FS: MIJ Ibanez PGM30, AUD 300 ONO (SOLD)...
« on: January 15, 2009, 12:07:07 AM »
Yup, the rarer version of the PGM30, ones that were made in Japan, and not Korea...

I'll let her go for AUD 300 ONO, taking into account that the guitar needs a new bridge, or presumably a conversion to fixed bridge or whatnot, and maybe new pickups. I've done a quote from a local luthier, and you will still end up with a guitar that's cheaper than a used one, albeit with some paint chips.

Comes with an original hardcase for it, but can't say it's mint really. It's mostly just the internal foam peeling off, but some glue won't hurt, and you have a decent case already. Everything is stock, bar the knob, which is now a black dome knob, and the bridge pickups is a standard spacing Dimarzio Evolution bridge. Missing a single string nut clamp thingos...

I'll happily let you have a look at her when February comes, when I'm back in Perth. Pics will also come by then, just seeing if anyone is interested in an awesome project guitar...

Oh, it's just the white with black F holes. The estimate assumes that you are converting the guitar to fixed bridge, around AUD300 off memory to filling the trem cavity, and possibly AUD200+ to install a fixed bridge, but I think you could get a cheaper bridge installed. That leaves you with a few hundred more if you decide to change any pickups that you want. But that estimate was last year's price, I can redirect you to the luthier if you want to get a new quote...

It could be cheaper though, as I did one a more expensive fixed bridge, and maybe the luthier could reduce the labour cost a little. If you aren't interested in installing a fixed bridge, it would probably be cheaper. All you need is a string nut clamp, and just replace the pivot stud on the treble side, and you are set to go...

However, if you wish to not convert it to a fixed bridge setup, then it might be cheaper. You'll just need a single string nut clamp, and replace the pivot stud on the treble side, and she's ready to go...

The last time I checked ebay, a used MIJ PGM30 was going for around AUD800, and in all honesty, the tonality quality, bar the hardware, is just as good as the PGM300 and PGM301 IMHO...

Was reading an article regarding them Ibanez trems on Jemsite a few days ago, apparently the OFR can retrofit onto the PGM30 without routing apparently. Just a heads up for you buyers...

Its amazing how cheaply this guitar was fixed. I wonder why the original poster got such a high quote on the repairs? Hmmmm

That's cause I had no intention of keeping the original bridge initially...

Oh well, it's sold, and fixed, so everyone's happy...  ;D

I don't see the burnt part it in. As I bought her dirty cheap, I also decided to pass on the savings to Toby, as I've dealt with him before. As for the new owner via ebay, it's still a decent price to pay for one of them...
