Aluminium neck / guitars (kramer etc).

What's your stance on Aluminium guitars Perry? Always liked the sound of the Kramer aluminium neck guitars. Is this something you can do, or what are your thoughts?

Cheers

Awesome. Any ideas on the additional cost of the aluminium neck? Should I email you / go via the online quote generator?

Cheers!

Cool. I'll drop you a line in a few months. Very keen on this when I've got the cash for a deposit.

Of all the metals used for guitar hardware, aluminium has the greatest volume and tonal effects. It is great. The reason I didnt use aluminium for the multiscale single string bridges was more because of strength. I used steel and stainless steel in the end. I would prefer aluminium, but the walls of each saddle base are too thin.

I have aluminium hardware (trems, tunomatic style bridge etc) coming soon.

Didn't you & I have this very same discussion in great depth about 2 years ago Pez haha. So there is someone else in Perth who fancies the Aluminium idea. I am no longer the sole lunatic.
The only thing that made me take a backstep was the effect that heat & cold has on aluminium & the stability with tuning. I was however discusing a guitar with a Aluminium billet body & billet neck.  ;D

just stumbled upon something pretty cool. The very first electric guitar ever made was an Aluminium body and neck with a Rickenbacker horse shoe pickup. It was made by the company that would eventually become Rickenbacker, in 1932, and it was called the "Frying Pan" for obvious reasons....

wow man, those things must be RARE as! They only made them from 1932-1937 or something like that. What a cool piece of history to be asked to work on. Was it a local dude who owns it?

And the reason the electric guitar was invented was because the normal acoustic guitar was easily drowned out by the brass section. There were other attempts to make the guitar sound louder by using a metal sound cone. Eg: the dobro guitar.
