Circle pits
« on: March 11, 2009, 04:56:49 AM »
Call me boring and old-fashioned, but what the fuck is it with circle pits?

It irritates the shit out of me when getting pushed to the side at a good metal gig just so I can make room for a bunch of mad cunts wanting to run around in a huge circle. Seriously. Get some balls and bring back the moshpit you pussies.  :headbang:

if your ballsy enough when they start it up just run straight through it.

I don't mind hardcore dancing but not at a metal gig. It should stay at hardcore shows.

I couldn't be bothered with moshing/dancing in general at a gig anymore. Those circle pits are annoying cos they take up a lot of space and they push everyone not dancing further away from the stage.
I'd kill you, but that might get blood on my shirt.

At amps seems as though its about 50/50 between moshing and hardcore dancing. At the SSS gig i got a bit pissed off at the flailing limbs and just tripped one of the cunts over. Its normally the drunk ones who are the worst.
The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Circle pits are just a mating dance for pole smoking fruits who have no sense of rhythm and no place at metal gigs.

Any band that calls for one instantly loses my respect.

I'll bang my head, I'll thrash the fuck about, but I'm not moving aside so a bunch of pussies can run around in circles like they're playing kiss chasey.

Hear, hear..

We're called head bangers for a reason - get up there and bang your head til you get whiplash.

People that do that stuff are too busy running around to even pay attention to the bands or music, trying to out do or impress each other. If you want to be a poser and do some new age crap like that or jumping or airy fairy milling then do it in your bedroom.  8)

I've never really understood them either. Listening to metal doesn't tend to make me want to run around in a large circle. But hardcore dancing at a metal show pisses me off a lot more, there were a few in the pit at mastodon a few years back.

well theres the people who open a circle to run around the circle without even roughing up, and then theres the people who open up a circle to get a slam pit going, they are a little bit more respectable since people are at least getting hurt :P

Dam straight ya'll ! whatever happen to good ol' up and down?!!!I cringe now everytime i hear a band say "open this shit up", seriously it's old. Ie soundwave, in which everyband that played on the metal stage did the sammme thing right after one another, "open this shit up!" or "lets see a cricle pit!". I loved the show but i would have thought they would have at least tried to do something different than the band(s) before them.

No, those pits just had punks, skinheads and metalheads in them who would DELIBERATELY knock your teeth out rather than some skinny metalcore kid flailing his arms around desperately trying NOT to :P

I think f you're watching a band minding you're own neck tearing business and have someone carrying on like a fucking shitwit knock you over because they were playing jungle gym, then we have the right to do the same back {without resorting to running in a circle}. Get fucked.

I can comprehend how the energies in metal music can translate to rhythmic 'head banging' , but running in a circle?  ???

Sounds/look(s) like posertards.

that shits me off even more than circle pits, theres nothing i find more annoying than trying to watch a band from upclose, when every cunt around you decides to jump up and down. There is nothing that reminds me more of 13 year old emo and nu metal fags than a bunch of people jumping up and down.
