I have been using Logic Audio Platinum to record the pre-production tracks for Neverborn for years but it is just getting too outdated and glitchy.  I recently switched to Cubase sx3 and that seems better but I have a horrid latency problem and it would appear to be my soundcard that is the misfiring cylinder. 

I need something better than the onboard soundcard incorperated into the motherboard, or a USB interface soundcardy sort of thing.  If I have my facts right, I don't need anything super-flash, as long as it has ASIO capability and full duplex mode, and I am not fussy on the number of midi and audio inputs and outputs.   I have my eye on a Presonus Audiobox and they are only $350 or so, but it is unnecessarily good and I am trying to cheap out here.

Has anyone got a reasonable soundcard they wanna part with, and if so, how much you want for it?

How much you wanna spend?
I have digidesign 001 I wanna offload. Give me a call.
If the price is right I will lend it to you for a week or so first to make sure it is what you need before you shell out the $.

Also Reaper will probably be a better DAW(recording program) for you as it is less system intense, free for 30 days, runs off a thumbdrive, Accepts almost all hardware & software, only costs $60 U.S to register after 30 days(unlike several $100 or $1000 for other programs).Is virus free as it is not cracked. Can be patched into programs such as Nuendo to tranfer data/tracks etc  ;)

back on topic, are these sound card things you talking about PCI/AGP type hardware, or it is an external unit? Just interested, from a computer hardware-geek side of things.

fair enough man. You just gotta understand that some people use this site as a social place or an outlet or whatever; its not always strictly business. Its the way of the internet I guess. Definitely one of the least bullshit-filled, spammed up websites I have come across though.

It is only $329.00, less if I harrass them. 

That's all I need, but just to sweeten the deal it includes a free copy of Steinberg's Cubase LE 4, with 48-track recording and production software and more fruit that I can be bothered listing.  It would be nice to have the genuine program so I can get technical support if necessary.

Can anybody vouch for the presonus audiobox?

I'm thinking abou starting to record as well, and $329 seems like a pretty good deal.  Especially if it comes with the software like catalyst said.  (Cubase)

If it is a worthy product I might be off to kosmic as well then  ;D
