I think it would work the same way your rostered watering days work.

ie. postcodes ending in 76, 45, 98 will get money today.

Just be aware guys, that there are some pure scum out there raiding mail boxes for cheques.

Eh they'll never be able to cash it. Fairly sure the banks are going to be pretty vigilant about it.

Yeah, I've noticed that... the mailboxes at my apartment block were all attacked a week or two ago... but I have a lock on mine, and I've already received my Ruddbucks via Direct Deposit.

Sounds like it... The postcode idea doesn't seem to have applied... I know a bunch of people in the suburb who haven't received theirs yet.

i read in a news article today that over the course of 6 weeks they randomly generate post codes each night. apparently makes delivery easier on the poor postman taking the cheques around that day too.

so it's true about the post codes, but there's no order to it whatsoever.

Maybe they're meant to receive it via electronic funds transfer, or another method?
But even still, you'd expect it to arrive faster than a cheque

Double dipping into this 'economic stimulus package' would have been nice

I seriously do not think it will do us any benefit....China had a stimulus package that was (obviously) 10 times our budget. And it has done them no good. You see, in a matter of 2-5 years, taxes shall shoot up, including interest rates.

I would also like to see what people would be spending this money on

80% Booze
10% Musical Gear
5% Props for a Claim the Throne gig
5% Sex toys..........

So here?s the answer: it?s entirely random? based on your postcode. This is from the genuinely helpful ATO tax bonus FAQ page:

All cheque and EFT payments will be made using a post code selection process that is randomly generated, ensuring all post codes are evenly distributed to each state and territory each night (using the Australia Post predetermined percentage spread). For this reason and because of security concerns, we are not planning to publish a distribution schedule.

So there you go - it?s totally random who gets it and when. And it looks like each night the ATO supercomputer picks some numbers out of thin air and doles out some cash. And in an effort to spread an equal number of payments to each post code each night, it could be that you get your payment but your spouse/partner/flatmate/pet misses out.

Most likely, as previously mentioned, but that's still not going to stop people from trying to steal them... I mean, so what, they can't cash it, but neither can you if they have your cheque.
