In 2004 our very own Jez and his good mate Mick formed a music project that was aimed at creating a raw, energetic and disctinct sound in the Perth Metal scene, from these humble beginnings formed the new monster that is NEVERBORN, with our third album on the tip of our tongues almost ready to unleash to the World we have decided to celebrate our humble beginnings and the continuation of the NEVERBORN juggernaut by gathering some friends to Celebrate Five years since our initial rancid conception.

This will be an epic occasion with four sick bands cramming onot that crazy rocket stage, we will be playing a special set of old and new material, with many a never before heard and neverborn classics

Also, for those of you who know my girlfriend Santosha, it will be her 21st Birthday Celebration night as well, so in true Neverborn style, we will piss the night away with sick music, good times, and lots of beer

I wish I had known that before we offered the gig elsewhere, but don't fret old girl. we have some decent giogs coming up as warm-ups to our big CD launch and we definately would like to do another show with Enforce.

Big thanks to all that made it down, and there sure were a lot of you. People getting thrown out left right and centre, heads banging and drinks flowing, we couldn't have asked for a better 5th Birthday gig.

Nails were brutal as ever and they got the early crowd fired up, they definately had the best sound mix of the night. Knowing how horrid the sound onstage is in the RR, I think it is remarkable that they can hear the lowdown dirty sounds they generate at all, but somehow they pull it off, and tightly too.

CDT's mix was probably the worst of the night, and nobody gave a fuck. They were - as always - a visual and auditory feast with their masks and lights and that thick industrial-ish sound that even the mixer couldn't completely ruin. I overheard a lady at the bar comment on how hot she thought they looked up there, I bet she wouldn't say that if they took their masks off, eh Simon? Good to see you guys back.

Malignant Monster are facing a longterm member's departure due to a career change, and this gig was a poignant one for them. It didn't slow them down for a second, they made that small stage look even smaller with their onstage presence and vicious sound. Malignant do what Malignant does best, generating headaches, deafness, shock and awe, feelings of rage and a lake of spilt beer. Fuck yeah.

We expected a show like that from the battle-hardened lineup who came to help us celebrate our milestone, and they didn't disappoint. You guys made it easy as fuck for us to finish them off so big thanks to all.

Was a good night. ONly caught the last song from CDT. But they sounded pretty brutal. the masks with the laser type lights were wikid. Looked like evil cyborgs or something.

While I wasn't suprised to see Deon at the gig I didn't expect to see Cliff. Deon: If you guys are going to the Westernfront awards I'll try and see if I can get Justin to come along.

Slipknot is not really the look we are going for.
Haha it's been fuckn ages since anyone compared us to them. I remember we were interviewed once the interviewer made a Slipknot remark. The glares she got from Kris had here shitting out her cunt.

We are attempting to get away from the whole latex mask, horror theme ie: Slipknot old Berzerker Gwar etc. What we are doing is not revolutionary by any means, just different & entertaining.

Comparing us to Slipknot is like saying Kiss Alice Cooper & most Black metal bands must all be the same because they paint their faces & wear ridiculously long spikes.

I know the odd Slipknot comp will raise it's had on occassion but I don't really care, we will keep doing what we enjoy doing &if some people can't see & hear the obvious differences then we would be better off arguing @ a brick wall because it is obviously a lot less tone deaf.

On a personal note. I like Slipknot.
Kris only likes their first album
Adam doesn't care for them either way
Luke wouldn't know em if they were standing in front of him in all their gear. I he wouldn't know a slipknot song if you played him every album back to back.

He knows every Iron Maiden song word or word though.

The masks are cool, and we wish we had thought of them first. Must be hell uncomfortable doing vocals inside a mask though, can you even see out of the eyepieces?

I found Skript's post more humour than anything, hence the smiles & laughs.

Like I said it's been a while since we copped that comparison. as more people get to know we exist it will obviously come up mre & more often. We have our reply to it & don't really care what anyone else believes anyway.

Yea Jez those masks are hot sweaty, full of spit & god knows what else. Any clear vision is a blessing. wearing them actually makes you get uncomfortable & angry. A lot of our songs are about genuine shit that pisses us off, so the affect the masks have on us does help us to convey the songs appropriately.
Attempting to spit vitriolic hate whilst smiling & having a good ole time on stage kinda comes across weak & fake. Doing it whilst you are pissed off hot & uncomfortable makes it easier & truely real.
For us the masks are more than just an image, they get us in the uncomfortable mindset we need to be in to put on the show we are attempting to perform.
Within the first 30 seconds of the show I am sweating profusely, out of breathe, I can't see shit, every mistake I make because I can't see gets me more enraged. All I feel like doing is throwing my guitar down & start swingin. The longer the show goes on the worse it gets. Sweat drips into my eyes & it stings like hell, the grill holes fill with sweat droplets to make vision worse. my arms start to burn from the neoprene in the suit. sweat pisses down my hands making holding a pick near on impossible. My head & face feel as though a vice is squeezing them & by half way though I usually begin dry reaching.
