Those new vocals shocked me a little. Seems like a few more solos in this one also. The way they tie in to the riffs and music is pretty cool though, especially in Brents chicken picking type solo style.

Not sure what the hype is with this band. Didn't like their old stuff and this new track doesn't sound any better.

Who cares? Listen to it, if you like it, you like it, if you don't like it turn it off. The subgenre name attached to it should be the last thing you think about- if you only listen to bands that are placed under a particular genre, you're going to miss out on so much awesome stuff.

I never said I did listen to bands that are classified under a certain subgenre.
I just think it's ridiculous that people call this band prog.

The term "progressive" in a musical sense is pretty open to interpretation.

I'd say they're progressive in that each album has 'progressed' greatly from its predecessor. Each album is VERY different to the last. They also write fairly unique songs that have structure and 'vibe' that you don't get from other bands.

I'd say these points make them progressive, but if you look at progressive metal as something that is all about cramming as many odd time signatures, tempo changes, and guitar solos in each song as possible then no, they're not progressive.

people seem to forget theres a massive difference between prog rock and prog metal. Alot of metal bands that get labelled in the prog catagory arent really true prog metal. But they have more of a prog rock influence.

a good example would be Enslaved.

Gave it another listen today and Im starting to think its one of the best albums of recent times. I think it has more of a post-rock feel then prog, but there are still a few prog influences.

Firstly, whoever thought progressive was a good idea for a genre name lacked foresight. It's like modern art - it can't be modern forever can it? Or progressive in this case.
Secondly, this album IS awesome. And I do not hate to say it. And people who have to figure out what genre an album is before they decide if they like it are gay and faggot.
