents seem to work pretty well but for the real underground shit, it seems like seeders only come every once in a while - and i only recently found an alternative to get that shit... i cant believe i was so BLINDED before, lol.
rapidshare, but mostly MEDIAFIREEEEEE.

for all my Sunn O))), Boris, Neurosis, Khanate-loving doom drone noise ass.  :headbang:

Yeah, fucking hate when something has shit all seeders, even more so when they bail permanently once you reach 90%, and other peers don't have the remainder. Nearly happened with the Die Apokalyptischen Reiter torrent I was downloading, but luckily another peer had the remaining pieces, and I seeded for a week afterwards. 8)

Thats where I used to get most of my stuff from and the rest from kerrazy-torrents both great sites with lots of underground bands.

Yeah theres a lot of blogs that are kick arse for getting underground stuff via links to rapidshare etc. Best way to go for music, so damn fast compared to torrents I've found..

For underground video files and everything else I use emule. If you get a download going when it's released it seeds at incredible speeds :)

Private trackers are the way to go.

Nothing beats downloading at 700kbps and getting a 1.5gb (3 hour long) movie in less than 30 mins :)
