I have no problem with downloading for free. By the time you add the cost of pressing the disc, booklet & case, the profit on a locally produced small run album is shitall.
However I do disagree with some wanker getting the music for free (illegally) then selling it for a profit to line their own pockets.
If the bands are happy to willingly give the albums to these guys then that is all good.

what they are doing is highly illegal in the eyes of international copyright law.
they have to not only have your permission to possess your music, but to sell it is a completely different story.
unfortunately there is no slowlight stuff on that site, otherwise i would be on the phone to my lawyer right now.

It sucks, but you can also use it to your advantage as a promotional tool. Personally, I wouldnt be losing sleep over it. Every other band is in the same boat, and if they think they arent, then they havent searched well enough.

It sucks that some-one is making money off your music but this has been happening for years.

Personally I don't give a shit if some-one sells my music, although I'd prefer they gave it away for free. The music i create is not created for profit. It's created out of need to get it out of my system and because I love making music. I know it costs a lot to put a cd together but you cant seriously expect to make a profit from black metal can you? If somebody sells my music to some-one else then they are doing me a favour. Spread it around like a fucking disease i say! "It's available everywhere! It's unstoppable!" Black Metal especially is not about money. It never was....

I'm amazed you've been so adamant and vocal about this considering you were selling illegal Wacken DVD's to people in Perth not too long ago. I don't know if you remember this but I asked you if felt any guilt about selling those illegal DVD's and your response was that it was justifiable because you have to recoup the cost of going to Germany and hopefully make enough money to fund going  again to see bands and record more DVD's to sell. I wonder how the people who illegally sell your music justify it to themselves?
